Does a Trailer with Two 3,500 Pound Axles have a Gross Capacity of 7,000 Pounds

So, if I have two, 3,500lb axles, is the trailer rated for 7,000lbs?

Most likely, the trailer would be rated for 7,000 pounds gross if it has two 3,500 pound axles. But there should be a sticker or plate somewhere on the frame near the front of the trailer that lists its official capacity.
Also, the trailer can only be rated as high as the lowest rated component. So for example if the coupler is only rated for 6,000 pounds and everything else is rated at 7,000 then you have to go by the 6,000 pound amount.

I have a trailer with two axles on it no trailer brakes at all iv been told that it's a 7000 trailer, can I buy 2 5000 lb axles with brakes on it and safely haul 10000 lbs

Hello! I own a home made tiny home on wheels. I am not the person who built it. It is on a reinforced 1976 dual Axle trailer. They welded additional cross bars for support to increase the trailer weight capacity. I have already towed this trailer two hours uphill, to get it home, with great success. Now I'm looking at moving it back down the hill and I need trailer brakes. The trailer has the original, inoperable trailer brakes on it, sizing 10"x1.5". I've read that I can only get trailer brakes rated for 3500lbs on that size axel, I'm wondering if since it's a dual Axle, if having the 3500lb rating brakes on each tire, being dual axle, will increase the braking capacity to 7000lb? Also would love to hear recommendations on good brands and any special tools I should look into purchasing for this at home project.

I have a auto transporter 7000lb GVWR with two axels, rear axel has no brakes but has flange. 5 stud 14” rims. On both axels. I what to add brakes to rear axel. So I’m I suppose too order 3500 lb brake and dum assemble because there’s two axels that are 3500 lb each making the trailer 7000 GVWR?
