If yours uses end caps with self-tapping screws, pre-drilling small pilot holes can make the screws go in easier. After tightening, check that the step is centered and fully seated in the receiver.
Footing is solid, though a little play in the receiver can happen due to normal tolerances. To reduce movement, use an anti-rattle device or a security/locking hitch bolt that clamps the shank to the receiver. If you notice any rattle, adding one of these tighteners makes a big difference and helps keep the step steady.
Confirm your receiver size first. Some 24 inch wide steps are for 2" hitches, while others include a way to fit a 1.2500 inch receiver. If your hitch is 1-1/4", choose a step designed to fit that size or one that includes the proper adapter. Match the step's shank to your receiver to avoid a loose or incompatible fit.
In many cases a 24 inch wide hitch step will not interfere with backup cameras or reverse sensors. If you've used a ball mount without issues, you'll likely be fine. If sensors do pick it up, check their aim since factory placement isn't always perfect, or consider adjusting, relocating, or disabling them. A folding step can also help reduce what shows up when you back up.
