With a 3,500-lb maximum gross trailer weight and 525-lb tongue weight rating, this Class III hitch is built for everyday towing and hauling. It’s ideal for carrying bike racks, cargo carriers, and small trailers without feeling like you’re pushing the limits. The standard 2" x 2" receiver opening works with most common hitch accessories, making it easy to get more use out of your vehicle whether you’re hauling gear or prepping for a weekend escape.
The sturdy, square-tube steel design is finished in a matte black powder coat that stands up to rust and corrosion. This rugged coating gives it a carbide-like look that hides scuffs and dirt better than glossy finishes, so it keeps looking sharp after years of use. You can hit rough roads or dusty trails without worrying about the hitch showing every scratch.

This fully welded hitch bolts right onto the frame with no welding required. The precision, robotic welds ensure everything lines up perfectly for a smooth install using basic tools. All the mounting hardware and installation instructions come in the box, so you can get it done in your own driveway without special equipment.
This receiver is made from high-strength steel and designed for dependable performance over time. It includes lifetime technical support from the experts at etrailer, who install and test these hitches every day. That means you can count on reliable guidance anytime you need it—long after you’ve bolted it on.

Great Product!
The unit was delivered 2 days after I ordered it. It was relatively easy to install - it took two of us about an hour. It fit perfectly and looks great!
Effortless installation.
A breeze to install.
Just got done installing. Videos were spot on. Took me and the wife two hours.
This was an easy install. I had to drop the mufler down a bit to fit this. The n once the bracket was situated loose, I simply retightened the mufler back in it's original place. The fish wire was freaking amazing. I used an alagator clip and a magnet to help me pull the wire through. There is no need to drill any holes. Just use the slightly bigger hole slightly in front of the target bolt holes on the side of the frame rather than under it. It worked like a charm! I'm glad I did this myself rather than blow $$ on having it installed.
I e-mailed support to verify fit to a 2023 Ford escape PHEV, and they said its an exact fit. I knew from looking at the photos I would have to modify the hitch frame. Using a cut-off disk I removed several inches on the drivers side frame and sacrificed one bolt hole to accomodate a mounted plastic box that Ford installed on part of the frame. I could not locate all of the fasteners for the box so removing some steel was my best option. My hitch will only be used to haul a bike carrier or an aluminum cargo box, so this hitch will do the job. No modifications had to made to the vehicle. Every thing was stock when complete with the hitch install. Photo taken was without the heat shield, the last part to install when the job was done.
This is the 3rd hitch I have bought from etrailer so you can already tell that my experience has been excellent. The fit is perfect and took only a bit over an hour to install including stops to talk with neighbors. I am 71 yrs old and retired, so no need to rush. Before buying the hitch I had submitted a question regarding my application and received a quick and complete response.
I would not consider going anywhere but etrailer to purchase a hitch or other related parts.
Fit and assembled (mostly) as advertised. Note on the 2022 Escape SE Hybrid there is a heat shield extends onto the passenger side frame where the hitch is mounted, so there is a fastener that needs to be removed before you mount the hitch for a clean install. Otherwise all good. The video help was outstanding.
Website was easy to use. YouTube video was a great reference. Delivery was fast. Installation was easy. Fitment was right on. Definitely a doable project for the first-timer and quick work for a DIYer.
Ordering was easy, shipping was quick! Installing tomorrow!
Easy install with the wire-threaded bolt holding tools! No issues or problems.
Installed on my 2021 escape phev, watch the videos on pulling the bolts through and moving some egr sensor slightly aside. Thanks etrailer.
Easy to follow instructions and the wire fish-line made this a breeze to install. Wish I didn't have to modify the holes on the frame of the car to accommodate the holes on the hitch (seems like they could just manufacture the holes on the hitch larger/ in a different location to begin with), but overall very pleased with the product. Bought to tow small trailer and also a bike rack. Seems like this will do the job just fine.
The video was spot on that was attached to the order email. Took longer to gather tools than it did to install. Looks great, well made and well designed.

