Features to know about

Effortless Installation with Precision Fit: Custom Design for a Seamless Look

Installing a trailer hitch can be a daunting task, but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver makes it straightforward with its custom fit. Engineered specifically for vehicles like the Ford Escape Hybrid, it integrates into your car's design effortlessly. The concealed cross tube ensures the hitch is mostly hidden, maintaining the sleek look of your vehicle while offering the maximum capacity for towing.

Rugged and Resilient: Gloss Black Powder Coating for Superior Rust Resistance

Towing under varying weather conditions can be tough on your vehicle, but the Curt hitch stands strong with its durable high-gloss black powder coating. This finish not only enhances the visual appeal with an OEM-like appearance but also provides superior resistance to rust, ensuring longevity and maintaining the aesthetic of your car throughout seasonal changes.

Unwavering Strength and Stability: 3,500 lbs Towing Capacity and 525 lbs Tongue Weight

Need a reliable hitch for your adventures? With a Class III rating, this hitch offers robust towing capacity—up to 3,500 lbs of gross trailer weight and 525 lbs of maximum tongue weight. It's perfect for trips with a bike rack, utility trailer, or even a small camper, ensuring your equipment is transported securely and safely.

Foolproof Installation: Bolt-On Design with No Drilling Required

Ever been frustrated by complicated installations? This Curt hitch features a bolt-on design that eliminates the need for drilling, making the process less time-consuming and incredibly straightforward. With the right tools, you’ll have it set up in a matter of hours, allowing more time for the activities you love.

Dual Layer Protection: Co-Cured Anti-Corrosion and High-Gloss Finish

For those concerned with their hitch lasting the test of time, the Curt hitch is not just powder-coated but also co-cured with a rust-resistant liquid Bonderite coating, providing dual-layered protection against corrosion. This ensures it withstands the elements and preserves its structural integrity for years to come, no matter the weather conditions.

Hassle-Free Maintenance: Open-Back Receiver for Easy Cleaning

Keeping your hitch clean shouldn’t be a chore. Thanks to the open-back receiver design, this hitch allows for easy cleaning, preventing the buildup of dirt and debris over time. This practical feature maintains your hitch’s efficiency and keeps it looking pristine with minimal effort.

If you can read, you too can install the Curt trailer hitch in an hour or so. You need to elongate existing round holes to accept the bolts. I used a 1/2 carbide double cut teardrop rasp in my Makita 1/2" cordless. You will drop your exhaust to accommodate the placement of the hitch. Do it while it's cool if you're outdoors. You will work-up a sweat. Installation of the bolts is genius.

This is the second purchase of this product for our new Corsair vehicle. Installation is reasonable with assistance of a second person. I recommend creating a template of the holes on the unit to mark placement on the vehicle instead of tracing the rear hole using the unit itself. Watch the E-Trailer video to learn how to perform the installation since the manufacturer's paper instructions lack the complete details. The design is such that the bulk of the unit is hidden from view behind the rear bumper.

Great hitch that lasted for years! I would definitely buy another one.

I am very happy with the hitch/receiver. Installation went well too. Perfect!

by:
2020 Ford Escape

The hitch is great An angle grinder and large drill bit worked great hogging out the 3rd hole which needs to be closer to the other hitch holes and that’s why a template would be helpful but the hitch is super sturdy

by:

Good quality, good fit, the video is a must watch prior install.

by:

This is the second time I have purchased a hitch for different vehicles through e trailer and the service and products have always been A+.

by:

Super great service. Delivered early. Looks to pretty to mount. Thanks again for everything. Hope to mount it tomorrow.

by:

Great hitch receiver. Install went well and fits perfect. Was done by myself. Installed on a 2022 Ford Escape.
The only thing I had to do which wasn't clear in the instructions is I had to open up the front hole in the frame enough to accommodate the head of the carriage bolt not just the plate. I actually put the first plate in place and found out I couldn't get the bolt in the hole in the frame. So I just had to open the hole in the frame a little larger. No problem. I didn't need an extra set of hands, I used jack stands and floor jack for install without raising the vehicle.

