• Should There be a Space Between the Bearing and Seal on a Hub
  Although there is no specific measurement for that space between the bearing and grease seal, when installing the seal you will only insert it enough so that it is flush with the hub. This is the same case if you are installing the Bearing Kit # DL21792 that you referenced. I have attached a video of a seal being replaced that you can use as a reference. Also, you will want to be sure that the bearings and seals that you use for replacements are the exact same as what you have now.

• Does Grease Seal in Trailer Hub Need to Press Against Bearings in Hub
  Grease seal width is not nearly as important as inner and out diameter. If the seal you have matches the diameters correctly and the bearings are also correct for the hub and spindle you are totally fine. You do not need to seat the seal beyond flush either.   The seal you need is going to be more associated with the inner bearing and race. The outer bearing will help identify other parts but only if I have both bearing numbers. If both bearings are the same then the seal is # 34823 or for a pair use # RG06-010. You will need to pull the hub and get the inner bearing number as well to be sure. These seals measure 1.249 inner diameter and 1.983 outer diameter.

• Should There be a Gap Between Grease Seal and Bearing on Trailer Hub
  The grease seal and your inner bearing should not be in contact with each other. There needs to be a gap between them. The grease seal doesn't have to be perfectly flush, sometimes it sits down in there slightly. Still, that only works if it isn't touching the bearing. You're going to have to remove the grease seal and install one again. I recommend using something like a 2x4 to drive it in. This will keep you from driving it in too far so it sits flush like it should and won't contact...