No problems since the installation. I recently rechecked the torque on the mounting bolts and was pleased to find they were still dead on spec. I use this to haul a small trailer and it works perfectly.
Worked like a charm for the 2022 Escape hybrid. Two person job. Watch the video all the way through, set up your gear and have the video handy. Once the holes were widened, it went super smooth.
There are a few comments saying this fits Hybrid and PHEV. This does not fit hybrid and PHEV models. The website should allow selecting for PHEV and Hybrid because when you put in the year make and model it says "fits" then later in the listing it does say Excluding PHEV and Hybrid but it should filter for that so no mistakes are made. Hitch arrived on time and would have been great if you could select fof hybrid and I would have not gotten the wrong one.
After watching video. It went OK, I used jack stands to help
Looks great, works great. I had mine installed by my mechanic, as my 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid had some complexity required for installation (exhaust had to be moved out of the way). I don’t use it for towing, just to connect a bike rack. I appreciate that there’s no visible bar across the backside, the only part you see is the square receiver tube.

Still looks and works great!
I didn’t have to bore any holes larger, I found a hole in the frame on the side that I was able to thread it thru.
All I needed was to remove some on two rear nuts flashing because it was just a little too large and ran into the exhaust mounting bracket. Maybe overkill but also used blue locktite on
the nuts. It took 1 h and 20 minutes to install
The hitch worked out great. No issues with the installation. The instructions were very good and the on line video was very helpful.
Installation of etrailer Hitch e89YR on 2024 Ford Escape Hybrid (not PHEV)
This hitch is a perfect fit to the frame. No enlarging of existing holes in the frame is necessary, including access to insert the bolts and retainers.
On each side of the frame (outboard side), just forward of the exhaust hanger mount, is an oblong hole in the frame. I tried to upload a photo, but the upload keeps failing. The retainer and bolt will pass through this oblong hole, without enlarging the hole.
Insert the fishwire, coiled end first, into the bolt hole closest to the rear of the car, and thread the coiled end through the frame and out through the oblong hole on the side of the frame. This was easier than working the fishwire in the other direction.
Once the threaded end emerges through the oblong hole, thread the retainer and then bolt onto the fishwire. Then carefully insert the retainer, then bolt, through the oblong hole. To get the bolt through the oblong hole, set one of the carriage bolt sides against a flat side of the hole and push the other side of the bolt through the hole. You might need a slight tap to push the bolt head through the hole. Then carefully pull the retainer and bolt through the frame and into position in the bolt hole. Repeat this for the middle bolt hole and then the forward bolt hole. Following this order keeps the bolts being pulled through the frame from catching on the other bolts.

Thanks, Pete! We appreciate the tips...
The hitch is high quality. I recommend following the installation instructions exactly. I had a couple holes that didn't line up and I had already bolted 4 down. I had to order the accessory bolts and fishwires (luckily etrailer gave me a good price), and buy a rasp bit for my drill to finish installation. Installation took longer than expected, but wasn't that hard. There was a slotted hole on the side of the frame that the hardware fit through.
I had this unit installed on a 2023 Ford Escape. It was an exact fit Due to my age I had a garage install it but it was a piece of cake for them. There may have been a bolt to temporarily remove on each side of the frame. The fit means that the bolt-up left no gaps and as the picture shows it fits like etrailer said it would. I just go up town and rent a trailer when I need to move a large bulky item that doesn't fit into my truck box.I use it for utility trailer or my bike rack. I'm satisfied.

That's great, Mike! What kind of bike do you ride? The hitch looks awesome :)
Great product and is exactly what I needed to be able to haul my bike around instead of using my truck. Can definitely be installed by 1 person with a jack an a set of jack stands. I would recommend fishing the two bolts closest to the rear on each side through the side of the chassis. You’ll find the hole it’s slightly larger than the rest and you can feed the bolt and gusset through just fine.
Did wires though receiver and put the nuts on to hold the first receiver in place and you can drill out the area that will be needed to pass the last two bolts because they do not align. Other than that pretty straight forward. The fishing wires are a game changer when installing something like this.
