Strong gusts or passing semis can push a trailer off course fast, but this system fights back. The Reese Pro Round Bar uses steel-on-steel friction between the spring bars and the L-brackets to stop sway before it builds. That rigid connection holds the trailer in line so you stay steady on highways and winding roads. The sway control is built right into the system—no extra bar to remove or attach every time you tow.
Uneven weight on your hitch can cause sagging, uneven tire wear, and poor steering response. This setup levels things out by transferring tongue weight evenly across all axles of your vehicle and trailer. Rated for 400 lbs – 800 lbs of tongue weight and up to 8,000 lbs gross towing weight, it provides balanced load distribution that keeps your rig level and handling predictable mile after mile.
Getting the right tension with a weight distribution hitch takes fine-tuning, but Reese makes it straightforward. The head tilt adjusts using stackable washers on the spacer rivet inside the hitch head. Add washers for more leverage or remove a few if you’ve overcorrected. Once dialed in, you’ll have even height front to back and stable steering under load.
Every component is made from high-strength steel with a durable powder coat finish for corrosion resistance. The kit includes the head assembly with pre-installed 2-5/16" hitch ball torqued to spec, round spring bars, deep-drop shank (8-1/2" total height adjustment), clamp-on frame brackets, lift handle, and all mounting hardware. It’s ready to go right out of the box—no drilling required on trailer frames up to 7" tall.
If your setup rides higher than most, the included deep-drop adjustable shank provides plenty of adjustment range to keep everything level. With sway control bracket positioning between 24-1/2" and 27-1/2" behind the coupler, this system gives you a stable, properly aligned connection that stays true even when road conditions get rough.

The price is right and the first pull was 10 fold better than without.
Short and sweet: the hitch does what it is supposed to. I have zero sagging between my truck and trailer. Sway is virtually non-existent.
The price was very reasonable and the install was super simple. I highly recommend this hitch and would definitely buy it again.
Hope you don't have a problem. The hitch i ordered showed up in a mangled box and I had to order missing parts again, it happens, no big deal. The assembly required torturing down a nut that would not tighten but since I had already received parts from the factory (not my fault) they told me to go buy something at my local hardware store as they would not be helping any more. I did and got the hitch finished but will not be doing business with these people again.
The product is working as expected and makes towing easier. I bought this product to tow a 27ft travel trailer and everything is well built and heavy duty. The install was ok with a tutorial I found on [online] by Reese .
My only issue is not with the product itself but with how it was shipped. The box was not heavy-duty enough to consider the weight of the product. The pieces are heavy and tore up the delivery box because of this I was missing a bolt and washer which was key to install. Although etrailer tried to fix the issue it was faster to go out and my local hardware store and buy the missing pieces.
I liked the fact that the hitch ball was pre installed. Unfortunately when I received the box one of the spring bars was missing and there was no hardware in the box. etrailer offered to send the parts that were missing, but I wouldn't have had them in time so I had to buy another WD hitch locally. Didn't like the fact I had to pay for return shipping when the order was shipped incomplete.
The hitch works well going down the road. I followed all the instructions to set up the hitch and I found the recommended tension to be off (as in my front suspension would rise rather than lower). I just had to go one step further down angle to get the tension I needed. I have to hitch my truck and then jack the tongue jack way up to the point the jack will barely lift in order to get the bars on, by hand. I feel using the bar lever tool to be much more sketchy than using the chain style tool. I had a chain style hitch before and felt it worked better. Maybe my expectations are too high for a $[XX] hitch though.
provided shank would not work with my '15 4wd F150. Needed holes in the 90 degree angle of shank. I have not pulled trailer yet but this new WD hitch appears to be superior to my 10yo pro series trunion.
Clip that was holding 1 of the bar up broke off after 1 trip. I was able to make a makeshift clip to replace it. Told etrailer I would be perfectly happy w it if they just give me a discount. But no they insist on sending a new head unit. Fine. Now the bolt wont come off, I have to make trips to Home depot to get tools. As of now even a power impact tool cannot remove the bolt, I'm not sure what to do. Very unhappy with Reese product. Very unhappy wiht etrailer solution. Will not be returning.

