Adjustable Base for Varying Width Boards

Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier
If you have a diverse collection of SUPs or you want to experiment with different size boards, this carrier will grow with your board collection. LockRack's adjustable stand-up paddle board carrier has an expandable base that works with ratcheting arms, allowing you to carry a variety of different width SUPs.
Series-X Universal Watersport CarrierExpandable Base

The carrier can expand or contract depending on the size of your SUP. There are 4 holes in the middle expansion piece for the t-bolts once you've adjusted the carrier to your desired width. If your board is wide, you can expand the base, threading the t-bolts through the carrier's base, then through the 2 holes furthest from the center of the bar. If you have a slimmer board, close the gap between the 2 base pieces of the carrier, then thread the t-bolts through the 2 holes closest to the center of the bar.

Ratchet Arms
When your LockRack is not in use, you don't need to uninstall the carrier from your roof. Just remove the arms, rotate them 90-degrees, and then reinsert them so that they lay parallel with the roof of your vehicle. This will reduce wind noise and give you more clearance when parking in your garage.

No Load Straps Needed
Stand-Up Paddle Board CarrierStand-Up Paddle Board Carrier
This carrier's two sets of curved, ratcheting arms firmly hold your boards and boats in place on your way to and from the water. Its design removes the need for load straps, however, bow/stern tie-downs are still recommended as they prevent your board from shifting forward or backward during travel, especially during sudden starts or stops.

Ratchet ArmsAdditional Straps

To load your SUP on to the Series-X you'll first need to remove the arms from one side of each carrier. To remove each arm, put the key in, rotate it, and pull the arm out, giving you access to the carrier's base. Once your board is loaded, push the arms in until they click into place, securing it to your vehicle. To further secure your board, you can attach bow and stern straps from your SUP to the front and rear of your vehicle (sold separately).

><img class=

If your vehicle doesn't have any tie-down points, you can get an anchor kit (sold separately), which will let you create anchor points for bow and stern straps in the creases of your vehicle's hood and hatch.

Built-In Security
Ratchet Arms

LockRack carriers have security built-in with locks in the base of the carrier, securing the ratcheting arms. Once you've locked your SUP in the carrier by pushing the arms tight against your board, the arms will stay locked until you remove them with a key.

Replacement Key Number

This carrier comes with 4 identical keys. Once the arms are locked in place, insert a key into the locking mechanism in the carrier base. Rotate the key to unlock and release the ratcheting arms. If you ever need a replacement key (sold separately) you'll need to know your original key number. This number is not located anywhere on the carrier so be sure to make note of the numbers printed on the inside of the original set of keys.

Unfortunately the track in my roof rails has grommets sticking up to hold the mount to the vehicle that will not allow the t-bolts to slide in. I can appreciate the heavy duty t-bolt and it is not lock racks issue. But I should have just bought the adapter mounts from go and could have saved myself frustration and a few dollars. Make sure your rails are not obstructed before purchasing.

by:

They look great, it didn’t come with the connection to actually connect them to my roof rack.

by:

This is the best and quick way to transport your sup, surf ski, OC etc. load and lock in 10 second. Secured and effective set up. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

by:

These racks are perfect. Easiest and most secure way to carry my sup.

by:

Works well for transporting my daughter's stand up paddle board. She does have issues sometimes getting the leverage to fully click the arms in as she is a little over 5' placing this on a 2018 Ford Escape. Outside that no problems.

After 20,000mi of hauling and adventuring with this rack, I can confidently say it holds everything down well. The plastic locking mechanism and rubber grips work consistently in the hot desert and up in the cold mountains.

