Can a Ball Mount Receiver Be Flipped Upside Down To Gain Additional Height For Leveling a Trailer?

Can I safely mount A ball up side down in the receiver? To get 2inch more height. In other words, can I put the ball in the other side of the shaft and install it in the receiver?

Expert Reply:
Yes, if you are talking about using a ball mount like the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45030. This type of ball mount can be used in either a rise or drop orientation to achieve the correct height to level the trailer. The 2" Hitch Ball # 63845 can simply bolt onto whichever side it needs to be on.
If a ball mount can only be used in either the rise or drop position it will have that information on the ball mount. If you need help in determining if your ball mount is safe to use please let me know which ball mount you have.
