How to Install the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2005 Chevy Silverado, we'll be installing the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part number TGMRCK25S. To begin our install, we'll first need to remove the old or manufactured bump stops. To remove the bump stops, we'll remove the two nuts that secure the studs that go up through the frame. With both nuts removed, we can then pull the bump stop down and out of the frame. Now we'll go ahead and set the hardware and bump stop aside as it will not be reinstalled. Next we'll go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side. Note with this install, each process we do on one side will get repeated identically on the opposite side. Now with both of the old bump stops removed, we're ready to go ahead and begin the assembly of the new Timbren Suspension Enhancement System.

For this application, there are a couple variances on how it can be installed. For assembling our ion spring and upper bracket to the maximum ride height, we'll take the upper bracket, insert the spacer puck, and then the spring. Then we'll take the bolt that will go down through the ion spring, through the spacer puck and secure into the upper bracket. However, for this application we will not be using the spacer puck. So we'll go ahead and take it out of the equation, take our bolt, put it through the ion spring, noting as it goes through the ion spring it will go through the washer inside the ion spring. Once it's through the washer, we'll go through the top of the spring and directly into the upper bracket, threading into the weld nut.

Once we thread it in, we'll go ahead and tighten it down. Now we have both sides assembled, we're ready to begin our install. As we put the new Timbren in position, we'll note that we make sure that we have the tab of the upper bracket facing the front of the vehicle. We'll also note that the offset of the upper bracket will be in the direction of the tire. We'll secure the upper bracket into the same pre-drilled holes that we just removed the old bump stop from. Our securing hardware will go down through the frame, through the upper bracket and secured with a flat washer and nylon lock nut. Once we have the hardware installed finger tight we'll go ahead and tighten it down.

Now with the driver side done, we'll go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger side. With both sides installed we're ready to hit the road. That does it for our install of the Timbren Vehicle Suspension Enhancement System, part number TGMRCK25S, on our 2005 Chevy Silverado. .