The only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star review is the whistling, which I solved by compressing a foam tile between the rack and bar (photo attached).

by:

The LockRack was quick to install. I took my kayak out today- no straps to worry about or vibrating noise. Looks good and makes for an easy on and off.

by:

Missing instructions, missing parts, instructions, and keys. Also received broken parts. All that I received is in this picture. I did get the bars that are not pictured

by:

Best rack for surfboard. Well made. Fastest, simplest way to load a board. So simple and fast and a degree of security. I have a different style rack that also locks but is just thin cables. I don’t worry leaving my board on here for a brief moment away. It would take more than wire cutters to break it.

by:

The keys are an issue (wish they were metal), but everything else is great! I go sunrise kayaking only and hate putting straps on with cold hands at 3:30 in the morning. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and was able to put this on with another set of Malone J-hooks so that I can have a second kayak when I go with someone. Once the fear subsides of it possibly falling off, you realize how quick and easy this thing is to use. It takes me 1 minute instead of 9-18 minutes to get my kayak up and secure. I have tested it at 75mph without any jiggling or issues. I sat on this in my shopping cart forever and finally pulled the trigger. If you kayak at least 10 times a year or are going at high speeds for extended periods of time in warm weather, totally worth it. If not, well, there are cheaper options out there.

by:

I paddle board every day - I would not do it as much if it were not for the Lock Rack system! Stop wasting time with straps and get Lock Racks.

by:

I installed the racks on my vehicle and the Rubber for Lockrack 9-7/8" Base blew off of the racks before I ever got to put a board on them now they want $80 to replace all four of them… I just spent over $400 for the rack and I’ve already got about $80 worth of replacement parts. I guess I should’ve glued them on also it may say they lock but anybody else who buys one will have the same key plus the installation bolts are not tamper proof either.

by:

Extremely secure, safe and lockable rack that avoids the cinching and stress of traditional straps. Easy to install. Fantastic service and communication from etrailer. Highly recommended.

by:

Easy installation. Secure. No straps required. Drove 8 hours up to 80 mph, didn’t move.

by:

I'm very happy with this purchase, They installed very easily and the adjustments were easy to do and secured my kayak with ease.

by:

great rack, easy install if ur familiar with t slots. love that it locks into place easily. considering getting a second one.

by:

Great product holdsv the kayaks in place and easy to use

by:

Great company and customer service. The product was shipped quickly and arrived in a few days. The Lockrack is awesome. I use it for surfboards. It’s so easy to use. I have been using the product for several years and am very pleased with how simple and durable it is.

by:

Rec'd earlier this week, so today i will install. The item was obviously a return. The logos are nearly scratched off in places, all the items were loosely thrown in the box, and the 10mm wrench and hex key were missing. i think everything else is there. The keys should be a bright color instead of black, some spray paint will fix that. Anyhoo, i am a little disappointed.

by:

I mounted it on my Yakima racks. Very easy to do (directions could really be improved by having someone describe the steps more clearly). I have not used this. Could be a month or so. However, initially, it looks good. Too bad the angled arms that hold the kayak are not adjustable depending on the angle needed.

You can't have anything else on your crossbars if you want to use this rack. The sercurimg bars do not swivel. Target they slide aaaallll the way out then you rotate and put them back in. Very low rent design for the price. Would not recommend.

by:

Nice design but since there were no instructions it took me a bit to figure it out

by:

Wow I am loving my new set up Thank you Nicole and etrailer for all your help in getting the right look and fit

  • Can a Second SUP Carrier Be Added to the Single SUP Carrier System?
Unfortunately there is no expansion kit for the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # LR47FR and the arms are not available separately. To carry your two boards, you'd have to upgrade your entire setup with the Lockrack Adjustable Watersport Carrier - Kayak, Canoe, or 2 SUPs - Side Loading - Universal Mount # LR24VR.

  • Difference Between Channel and Universal Mounting Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier
The difference is the mounting hardware that comes with the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier - 1 SUP. The Channel Mount # LR47FR comes with mounting hardware that slides into T-Slot channels in your roof rack crossbars, while the Universal Mount # LR84VR comes with mounting hardware for T-Slot channels as well as the clamping hardware, part # LR53FR, that allows you to install it on crossbars that don't have T-Slots - like what you'd see on a lot of OEM crossbars.