2020 Ford Escape

Fits my 2020 Hybrid Escape and looks nice. Installation was pretty simple, except I needed to enlarge both the hole used to pass bolts through and the elongated holes in the frame rail. I used a Dremel since that's what I had on hand. I wish the holes in the hitch matched the bolt holes in the vehicle and that the bolt heads were modified so there wouldn't be any need for vehicle modification. I feel it's a bit over-built, especially for the hybrid since the OEM hitch has a max tongue load of 350lb and hybrid is rated for a 1500lb trailer. I'll also mention the foot activated liftgate still works. Oh.. and I also wish the bolts were a little bit longer. Some of them just barely peek out the other side of the nut.

by:

This hitch fit our 2020 Escape Titanium Hybrid perfectly! As a 68 yr old, I was able to install this hitch single-handedly (with the help of a piece of firewood cut to the appropriate length to support the other end of the hitch) in about an 90 minutes while laying on the ground. The online video is very helpful and we'll done! NOTE for you DIY's: I was able to insert the backing plates and the bolts without enlarging the slots on the sides of the frame rails. CAUTION: wear safety goggles to keep the sand and dirt from getting in your eyes while working under the vehicle, you'll be thankful afterwards! I couldn't be happier with my dealings with etrailer or with the quality of this hitch!

by:

This hitch receiver is strong, and will most likely last longer than me. However, the square receiver part is tilted slightly to the right. I got it installed by a pro, and it is installed horizontally correctly. I think the welder or a welding machine did not do a very good job. I am concerned that when I install a cargo carrier, the carrier will be tilted also, which my wife and I will not like. I am attaching a picture, and it shows a very slight lilt. That tilt will be amplified with the carrier because it's 5 feet long. I don't want to go through the hassle of getting it removed and returning, so I will keep it.

by:

Love it!! We added the hitch receiver to carry a dirtbike on the back of my wife’s 2020 Lincoln Corsair. Zero issues

by:

Just what I needed! Has been working without any problems. Thanks!

by:

Customer service is great! The tow hitch I bought fits a 2020 Ford Escape perfectly, just word of advice it will take longer the 40 minute that described in the instruction. Give yourselves around 4 hours or so, you will definitely need it. Other than that the product looks is great. Haven’t used it yet.

2020 Ford Escape

Perfect fit for my 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid. Watched video online before hand, everything went exactly as shown. Used a unibit to slightly enlarge 1 set of holes on each side to let the bolts/hardware pass through. About 1.5 hrs from start to finish. Everything about the unit is quality. And it looks great, hardly noticable.

by:

This company is top notch! They never cease to amaze me and provide excellent products and always deliver.

by:

This hitch was easy to install and the additional wire harness was easy to apply.

by:
2022 Ford Escape

Installation on my 2022 Escape Hybrid went smoothly. Thought I'd need a hand holding it in position, but was able to easily do it myself by propping it on a wood block while attaching the bolts. Grinding the one hole larger on each side wasn't too difficult with only a dremel and a basic aluminum oxide grinder bit, but it took a little while. I'm sure it would be quicker with a proper die grinder bit. I'd recommend tracing the hitch holes onto a piece of cardboard to mark the hole enlargement, but note that the hole has to also get wider to fit the bolts through. The included fish wires work amazingly well to fish the plates and bolts through.

2024 Ford Escape

Bolts don't fit in the holes need special tools to make fit

by:

Completely satisfied.

by:
2022 Lincoln Corsair

Hole didn't line up with frame had to bore out to fits cars frame

by:

The hitch was in good shape when delivered and was installed as suggested. The install time estimates are less than it actually took.

by:

Great quality product. Easy to install. Super fast shipping and great communication! Would definitely recommend!

  • Base Plate And Trailer Hitch For A 2024 Ford Escape Plug In Hybrid (PHEV)
Hi Bob! We have you covered for both. For the base plate, I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM77GR. They make the best base plate in the industry and are the ones to get. That said, do you already have tow bars? If they aren't Roadmaster, let me know what they are and I can see if we have something to match it. If you do not have a tow bar yet, I have the one I recommend below as well as the needed wiring: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster...

  • Will The Curt Hitch C23FR Fit A 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Hi Russell! The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C23FR will fit standard and Hybrid versions of the 2022 For Escape, but not the PHEV. For that we have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C67MJ. With that being said, I am not seeing that anything special needs to be done to accommodate the hybrid battery. You will need to enlarge a few holes in the frame, but other than that, it basically bolts right up. What are you wanting the...

The design and specs are the same so it really comes down to a preference on the finish between the two. I prefer the matte black on the etrailer hitch since it has more of an OEM look. • DIfference Between Curt and etrailer Trailer Hitch for 2023 Ford Escape
The Curt # C23FR and etrailer Hitch # e89YR have the same design and specs. The main difference between the two is the powder coat finish. The Curt has a glossy finish while the etrailer hitch has a matte finish. The matte finish gives it more of an OEM look and typically blends better on the vehicle. This also does a better job hiding dirt and scratches compared to the glossy finish. If you aren't concerned with the look of the hitch I would choose whichever has the better price.

I really like this hitch because the crossbar is completely concealed behind the rear bumper and the 2" receiver is all that is visible.
