Fit was great but drilling the holes was a bit of a task. The frame rail must be some kind of high carbon steel because the drill bits had a rough time going through. But overall satisfied with the final result.

2018 Honda Civic

Easy install, I did not enlarge the forward most holes as suggested. I used a bench grinder to reduce the size of the inserts slightly which allowed it to easily fit in the driver side frame rail through an existing punched out hole further up the frame. The passenger side had a rectangle hole that I was able to enlarge a very small amount using a sawzall. The passenger rear hole is a monster to drill, start small and use your step bit as soon as you can. I did all this with M12 tools IFYKYK.

It was easy to install, about one hour, and it fits perfect on my honda 2016, the best part: I was able to pull a uhaul trailer from Oregon to California (1000 miles ) with no issues am so glad I bought it from etrailer

2016 Honda Civic

Great delivery time. Shipped to my house within 2-days of placing the order. I actually drove back home to get it and install it with a family member, it shipped so fast.
Only issue I had was not with quality, but with DRILLING THE HOLES THROUGH METAL during the installation.
You NEED SPECIAL DRILL BITS - COBALT COATED DRILL BITS to drill through the metal/steel frame on the underside of my Honda Civic.
Once we got the right drill bits, the rest of the installation went pretty fast.
The DIRECTIONS on ETRAILER and CURT'S website did not say you needed cobalt drill bits to drill through steel on the underside of the car.
Other than that, great product. Waiting for my bike rack to arrive so I can use the hitch.

2017 Honda Civic

Very solid hitch. It took me about 1.5 hours but was not that hard to install. The cold bothered me more than the work. The frame on the Honda is pretty hard, so getting the first holes through was interesting. After that things went smoothly. The step drill is a necessity. Also a good drill is needed. I put the rear of the car on ramps and this provided plenty of clearance to drill holes. I used a car jack to hold the hitch in place to mark location and then when finally installing. The fish wires worked perfectly, really a great addition.
Instructions and video were excellent.

Purchased 1 year ago. I bought this to install on my honda civic so I could put a bike rack on the back for trips. I've only done this a few times throughout the year but never any issues. I like etrailer's website for showing pictures of the products on your specific vehicle because I know next to nothing about cars and car parts. The customer service is definitely above the norm and I would purchase from etrailer again

Great product, have used it often and appreciate the quality.
It would be nice if you offered a tool to cut through tempered steel.
On my 2016 Honda Civic, the frame steel where the back holes ( nearest to the bumper) of the hitch mount is tempered steel. I had to use a stone grinding wheel to cut those holes. The front holes drilled with a standard bit.

Awesome Hitch, perfect for the bike rack and 2 bikes I'm pulling made my life easier knowing i can secure my bikes to something for travel without damaging my trunk or the bikes. Great Hitch and very easy to install for the do it yourself person. I use the hitch for my bike rack only as the vehicle does not recommend pulling a trailer. I'm considering buying a new vehicle and I will be a repeat customer.

Just finished installing the tow receiver, which, for one person, was fairly easy. The installation took about 45 minutes, but I had a couple of problems. The first problem with the installation occurred when I was only given three carriage bolts, instead of four. So, I had to go to the hardware store to get one, but they didn’t have any, because they are 7/16” and the store only had 3/8” & 1/2”, so I went with the 3/8” and then adapted the fish wire to accept it. Other than that, the installation went smoothly. I then installed my bike rack and went for a quick drive and found it was super sturdy, without any wobble.

Great instructions, all parts needed included.
Get yourself a really good step bit, take it slow and easy. I couldn't get enough pressure so I used a floor jack on the back of the drill and that did the trick.

What Size Drill Bits are Needed to Install Curt Hitch # C11604
Hey Tami, so Curt recommends having a 1/4 and a 1/2 inch drill bit to install the Curt hitch part # C11604 so as long as you have both of those sizes you'll be able to install this. To enlarge the holes it's recommended to use a die grinder or a dremol.

Is There a 2" Trailer Hitch for a 2016 Honda Civic Sedan
I do have an option for you but there are not any class III, 2" trailer hitches for a 2016 Honda Civic. There are only class 1, 1-1/4" options like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11604 which is what I recommend using. That said, you can use an adapter like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" part # e43YR or part # e93YR but just keep in mind, they reduce capacity so you're now limited to 100 lbs for the bikes and rack.

Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Honda Civic LX 4 Door
There is only one Curt hitch that fits your 2018 Honda Civic sedan and it's the Curt hitch part # C11604. I would actually recommend the Curt part # C92UR instead though for your vehicle because it does not require a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack and because only the hitch tube hangs down below the rear bumper so it is much less visible.

As long as your 2017 Honda Civic LX doesn't have the center exhaust, there is a trailer hitch available for your vehicle. If you've got the Coupe or Hatchback models I recommend using the Curt # C11463 or if you've got a Sedan I recommend the Curt # C11604, since Curt hitches tend to have a more durable powder coating that ultimately helps prolong the life of your hitch and fend off rust/corrosion. Hey Robert, it looks like all of the hitches we have for a 2018 Honda Civic sedan are going to be class I 1 1/4" hitches like the Curt # C11604. You could still use this hitch theoretically with a hitch expander # HTAD which would convert your 1 1/4" hitch to a 2" hitch, but you'd loose half your capacity so depending on how much your rack and bikes weigh it could still be an option.

I looked online and it looks like your 2016 Honda Civic is rated to tow a small trailer so with the Curt Hitch part # C11604 you'd easily be able to tow the sailboat trailer weight you mentioned. There aren't any trunk mounted bike racks that will have the capacity you are needing. Trunk racks pretty much max out at 35 lbs per bike.
