Why would I choose the 2,000 lb tongue weight scale instead of the 1,000 lb model? Thanks.

Hey Jeff, great question! Choose the 2,000 lb model if you tow larger travel trailers, enclosed trailers, dump trailers, equipment trailers, or other heavy-duty trailers with tongue weights that could exceed 1,000 lbs. It works for lighter trailers as well, and can be handy if you have a variety of trailers you're working with.

The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV49FR measures tongue weights up to 2,000 lbs, giving you the capacity needed for larger towing applications. It is also available with a 6" SnapPad # BTBRV76FR to help prevent sinking and for added stability. If you only tow lighter trailers, or your vehicle has a maximum tongue weight under 1,000 lbs, you can use the 1k # BTBRV004 instead.

Due to concerns I had about my travel trailer’s tongue weight and not having easy access to truck scales, I decided to purchase the scale. My trailer is 27 feet. The scale is well built, VERY sturdy and easy to use. It has taken my worries about excessive tongue weight away. The company’s clam that the scale is easy to use and is accurate are correct!

The reason why I chose the bigger one was because mostly you always get into other weights on tongues of trailers. I used it in many different situations because everybody has a different trailer and a different tongue weight so that way. I have everything covered just do as directions. Tell you too and you’ll be just fine.

I have several different antique vehicles ranging from 1200 to 5300 lbs. I typically pull a 30 ft enclosed trailer with a car, a golf cart, and 2 E-bikes. Last trip was 1480 lbs tongue weight. My RV is rated for 1500 lbs tongue weight, so I need to know if I need to make adjustments.

I chose the 2000# scale bc I figured most of my trailers are over 1000#. My travel trailer empty was already at 1400# tongue weight, 1700# with water tanks filled. I can use the scale to adjust stuff in the trailer to maintain tongue weight in range for my weight distribution hitch.
