Question:

I want to add a 7 pin trailer wiring harness and a brake controller to a 2011 Ford Econoline E350 that has no factory trailer wiring and am hoping that someone can suggest the parts that I will require to do so.

To install all necessary wiring for a 7-pin connector and a brake controller on your 2011 Ford E-350 start with the Curt # C56020 4-pole wiring harness. For installation of this harness, if you don't already have them, you will want a Powerbuilt # ALL648544 trim pad remover, and a size T-15 Torx bit driver available at any hardware store.

I have included a video showing the installation of the 4-pole wiring on a E-350 which will be a good help. However, where they finish with the 4-pole line hanging out the back door, I would suggest running it down and under the van to the hitch area. The advantage of this will be obvious when we install the 7-pin connector.

To upgrade the 4-pole to 7-pin use the etrailer # ETBC7 Universal Kit. Once installed, the 4-pole connector plugs into the back of the 7-pin. Use some Edelmann # 11755 dielectric grease in this connector to keep moisture and corrosion out. I have included a link showing how to install this kit on your E-350. During the installation of the ETBC7 you will make a dozen or so crimped wire connections. If you don't already have a high quality crimper I highly recommend adding the Performance Tool # PTW30764 Crimping Pliers. They make a strong connection every time. You will also need basic wire strippers for this installation. If you don't already have a pair, you can add Performance Tools # PT43ZR Wire Cutters to your cart.

Finally, if your trailer has electric brakes you will need a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes in concert with your E-350 brakes. I recommend the Tekonsha # 90195 Prodigy P3 controller. I have been using this same controller in my truck for three years and I am very satisfied with it. I have attached a video showing the installation on an E-350.
