Reese Pro Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2023 Micro Minnie 2108DS

Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 08/03/2025

Question:

Hi I am trying to determine whether to buy a RE34FR or a RE94FR for my rig. Currently I have a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 6200/620 max tow/tongue compacity. My trailer is a 2023 Micro Minnie 2108DS with a dry weight of 4291 lbs and a dry tongue weight of 436 lbs. It has a 2 5/16foot coupler and 5inch frame. In the future, my tow vehicle will be a 1/2 ton truck with at least 9-11,000 tow capacity. What would be the best WDH of these two should my tongue weight be in the 450-550 lbs range for my current and/or future vehicle for same camper? RE34FR or RE94FR

Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out!

The great thing about weight distribution systems (WDS) is that you choose them based on the loaded tongue weight of your trailer as opposed to the tow vehicle.

For your application you'll want to go with the 8K Reese Pro # RE94FR because the 6K # RE34FR will be a little more limited once you start loading your trailer up.

Once you upgrade your trailer, then that's when we'll want to get a different WDS. What intrigued you about the Reese Pro system?

Hey Bill, Did you decide to go with the Reese Pro 8K system for your setup? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as your experience could help others with similar towing needs.

Hi Jon, Much earlier I had realized that two of your co-worker suggested the 6,000# rig on my notes but you had suggested the 8,000# rig. Their thoughts were it would be too stiff a ride using a #8,000 rig on a 6,200 max tow capacity SUV. I decided to try the go with the #6,000 rig and upgrade the bars to make it an 8,000# rig after I upgrade my tow vehicle to a truck with higher tow capacity than my current SUV. It is my understanding that this Reese WDH head is the same in both 6,000# and 8,00# rigs models. Bill