What can happen is that the bolts get over-tightened. When this happens you can first try a penetrating spray lubricant like PB Blaster onto the over-tightened nuts. You would spray on the lubricant and let it sit for an hour, then reapply and let it work some more. If this does not loosen the nuts then you can try heating the nuts with a torch to make them expand. Now, once you get the nuts off of the bolts, you will need to get replacement hardware from the manufacturer, I will be sending you their information via email.
Unfortunately, when I ordered this, I didn’t realize that it was a 2 5/8 ball. I have to change it to a 2 inch ball but very happy with the person on the phone. Just wish we had both understood we needed to look at the ball size.
Worked perfectly for my Travel Trailer. Instructions were good and the hitch works well and is easy to operate. Shipped and received in timely manner. etrailer website was easy to use and ensured I got the right equipment and video was helpful for installation. Recommend you use etrailer and Reese

Product works perfect, couldnt be happier with this purchase and customer service.
Hitch was installed by the RV dealer. I was pleased with how well it helped towing my trailer. It is easy to use. I learned it is easiest to release and install the bars when the trailer tongue is raised. I usually do not need to use the tool to move the bars into place.
Unfortunately someone stole the hitch shank while I was visiting a friend near Louisville, KY. I have a locking hitch pin but I seldom use it. I always(almost, except for this time) remove the shank and store it in a locked storage area in the RV. Luckily I found a used shank for $160 at a nearby RV dealer.
I would buy again.
I would like to know if etrailer sells replacement shanks.
I have not installed the hitch yet but I've checked and all parts are there and everything is in good shape. Unfortunately the shipping box was pretty beat up and re-taped. And UPS delivered it to the wrong address. A neighbor called several hours after delivery was "confirmed." I was able to retrieve it in one piece. In addition the first one I ordered UPS took back even before it was delivered because the shipping box was coming apart. It seems that Reese should do some work on their packaging. etrailer was very responsive to the first issue and shipped out a new hitch the next day!

working fine
Installation was straight-forward, good instructions were included. I recommend watching the videos on the Reese web site. Hookup is not difficult (my wife often does it by herself), it does what it needs to do, keeping the truck level. Much more affordable than some competitors.
Note: Some trial and error will be involved in getting it configured and adjusted properly. This will require removing and reinstalling bolts that require over 400 ft-lb of torque. You'll need some big tools, or you'll need some qualified help.
Delay in receipt was the fault of the carrier. Product received in excellent condition even though packaging was nearly destroyed.

Oh no! Glad everything did arrive and undamaged. Let me know how everything tows once you get it on and tow a load :)
Easy installation. Worked as it should. Torque wrench with 260# is needed.
I haven't used it yet. I think I'm missing a couple of washers but I'll make do. Thank you!

It was excellent. I travelled all the way across the country stopping at various state parks. Im currently selling the RV, but keeping the hitch
Great Product good place to buy.
No problem towing travel trailer with my 2019 Ford Ranger 4x4. Installation is straightforward, but 2 of the bolts have to be torqued to 270 foot pounds. My torque wrench went up that high, but my body didn't. My mechanic helped me out. Price was very competitive. I found a youtube video on how to install this very hitch which was very useful.
Just installed, night and day difference compared to no weight distribution. A very smooth install (watching your installation videos helped immensely). Can’t wait for the next trip to test is out on a longer distance. Thanks to all at etrailer!
Initially there was a problem with the item being received with parts missing. Contacted etrailer and was instructed to package up the item and return it with a return slip from them and was told a new order was submitted for replacement. I returned the item and two days later received replacement that was a complete item. Extremely satisfied with customer service and will utilize etrailer for any future items needed for my trailer/vehicle. Thank you

I'm glad we were able to turn this experience around for you Michael! Any trips planned to test out your new weight distribution hitch?
I can only rate this product based on the Reese brand, knowing it is going to work well. If I were to have to rate shipping, it would be one star. This box had two stops before destination and was destroyed. Not too happy that the paint is all scuffed and road rashes as well. should listen to everyone else having the exact issues with delivery
Made a big difference towing my 20ft travel trailer with a Chevy Colorado Z71. My fully loaded trailer tongue weight was coming in around 600lbs which put me right between the 400-800lbs that this hitch is rated for. Installation myself took about 3.5 hrs but was taking my time and following the instructions carefully. Hardest part was finding a torque wrench that could go up to 260lbs for the two largest bolts which I just rented from a local tool rental.
Love the hitch. It is quite challenging to install in my opinion. Took over 3 hours to install on a used trailer and having to torque some of the nuts up to 250 foot pounds in a tight space is tricky. The hitch does work great once installed and am quite happy with it.
It seems to work fine. I have nothing else to compare it to, but it does the job. Easy to assemble and set up. Towing a 7,000 camper trailer with a 1996 Ford Bronco. This distributed the load, but I also found that I needed a friction sway control to go with it. After installing the sway control it's all good.

Not a year yet but found the ball loose. Took it completely off and found two different sized holes for the shank as it is two plates welded together. The top hole measures 1.392 a bit big for a 1.25 shank. The bottom hole measures 1.251. The actual shank on the ball measures 1.238. The bottom hole is correctly sized, but the top is too big. I have a photo but dont see any way to attach it. Not really happy with the stepped hole as this should be a uniform one size hole and a relatively snug fit on the ball shank. I torqued it to 450 and will keep an eye on it.

ok. etrailer sent me the correct shank. I had to hitch height one hole so I can tail gate with out striking handle area on hitch. Fords bulky handle area may be the cause. My old hitch was a little longer.
