Can Reese Round Bar Weight Distribution System Attach to 8 inch Tall Trailer Frame

Updated 05/26/2025 | Published 05/18/2025

Question:

I have the Reese 49912 Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch. My trailer has 8 A frame and the brackets that came with the kit are not long enough to fit in the A frame. Do you have longer brackets for the 49912 that will fit an 8 A frame?

Hey Erwin, for your Reese round bar system part # RE94FR I have a solution but we don't have a bolt on frame bracket solution that would allow the brackets to fit the 8 inch tall frame. Instead you would need to drill holes in the trailer frame and run bolts through the brackets and the trailer frame so that the bracket attaches directly to the frame.

I'd prefer not to drill through the A-frame and risk possibly weaking the support it provides. Are there after-market companies that sell brackets for an 8" frame and could be used with the RE94FR?

@ErwinM That we are aware of there isn't bracket for tall of a frame. I know it sounds possibly risky to drill into the frame but there are several WD systems that use this method for install of the bracket and there's no issue. Reese sells bolt on brackets actually with the part # RP58305.

@JamesonC Will Part Number: C25RV work on the RE94FR? I know it's for the Curt TruTrack but it looks like it might fit.

@ErwinM It looks like it could but it's never been tested with the Reese system so we can't guarantee that it would work and it would void your warranty.
