Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket

Today, we're going to be taking a look at part number BDW-20154. This is the Bulldog Hitch Mount Storage Bracket. The receiver mount storage anchor can be mounted in the bed of your truck or in a location that's out of the way. You could also use this in your garage or storage area as a storage mount for a two-inch by two-inch hitch mount accessory. Now this is designed to store the receiver mount in winch assembly when they are not being used. The receiver opening on this unit is going to measure two-inches by two-inches, it's going to feature a pinhole diameter of five-eighth's of an inch. It's made from a nice steel construction, it's got a nice, solid, smooth weld here at the base.

It's going to come with all the hardware that you need to get the mount installed. It's a really simple process- the shank of your receiver is going to slide into the two-inch by two-inch opening. You're going to slide it in to this receiver, and so you get the pinholes to line up with one another and then you'll insert a five-eighth inch hitch pin and clip or hitch lock. Now those items are sold separately but you can find them right here on our website. I want to take some time just to go over the basic measurements of this unit. Starting with the overall length here at the base, that's going to give us a measurement of eight and five-eighths of an inch.

The width of the base, that's going to give us a measurement of six and one quarter, and then the thickness of that base is going to measure a quarter of an inch. Now, the overall height, when I did a measurement, I measured it right at four and one-eighth of an inch. Again, the receiver opening is going to be two-inches by two-inches. The receiver length is going to give us a six-inch measurement. And then when I took a measurement of the height from the top of the base to the center of the receiver cube, I got a measurement of two and three-quarters of an inch, so the height that we have from the bottom of the base, or from the table top, to the center of that receiver would measure about three inches. I'll go ahead and give you the distance that we have from the mount holes.

You can see that it's going to have a mount-in location on each corner. They are situated differently, so this one and this one runs the same direction and then this one and this one runs the same direction as well. So center-on-center, taking a measurement between our mount holes, going this way it looks to be six and one-quarter of an inch and then going this direction, center-on-center, looks to be right at four inches. That's going to do it for our review of part number BDW-20154. This is the Bulldog Hitch Mount Storage Bracket with the two-inch by two-inch receiver. .

Awesome product. We mounted it to our flat deck trailer and it works perfectly for our winch. This Bulldog winch hitch mount is solid and I highly recommend it. Five Stars

I found this product was just the ticket to anchor to my concrete floors in my 4-bay garage. I attach a 12 volt wench to each one to pull disabled vehicles into each garage bay as needed. Works great!

working out perfect just what needed to mount in my shop to the concrete to use as pulling system for cars and minor bodyframe work

Just what I need for the temporary use of my Winch on the trailer.

I actually haven’t got to use any of the Bulldog winch receiver brackets as of yet (I ordered 3 total). My plans are to anchor (to the garage concrete floor with 1/2” Red Head anchor bolts) each bracket/receiver to 3 different garage bays. I have a 5,000 lb winch mounted on 2” x 2” recveiver tubing to attach to each Bulldog bracket for winching non running cars into each garage bay.

Shipping was unusual. First bracket came doubled boxed, was in great shape, all hardware was there. Second bracket was single boxed, beat up a bit, but was not damaged and hardware was still in box. Third bracket was singled boxed, beat all to heck, and all hardware was missing (had a big hole in the shipping box). Contacted ETRAILER about shipment, they said they would send out hardware ASAP.

  • Receiver Mount for Trailer Needed To Operate a 12,000LB Winch
I have a recommendation for you as the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket # BDW20154 is only designed to hold a winch when not in use. It does not have the structure required to operate a winch. For a 12,000LB Winch # BDW10040 you will need a receiver like the Draw-tite # 41990 to have enough strength for the winch to operate at full load. This receiver would need to be tied into the trailer frame to secure it.

  • Recommended Portable 10K Winch For Loading Equipment on a Tilt Trailer
I recommend using a Winch # SW39GR with the Hitch Mount # BDW20011. This way you only need a 2" receiver which is typically already on the rear of most trucks and are available for the front. For your tilt trailer you can weld on a Receiver # 337RT25806B where it works best to hold the winch. And we also have a Storage Mount # BDW20154 so you can place it in an easily dedicated area. The Winch # SW39GR does offer a wired or wireless remote. This is great as if you had an issue with the...

  • Hitch Tube that Can be Attached to A-Frame of Airstream Trailer
Best solution we have would be a weld on hitch tube like the part # 337RT255808 which is the correct 2-1/2 inch hitch size. You'd need to have this welded onto your trailer frame in a location that makes sense but we don't have a custom install solution for your trailer. What you referenced is the wrong hitch size.

  • Mounting Hole Spacing and Size for the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket
Our video team has included the hole spacing measurements at the end of the video I have linked for you. The holes on the short side are spaced 4 inches apart on center and on the long side they are spaced 6-1/4 inches apart on center. The holes are elongated so they don't have a diameter but they are approximately 3/8 inches by 3/4 inches. The hardware is included though. This is going to be the best option for what you are planning. Nothing else would be as simple or work as well.

  • Recommended Receiver Hitch Mounting Point For a Winch Inside an Enclosed Trailer
I recommend using a Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13702 to use with the winch inside your enclosed trailer. With this receiver you will be able to mount the brackets upside down and bolt to the frame on your trailer which will ensure that the bolts to not just rip through the floor material. The Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket # BDW20154 is only intended to hold the weight of the winch and not designed with enough structural integrity for pulling with the winch.

  • Can Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket # BDW20154 be Used when Operating the Winch
The Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket # BDW20154 is meant to just hold a winch on a hitch mounted winch mount. It isn't meant to be used while using the winch or as an attachment point itself. What you could do though is weld on a combo bar, # E-11, and use that since it is rated for carrying weight.

  • Solution for Easily Removable Winch for Car Hauler
Using a hitch opening like the Bulldog # BDW20154 like you referenced would be a great place to start. You'll mount this in the bed of your car hauler so that you can use a hitch mounted winch carrier like the # BDW20011 which will allow you easily remove the winch when not in use. For a winch a 4,500 lb ATV winch like the # SW1145220 would work great. It's a little smaller but has the needed capacity.

  • Could 1/2 inch Diameter Bolts Fit Mounting Slots of Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket
The Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount Storage Bracket # BDW20154 that you referenced comes with bolts for installing it but yes, 1/2 inch diameter bolts would also fit the slots.

  • Does Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount # BDW20154 Require Isolator for Install on Aluminum Bed
You'd have to come up with an isolator to install the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mount # BDW20154 on an aluminum truck bed to prevent galvanic corrosion like you mentioned. A rubber gasket (which we don't offer) would be best option.

  • Is There A Way To Mount A Winch To The Puck System In A GMC 2500
Hey Tim, that is actually a really good idea. Unfortunately, there is no aftermarket product made for attaching a winch to the 5th wheel puck system in your GMC truck. There are rail adapters that fit into the puck system though. Your best option would be to take one of these adapters, like the Curt # C88KR and have someone weld/fabricate a winch mount to fit on top of the rails. With no aftermarket products available, making your own will be the only option. Just keep in mind, this...
