Effortless Cranking: Comfort-Grip Handle

  • Solution for Needing Replacement Ratchet for Fulton T1802 Winch
Hey David, so the Fulton T1802 was discontinued quite a while ago. Unfortunately, this means that replacement parts for the winch are no longer around. The best solution is to replace it with a similar winch like the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch - 1,800 lbs # F142306 as there isn't a way to get just the part you need.

  • Mounting Base Dimensions for Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306
I went out to our warehouse to take some measurements of the mounting base on the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306. The plate itself measures 6 inches long and 4 inches wide. The mounting pattern features a few oblong holes that allows it to match various patterns. I have attached an image with their dimensions below. Please just let me know if you need any additional measurements and I will be happy to take them.

  • Recommended Replacement Winch for a Fulton T1801
I have a solution for you. The Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle, w/ 20 FT Strap - 1,800 lbs, # F142306, is the winch I recommend for your application. This winch uses a 2-way ratchet system and has a solid drum design which is much more corrosion resistant than the typical riveted drum and gear assemblies on other winches. This winch is a replacement for the T1801Z0301 that was originally the replacement for the T1801 Fulton winch.

  • Recommended Fulton Trailer Winch With Strap Included

  • Replacement for Fulton T1802 Hand Winch
The repair kit for a Fulton T1802 (which included the pawl) used to be available but was discontinued a number of years ago, and the pawl itself is not available separately. So really the best option we have is to replae the winch with a new one, the similar Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well if you'd like.

  • Mounting Hole Distance for Fulton Boat Winch
I went out to the warehouse to measure the distance between the mounting holes on the Fulton Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306 and found the distance between the center hole and left hole to be 3/8". The holes on the Fulton are elongated as you can see in the accompanying photo and are standard for mounting holes on winches.

  • Troubleshooting Fulton T1801 Slipping
Your Fulton T1801 may be slipping for a number of different reasons. Some of the most common come from use over time. If the teeth on the planetary gear or ratchet pawl start to wear down, or if the handle is stripped at the attachment point, you may experience slipping. If it is only slightly worn that would explain why it works fine without any weight but not with the weight of the boat. The spring may also need to be replaced. If you can identify the handle as the problem, the # F501109...

  • Recommended Hand Winch to Pull Up a 3,500 Pound Vehicle onto a Tow Dolly
There are a few options I recommend when using a winch to pull a 3,500 pound car onto a tow dolly. The Fulton single speed hand winch # F142306 has a 1,800 pound capacity. A winch can pull a rolling load that exceeds its rated capacity, but an incline, like the ramps on your tow dolly, adds some resistance. To find the amount of load that can be pulled up an incline, multiply the winch capacity by the factor shown in the chart (see the help article on hand winches I included). For example,...

  • Is There a Repair Kit Available for a Fulton Boat Trailer Winch T1801Z1650
I do have an option for you but the Fulton Boat Trailer Winch T1801Z1650 has been discontinued and there are no direct replacement parts available for this model. Therefore, you will have no other option but to replace the entire winch for which I recommend using the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch part # F142306 as it has the same 1,800 lb weight capacity and it comes with a 20' long strap.

  • Replacement for Shelby 0937 Winch Handle
Unfortunately, Shelby went out of business so there are no replacement parts. There is also no way to confirm that other replacement handles are a fit for Shelby winches. That being said, I would consider replacing your Shelby winch. I recommend the # F142306 Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch. It has carbon steel construction with a capacity of 1,800 lbs. This would also make it easier to find replacement parts in the future. I have attached a video review of the winch for your reference.

  • Fulton Trailer Winch Replacement for Boat Trailer with 1,500 lb Nylon Strap Winch
What you have is a very standard boat winch with a 1,500 lb capacity and a nylon strap. For a similar winch we have the Fulton part # F142306 which has an 1,800 lb capacity and would easily bolt to the same mounts as what you have. Since it has a slightly higher capacity it will be easier to crank.

  • Recommended Fulton 1500 lb Hand Winch for Boat Trailer
Since you currently have a 1500 lb capacity winch, I'd recommend staying with that capacity, as long as it's working well for you. Since you're using the winch to pull a boat up on a trailer, I'd recommend using a winch with a strap, rather than a steel cable which can corrode over time. You probably don't need a two speed winch or a brake winch because you're not hoisting anything up in the air. I'd go with the Fulton Single Speed 1500 lb capacity winch, part # F142201. This winch is...

  • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for 1996 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
Fulton no longer makes the T1602 winch, it's been replaced by the F2, part # FW16000101. If you're happy with the way your old one performed, it would be good replacement. If you wanted to go up to an 1800 lb capacity, you could use the Fulton # F142306 that you referenced. Choosing a winch with capacity to spare is never a bad idea. For more information about hand winches, take a look at the help article I've linked you to.

  • Can 1800 Lb Capacity Fulton Winch Pull 1500 lb UTV onto Trailer
Using some of the high school trig I swore I'd never need again, I calculated that your ramp has about a 40% or a 22° slope. Given the slope, the fact that it's a rolling load and the capacity of the winch, an 1800 lb winch like the Fulton # F142306 can pull 4700 lbs with a 30% slope or 3350 lbs with a 50% slope, so with a 40% slope, you're well within the capabilities of the winch you've chosen. I've provided a link to a demonstration video for a 1800 lb capacity Fulton winch and have...

  • Can Handle Be Moved to Opposite Side of Fulton 1.8K Trailer Winch F142306
In order to move the handle to the opposite side on the Fulton trailer winch # F142306 you would have to flip everything from the drum to all of the shafts upside down. It can be done though. To be clear though the handle is already on the right side of the winch. The straps pays out in the direction away from the paw/switch.

  • Will Dutton Lainson Winch DL14627 Be Easier to Turn than Fulton 1,800 Winch
Yes, since the Dutton Lainson # DL14627 has a higher ratio of 5.4:1 and also has a slightly longer winch handle than the Fulton # F142306 it would be easier to turn. It would be a noticeable difference.

We have a similar winch to the Fulton T1801 with the Dutton Lainson part # DL14627 that can be used with a wire rope. For a 25 foot wire rope that would work the part # FWC3250100 would work. The Fulton T1801 # F142306 only works with a strap.

  • Availability of Replacement Input Shaft for Fulton T1801 Trailer Winch
What you're needing is a replacement input shaft. I spoke with my Fulton representative, and found that they no longer offer a replacement input shaft for your T1801 winch. The snap ring swivel mount design has not changed to the best of my knowledge so the Fulton Round, Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack part # FTJ120W0301 should work just fine with your existing mount therefore no welding will be required. The tongue weight of your boat trailer would be well within range for the above 1,200 lb option so there will not be any concerns here either.
