What is the White Wire of a Trailer Taillight Wiring Harness For
Published 04/28/2015 >
Question:
The new LED trailer lights I purchased have three wires. Green/Brown/White and Yellow/Brown/White coming out of them. What are the White wires for? I only have Green/Brown and Yellow/Brown going back to my existing lights.

Expert Reply:
The white wires of your trailer lights are the ground wires. It sounds like your previous trailer lights grounded through the mounting hardware so because of that you would need to run the white wire of the new assemblies to either a clean metal surface that touches the trailer frame or back to the main ground for the trailer's wiring.
The green would be right stop/turn and the yellow would be left stop turn. The brown is taillights.
