Can a Voltage Regulator be Installed with MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent to Help Protect It
Updated 05/28/2020 | Published 06/23/2019 >
Question:
I installed my new Maxx fan 6200K and it work great than the next day it would not start up, called Airxcel Maxx Fan and they are sending me a new circuit board. I seen on the internet that the circuit boards wont stand more than 13.6 volts and alternators will put out 12 to 15 volts do you think that I should get a voltage regular to keep the volts at 12 volts? Thank for a great site and all the information you have for us.

Unless the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06200K is installed on your vehicle I wouldn't worry about a voltage regulator because the voltage will drop enough that you won't see a spike over 13.6V. If you do have the roof vent installed on your vehicle then it isn't a bad idea to install a type of voltage regulator just to be on the safe side. We don't carry anything like that but I'm sure you can acquire one through your local hardware or home improvement store.

I wish to add that the MaxxAir 6200K (No remote or motorized opening) apparently will NOT run when an RV/trailer is connected to shore power. The max volts the circuit board can handle is 13.6 and RV shore power trickle chargers provide more than that. A voltage regulator is needed in this case to drop down below 13.6 Thank you.
