Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit Installation - 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup

Today on our 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 we will be installing the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, part number BDW20205. First thing we'll do when we're ready to install our Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit is go ahead and open up the hood of our vehicle. With the hood open, we'll go ahead and take out our Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit. When you pull it out of the package you're going to have that dust cover and protector over the top. We'll go ahead and leave that on for the time being, and unravel the 7-1/2' of positive and negative cable. This way we could route it back to the battery from our desired location. Note that on the end you're going to have your fully integrated positive and negative terminal tie downs, and on the other end it's going to be fully encased and ready to operate. We're going to go ahead and route our wires up the frame and channel tubing of our vehicle, up over the top of the fender to where they come out right on the backside of the battery.

We decided to put it that way. That way we can go around all the other wiring and anything hot or anything that can damage our wire on the inside of the vehicle. If it helps, you can do one at a time just so you can grab onto it as it's coming by. Go ahead and pull it up, and we'll just set it off to the side. We'll do the same thing with the negative wire. Now with our slack up top for mounting our positive and our negative cable, we'll go ahead and make sure that we tie down everything and make sure that we have enough length left on our cable to have it in the desired location, which for us is going to be right about here, located in the front bumper. Now with our cables the length that we want them up at the front, we'll go ahead and loosen up our negative cable first and attach that.

Once you have it attached, go ahead and plug it back in and tighten back down your screw. At this point, it would also be good to make sure that you have the terminal plug here tightened down as well. That way you have a nice solid connection. Now let's go ahead and do the same thing to our positive side. When you don't have you power wiring in use, always make sure that you have the dust cover over it. That way, the terminals are protected against any kind of corrosion.

When you're ready, just pull on the lanyard and remove the cover. Also included in your kit is going to be your negative in that's going to go on your winch or plow or whatever you're planning on using. You'll take your silver-plated terminals that we're also included, placing your wire into the end, crimping it down, and then pressing them through until they snap in place. Once they snap in place, we will then go ahead and plug it into our receiver. Now it will be powered up and ready to roll. When we don't have it in use, go ahead and place that cover over the top and tuck it back behind the bumper, out of sight and out of mind.

That will do it for our installation of the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, part number BDW20205, on our 2007 Dodge Ram 1500.

Great setup. I love being able to quick connect my winch, jumper cables and inverter, and not having to mess with the hood and battery anymore. Next project is to run a second one to the rear. 579268

A year later and everything is working just as well as the day Ive installed it. No more messing around under the hood. Ive since about a few more quick connect ends for other accessories, all work great.

Hi quality product, better than I expected. Also reasonably priced. It will be a quality accessory added to the vehicle and be interchangeable to the next vehicle I purchase. Thanks etrailer for making my shopping easier. AND Talk about quick service and delivery all 5 Star for me. I purchased both front and rear hook ups for my winch or other things that will need power and they are both just what the doctor ordered. 449928

The ring terminals of the Bulldog Winch Front Wiring Kit # BDW20205 are soldered to the wire.

  • Winch Wiring Kit for Polaris Sportsman 800
You might want to check your specific winch to confirm that it is not trying to draw more power than what is available from the Polaris. Winches need heavy-gauge wiring such as kit # BDW20205 from Bulldog, which includes 2-gauge power cables. Your wiring may simply not be able to deliver the required current for your specific winch.

  • Quick Connect Wiring Harness for a Superwinch 4,500K Electric ATV Winch
In order to install a quick connect winch wiring harness on both the front and rear of your 2016 John Deere Gator 825i, I recommend using the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit part # BDW20205. You will need 2 harnesses, 1 for the front of the ATV and 1 for the rear of the ATV. The harness wires directly to your battery and can support winches up to 95 amps which is more than enough for the 21 amp rating of the Superwinch Terra Series ATV Winch part # SW1145220. Each cable end on the wiring harness...

  • Can 14/2 Wire be Used to Power Winch from Truck Battery
You will not want to use 14/2 wire to supply power to your winch as that is 14 gauge wire which isn't thick enough. Instead you will want to use a kit like part # BDW20205 or # BDW20207 which uses 2 gauge wire. Winches can pull upwards of 350 amps so it takes pretty heavy-duty wiring.

  • Removing Terminals from Winch Quick Disconnect Connectors
Sounds like you are trying to pull the metal contacts out of the quick connect assembly. What you'll need to do is insert a slot screwdriver down into the opening end of the connector with the slot perpendicular to the opening so that you can depress the metal tab that holds the pins into the house and allow you to pull the lead out of the back of the connector.

  • Charging Cable Extension for Solar Panel Charging System
The wire gauge on your solar panel's charge controller should have been determined to be adequate based on the panel's output, to ensure it does not limit charging performance. Our 100-watt solar systems like # 34272630, shown on the linked page, use 4-gauge wire. I recommend you use the heaviest gauge wire you can and the shortest possible extension length. I'm not sure how much length you need but we do offer a 30-foot extension from Go Power # 34270356 as well as a 7-1/2-foot 2-gauge...

