Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20206 Review

Today we're going to review part number BDW20206. This is the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. Now this wiring kit will provide a power connection for your Bulldog winch to the rear of your vehicle. It is designed to fit most standard bed trucks. And if you can see, it actually includes 20 feet of both two-gauge power, right over here the red power. And the black ground wires with the looped ends.

It has the crimp connector attached. Now there are two connectors. One's already attached on the two wires, and the other one is here to choose to attache with these connectors to connect to the wire on your winch. Now these are 20 feet long, these are designed to attach these ends to your battery in your vehicle, and this one's to the back of your vehicle. Now it does include this dust cover, as you can see, since it's not connected to any connector, you put a dust cover in there to help protect it from the elements. When you're ready to connect it, you just pull the dust cover out.

Then you have your terminals right there. Now what you end up doing- that also comes with these cable ties that are used to secure these longer wires on your vehicle. Now what you'll do is take your two connector terminals right here and you'll run your wires from your winch into there. So you have your positive and negative wires from your winch. And then to attach these to this, what you'll want to do, is hold this up this way, and they sort of have a hook to them. There's a little hook right there.

With the hook pointing down, what you'll want to do is match up the positive from your winch wire into the positive one, just push it in there. If you push it in far enough, it'll just click into place. Same over here. It says negative. This should be attached to the negative wire.

Make sure the hook's pointing down, push it in, and it locks into place. Pretty simple to do. Then your wires from your winch will be in here and all you have to do is- these will be from your battery in your vehicle. You just push those together, just like that, and it gives you a nice weatherproof seal. Elements can't get to your terminals, and you have a good connection for your winch. When you want to unhook it, just pull them apart, and they pop right apart, and then put your dust cover in just like that to protect your terminals from the elements. That should do it for the review of part number BDW20206, the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. .

Looks like a quality product as has been everything I have ever ordered from you guys!!

by:

Great product, easy to install, jumbo size zip ties, [could use a few more] I like how the dust cap snaps in, not just a piece of rubber that we all know falls out, the wire holding the dust cap could be about an inch longer to make it a little easier to remove and put on [no big deal]

by:

Another quality Bulldog product. Came with everything needed for a clean, straightforward installation and I like that it included an extra plug and necessary components which will enable me to easily fabricate a custom connection to my trailer winch. No janky, homemade wiring for my rig.

by:

Solid kit. Heavy duty wires that ran nicely along the frame. I recommend this product.

Wire kit works great. Ran the wire from the truck battery to the rear of the truck. Made a short connection cable to interface with the winch.

made an easy install and works great

Good quality, works as advertised.

by:

A bit pricey, but convenient to install quickly.

  • Wiring Needed For ComeUp Off-Road Winch At Rear Of My 2005 Toyota Sequoia
I have two options for wiring for your winch. You can go with the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit - Quick Connect to Terminal End - 2 Gauge - 20' Long, part # BDW20206, which comes with 20' long 2 gauge wire. If that is not long enough we do offer this same kit with 24' length, 2 gauge wire, part # BDW20207. I have included product description links and a video review link below.

  • Winch And Wiring Harness For A Rear Mounted Winch On A 2014 Toyota Tacoma
I recommend going with the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206 for your 2014 Toyota Tacoma. This wiring kit is 20' long, is constructed from thick 2 AWG wire so it can be used on heavier capacity winches if need be, and also features a pair of quick connects so you can easily connect the winch to the wiring. If you're needing a winch tray so you can mount your winch to your vehicle, the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Mounting Plate with Handles # BDW20011 will work with winches...

  • Recommended Power Winch For Raising Enclosed Trailer Door Ramp
I called my contacts at our winch suppliers to see if there were any winches available that perform as you requested. I was unable to find a winch that had an auto shutoff when the winch senses a trailer door is closed since winches constantly feel resistance. They did agree it was a great idea but it would require a spring loaded trigger button to stop power to the winch which they currently don't make. I'm sure with a little engineering you could make something like # LC379388 work. Otherwise...

I am not sure if you meant 14 feet total for both sides or 14 feet for each portion of the wiring but we have the part # BDW20205 which is 7-1/2 feet in length or the # BDW20206 which is 20 feet but the closest option we have to 14 feet.

  • Winch Wiring Harness Kit For Multiple Vehicles
There are a few things you will need to consider when determining which kit to purchase. The size of the winch and the length of cable you will need are two factors that you will need to now before purchasing. We carry both Bulldog and Superwinch winch cable wiring kits that will work on both of your vehicles, but all the kits are not the same. Both Bulldog and Superwinch use different gauge cables for their kits. The larger your winch's pull capacity that you want to install, the larger...

  • Does the Pollak Single-Pole Trailer Connector Provide a Ground Connection
The # PK11851 Single Pole Round Pin Trailer Connector is designed to deliver power to a trailer. It is not grounded, as the battery on the tow vehicle is already grounded and trailer mounted equipment is typically grounded as well. The ground connection would typically be carried through an additional connector, depending on the piece of equipment you are supplying power to you might need to increase the ground wire gauge. If you need the connector to power a winch, you would be better...

You will then install a wire from the Redarc Battery Charger, # 331-BCDC1250D to the crank/start battery in your tow vehicle. I recommend you go with a large gauge wire to compensate for voltage drop. We actually have a winch install kit that will work for this purpose, the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit, # BDW20206. You will also need the 40-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc...

  • Wiring for Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit
On the winch side of the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit Item # BDW20206, the wires are designed to be crimped and soldered onto your wires. If you take a look at the video I've linked, you can see this addressed by our installer starting at about the 5:30 mark. As for the wire gauge on your winch, I recommend taking a look at your owner's manual if you still have it laying around somewhere, but 2 gauge is pretty typical on the 9,500 lb winches we carry such as the Bulldog # BDW10045.
