Pick a softer-texture cover if you want a cushioned feel for bare feet or paws. An astro turf style scrubs shoes better and helps keep dirt out but can feel aggressive on bare feet. If you prefer the scrubby style, plan on wearing footwear on the steps. If you go softer, expect a gentler feel with a little less scraping action.

Installation is straightforward. Clear instructions and spring attachments make it quick; installing five took roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