  • What Lockrack Carrier Can Carry 2 Surfboards?
Both the Lockrack Surfboard # LR59FR and SUP Rack # LR47FR are only capable of carrying a single surfboard. We do have the Rack # LR67VR from Lockrack which can carry 2 small surfboards. If you have large boards you will want to consider looking at the Inno Locker Watersport Roof Rack # INA446.

  • Recommended SUP Carrier To Go On A TruXedo Elevate Rack System TX24NV
'Sup Kevin (see what I did there?). I do have a solution for you, but the Thule SUP Taxi # TH810001 and the Yakima SUPDawg # Y04075 are not going to work with the TruXedo Elevate Rack System # TX24NV. The TruXedo system has crossbars that are 3.79" wide 1.5" tall. The SUP Taxi and SUPDawg will only work with upto crossbars 3.5" wide. So, the TruXedo bars will be a hair too wide. We do have some good SUP carriers that will work on the TruXedo crossbars. One really good option is the Lockrack...

  • What Kayak Carrier do You Recommend for My 2021 Hobie Mirage Lynx Kayak?
I have a great kayak carrier option for your 2021 Hobie Mirage Lynx kayak. Although, the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # LR47FR only measures 7-5/16 inches from the base to the bottom edge of the hook. I went ahead and attached a photo with this measurement for your convenience. This low height is due to the fact that this rack is designed to use with stand-up paddle boards. For a definite fit, I recommend the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier - Canoe, Kayak,...

  • Can Malone Paddleboard Carrier be Used on Highway for Hours
The Malone paddleboard carrier part # MAL75VR doesn't have a mileage limit and as long as you use it properly it will work, but are there more secure options out there that I would rather recommend...yes. The best option would be the Lockrack part # LR47FR which is very secure and easy to use. It's not cheap though. The Inno Board Locker part # INA744 is a great option too that's more secure as well.

  • What SUP Carrier do You Recommend that Does Not Require Load Straps?
Yes! For a great SUP rack that doesn't involve any straps, I recommend the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier # LR47FR. This carrier not only does not require any load straps; it also comes with an expandable base that can be adjusted to fit SUPs of varying widths. Also, it comes with a mammoth 175 pound weight capacity so you do not need to worry about the weight of your board. The Lockrack comes with T-bolt hardware to fit into your JetStream crossbars as well.

  • Compatibility of Lockrack # LR47FR with 7-8ft. Surfboard
When determining if the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier - 1 SUP # LR47FR works with your 7-8 foot surfboard, it really depends on the width of the board. With the Lockrack, this carrier can accommodate boards between 22-41 inches wide. If you have a board that is thinner than 22 inches, we do not carry shorter arms for the Lockrack carrier. If you have a thinner board, I recommend using a surfboard model that sandwiches the board with a tightening mechanism. For this...

Fully extended the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # LR47FR can handle up to a 25-9/16" wide paddle board. It'll be tight but with it being 1/16" wider than your Flying Fish Freedom, it'll fit.

  • Correct Lockrack Paddle Board Carrier for Crossbars Without T-Slots
The Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # LR47FR uses mounting hardware for a channel mount roof rack so you'll need the Lockrack # 339-LRSSUPSETX instead which is the same system but it comes with the channel mounting hardware as well as the clamping hardware which is what you'll use for your application. The Lockrack doesn't have to be in the exact middle of your crossbars so you definitely can offset them to try to make room for your bike rack as well. The base dimensions...

For a roof rack on the naked roof of your 2020 Acura MDX I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex system since it uses the aero-style bars that help cut down on wind noise and drag when compared to the other more traditional crossbar styles: 54" Vortex Aero Crossbars - Black # RRVA137B-2 or Silver # RRVA137S-2 2500 Series Legs - # RRRLKVA DK Fit Kit - # DK400 Then when it comes to a carrier I really like the Thule Compass # TH890000 because you can use it for either a kayak or a paddle board....

A better option would be a roof rack that you could then mount a board carrier to.
