When you install an aftermarket part on your vehicle like a trailer hitch in this case, you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11604 is confirmed to fit your 2016 Honda Civic sedan. I've linked an install video for you.
If you're going to be towing a trailer you'll also need a ball mount, hitch ball, pin and clip, and trailer wiring.
The wiring harness # 46255 will provide a 4-way trailer connector to power the trailer's lights. It's circuit protected to protect your Civic against shorts.
You'll also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I've attached link of our selection of ball mounts for a Class I hitch receiver as well as an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop you may need. Once you choose a ball mount you can then choose a hitch ball to fit it as well as a pin and clip.
I've also included links to some articles on towing that you might find helpful.
