Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C40017. This is the Curt Hitch Ball with the 1-7/8 inch diameter. It's going to have that nice long shank. It's a steel hitch ball with a chrome finish. It's going to offer protection from rust and corrosion. It's going to feature the wrench flats here on the side.
It's going to allow you to get your wrench around there. That way you can easily get it tightened to the ball mount and torque to specifications listed by the manufacturer. If we check the tag that comes with the mount, here on the backside we can see that it's going to say that we need to tighten the trailer ball to 250 foot pounds of torque. This is going to offer a shank diameter, that's this portion here, of 1 inch. If we take a measurement of the shank length measuring from the bottom of the platform to the end of the threaded portion, that's going to give us a measurement of 3 inches. This is designed to fit draw bar thicknesses from 1-inch to 2-inch.
It's going to offer a 3,500-pound capacity and it's going to come with the lock washer and the nut. That's going to do it for our review of part number C40017. This is the Curt Hitch Ball with the 1-7/8 inch diameter and a capacity of 3,500 pounds. .

Good selection. I found the proper configuration right away and the product works perfectly on my utility trailer “pusher” which is battery powered and allows me to move trailer on and out of storage.
Just arrived have not installed yet looks good...
Rich - 01/27/2022I couldn't find a ball hitch with a long enough shank for my '09 Tacoma bumper. It was even hard to locate online, but etrailer.com had what I was looking for. It works great, no issues since I put it on. I use it to pull a light trailer, usually with a lawnmower.

It got me and trailer to destinations with no problems so far.
Bought this ball for the long shank because I bought a thicker ball mount. Exactly what I needed. Seems to be rated for a bit more weight than most 1 7/8" balls, too.

After one year it's still a good quality ball hitch. I store it in my trunk when not using so the finish is still very good on the chrome. Highly reccomended!

A perfect fit for the Alumstinger mount. One minor point: the product image looks like a satin finish, but it is actually chrome.