  • Recommended Electric Winch, Winch Receiver Mount, and Quick Connect Wiring for Complete System
For an electric winch like the Bulldog Winch Standard Series Off-Road Winch # BDW10043, you can use a receiver mount like the Bulldog Winch Receiver Mount Kit - 2" x 2" # BDW20155. This makes location easy and you can absolutely add the quick connect wiring like you mentioned. For a 7-1/2 foot long option, use # BDW20205. For a 16 foot long option, use # BDW20043. For a 24 foot long option, use # BDW20026. You may also want the mounting bracket # 18140 to secure the connection...

  • What Quick Connects Do I Need to Install Quick Connect On My Bulldog Winch
It sounds like you're looking for the quick disconnect that goes on the cables of your winch. If you've got a Bulldog winch you can use the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/Dust Cover - 6 AWG # BDW20047 if your winch has 6 gauge wires; if your winch has 1/0 gauge wires you'll want to use # BDW20172. Using one of these two parts will allow you to put the quick disconnect ends on your Bulldog winch. Once you've installed these on your winch, you'll be able to use the...

  • Charging Dump Trailer Battery Recommendations
The CTEK 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger w/ Pulse Maintenance # CTEK56353 is a charger that you'd use when the trailer is parked. It plugs into a wall outlet and will charge your dump trailer battery all the way up quickly. It would not be a charger that could charge the trailer battery as the truck and trailer are travelling down the road. I attached a review video for the charger for you to check out as well. If you wanted to directly charge the winch off your truck battery then...

  • Winch Wiring Harness Kit For Multiple Vehicles
There are a few things you will need to consider when determining which kit to purchase. The size of the winch and the length of cable you will need are two factors that you will need to now before purchasing. We carry both Bulldog and Superwinch winch cable wiring kits that will work on both of your vehicles, but all the kits are not the same. Both Bulldog and Superwinch use different gauge cables for their kits. The larger your winch's pull capacity that you want to install, the larger...

The Bulldog Winch Booster Cable Set part # BDW20197 is composed of the Bulldog Winch Booster Cable Set part # BDW20298 and the Bulldog Winch Front Wiring Kit part # BDW20205. Therefore, it sounds like you are just looking for the Bulldog Winch Front Wiring Kit part # BDW20205. That said, you may or may not need to switch the connections around on the front wiring kit to match the cables you have now but the connectors are included.

  • Winch Quick Disconnect Kit Recommendations For The Front And Back Of 2013 Ford F-350
I recommend Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit # BDW20206 for the rear and # BDW20205 for the front. The rear kit includes 20 ft of wire and the front kit includes 7-1/2 ft of wire. Both feature thick 2 gauge wire, recommended for higher capacity recovery winches, and include the quick disconnect terminals for each end. If you do not have a winch I recommend the Bulldog Winch Heavy-Duty Series Off-Road Winch, part # BDW10012. This heavy-duty winch has a rated line pull capacity of 15,000 lbs...

  • Hitch Mount, Wiring, Wireless Remote, and Winch Cover for Bulldog Winch Alpha Series Winch
To mount the Bulldog Winch Alpha Series Off-Road Winch # BDW10048 to a 2 inch hitch receiver, you will want the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Mounting Plate with Handles # BDW20011. This winch mount will make it easy to transfer the winch from the 2 inch front hitch to the 2 inch rear hitch of your Jeep Commander. Keep in mind that when the winch is mounted to the hitch, the capacity of the winch will be limited to the hitch's capacity. I confirmed with my contact at Bulldog Winch that...

We offer the Curt Electric Winch Mount Plate, # C31010, that has three pin holes that will allow you to adjust the distance of the winch plate from the vehicle. • Recovery Winch Recommendation for a 2003 Ford F-250 Diesel
The Talon Series Winch, # SW1612201, that you referenced is a large winch and may be overkill for your truck. The Talon winches are high-performance recovery winches that they will have a faster line pull, an adjustable clutch, an upgraded remote and they offer a synthetic rope option that will not bind or fray like the steel cables. For your 2003 Ford F-250 Diesel, I recommend looking at the Rock 98 Off-Road Winch, # SW1698201. We have installed this on a 2004 F-250 and made a demonstration...

  • Quick Disconnects for Superwinch Tiger Shark 9.5K Winch # SW1595201
Electric winches over 9K such as # SW1595201 tend to use 2 gauge wire. For this particular winch I recommend wiring kit # BDW20207 which comes with quick disconnects and the wiring. If the winch is going to be at the front of a vehicle I recommend # BDW20205. And for quick disconnects by themselves you can use # BDW20133.

  • Winch Recommendation to Pull a 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty Out of Mud
I strongly recommend getting the highest capacity winch possible to pull your 2010 Ford F-250 Super Duty out of mud. I would not rely on a 1,500 or 3,000 lb winch to pull your truck out of mud. Keep in mind that when your truck is stuck and you want to use a winch to pull it out, you are pulling the weight of the truck plus the weight of the mud and any additional force against the truck that is created by the mud. All of the front mounted hitches that we carry for your truck have a...

The Superwinch Trailer and Vehicle Electric Winch Wiring Kit, for up to 16.5K Winches, # BDW20207, will work well to install a wiring connection at the rear of your Ford F-150. However for a connection at the front of your truck you will need a shorter cable to run to the battery. I recommend the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, # BDW20205. This kit will give you 7-1/2 feet of cable to wire from the front receiver to the battery. The cable is 2 gauge which will be thick enough to handle the...
