Question:
I am worried about clearance with my tailgate. Can you tell me what the distance is on this from the center of the tube to the farthest point of the motor housing?

From the center of the tube to the furthest part of the motor housing on the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000 measures approximately 5-3/4 inches.
If you are worried about having enough clearance for your tailgate there is a simple solution, which is a long ball mount.
Assuming you have a 2" hitch there are a number of options depending on the rise of drop you need:
- Ball Mount 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop, Extra Long # D-26
- Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop - 13" Long # C45270
- Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4" Rise, 6" Drop - 14-1/4" Long # D-28
With each of these you will get the extra clearance you need to use A-Frame Jack # JET-5000. To secure the ball mounts to your hitch you will need either Pin and Clip # PC3 or Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock # 63232.
For a hitch ball with any of these ball mounts you can use one of the following hitch balls, depending on the size of your trailer's coupler: 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40017, 2" Hitch Ball # 63845 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 63847.
I have added links to video reviews on the ball mounts and jack for you to take a look at.
