Features to know about

Keeps You in Control When the Wind Picks Up: Electronic Sway Detection and Braking

Strong crosswinds or a passing semi can start your trailer rocking before you even feel it at the wheel. The Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control detects that side-to-side movement and automatically applies the trailer’s electric brakes to bring it back in line. It reacts in real time during emergency maneuvers, poor road conditions, or heavy wind so you stay steady and confident while towing.

Simple Plug-and-Play Setup: Mount, Plug In, and Go

Getting started doesn’t require rewiring or extra modules. Just mount the 11" long x 3-1/2" wide x 3-7/8" deep module level on the trailer frame, connect its 7-foot cord to your tow vehicle’s 7-way, and plug your trailer’s 7-way into the module. The built-in LED shows when the system is active and ready, so you know you’re protected before you hit the road.

Works Seamlessly With Your Setup: For 1 to 4 Axles With Electric Brakes

The True Course is designed for trailers with 1 to 4 axles (2 to 8 brake assemblies) and is compatible with electric trailer brakes only. It functions independently of your brake controller, so it can be used with factory or aftermarket controllers and even alongside a weight distribution hitch if you already have one installed.

Stay Connected and Informed: Bluetooth Integration With OneControl App

You can pair the True Course with the OneControl app to monitor sway events and system status from your phone. The app provides visual and audible alerts, and integrates with other OneControl products like the Echo brake controller (sold separately), so you can manage everything in one place.

Built for Reliable Towing Season After Season: CURT Quality and Support

This solid-state system is self-contained and sealed for outdoor use, built by CURT for safe, dependable towing performance. It includes a 1-year limited warranty for peace of mind every time you tow.

One year later it is still working great and I am glad I purchased it.

Awesome product

by:

Super easy to install and great customer service.

by:

Install was easy. A little hard to line up with the top since the top has a slight curve. Plugged into the truck and the green light comes on, so I guess it is working. Won't find out until I actually tow the trailer to see how it works. My one question would be why the green light stays on and blinks after I unplug the 7 pin connector from my truck. It did go off after I disconnected the battery from the RV.

I towed a loaded 5000 pound snowmobile trailer Normally a tractor trailer passing me would just move me all over the road. My Suburban and trailer instead stayed right on course. Would recommend this product. Also it was easy to install.

That definitely sounds like a peace of mind upgrade! I'm not too familiar with snowmobiles but they always look like a blast to drive. How long have you have been sledding for?

@GwendolynY We have been snowmobiling (sledding) for twenty years. It is a great experience out in the wilderness on a sled. We have gone as far west as Jackson Hole and as far north as 100 miles north of Montreal,Canada

This is the third True Course unit I have purchased in the last few days. I have also purchased a Curt 7 pin tester. According to it, all circuits are working so the mystery remain unsolved as to why none of the three units had a working "Status" light. I have escalated directly to Curt/Lippert and hope to get resolved, but this may be some common issue among this particular product...

I'm sorry to hear you're having so many issues with the Curt True Course. I have a few questions to help determine what the issue may be. When you're getting everything set up is the True Course connecting to your app like it should? Have you driven around the block to see if after driving and braking the unit will shows any sort of a status light? I see you're also using the Curt Echo, when you have everything plugged in, have you used the manual override thru the app to send a signal to the unit? If there is no status light on the unit that usually means its in a sleep mode and needs a signal to wake up. Let me know what you find out when you can, or let me know what Curt tells you.

by:

I received my sway control and have it installed on my travel trailer but have not had a chance to go camping yet. I talked to Josh at Etrailer before I ordered. He was very helpful and was the reason for my decision! If it works as well as advertised, I will be very satisfied with my order!

by:

Unit did not work, had to contact Curt to get a new unit shipped to me.

by:

Working great

by:

I haven't been able to determine if I should connect true course first or the Bluetooth brake controller first. I'm also not sure if the device is actually working. When I turn on the app, the controller says connected, but does it stay connected when i close the app?

Thank you for your review, Nicholas! It shouldn't matter which device is connected first. When you say you're closing the app, are you fully closing or just minimizing the app? Also, have you been noticing any sway issues when your towing and or does it feel like your trailer/camper is pushing your tow vehicle when you are applying the brakes? I look forward to hearing back from you!

  • Weight Distribution and Sway Control Recommendation for a 2024 Ember Overland 171FB Travel Trailer
Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out! The integrated sway control you have on your 2021 Ford F-150 is basically going to react the same way the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV does; by activating your trailer brakes to help mitigate trailer sway. It can work, but what I recommend doing is disabling that feature and using the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66083 and the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 because the cam sway control...

  • Which Wireless Trailer Brake Controller Is Best
Hey Brandon, I would strongly recommend sticking with the Tekonsha RF brake controller part # TK94FR. We know this works really well and it sounds like it worked well for you too. The Curt Echo is not reliable enough for me to really ever recommend it for anyone. The Autowbrake part # 3430001 is a really solid option too but the overall feedback we've gotten is that the RF is best overall. The Curt Truu Course part # C94VV is perfectly compatible with all of the mentioned controllers.

  • Can 2024 Toyota Highlander Limited Use Weight Distribution Hitch
Hi Earle; in general, a weight distribution hitch is a no go for unibody vehicles. However, that is not an absolute. I don't see anything specifically calling out weight distribution in the owner's manual so it is possible if the manufacturer says it is ok. I would reach out to a local dealer to see what they have to say about it. Assuming it is allowed, you will need a hitch that is compatible with weight distribution which would be the Curt # C45CR. For the weight distribution hitch...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2024 Subaru Ascent Towing 5,000 lb Trailer
Hey Paul! Thank you for providing that information. Since choosing a weight distribution hitch (WDH) is based on tongue weight the most important thing is your 490 lb measurement. Based on that I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37060ET. Equal-i-zer makes a great system and is widely considered to be the best. Unlike other companies, weight distribution is their main focus so you get a high quality product that works incredibly well with...

  • How Does Curt True Course Plug Into Vehicle 7-Way
Hey Val, great question! The 7-way on your trailer plugs into the 7-way connector on the Curt True Course # C94VV. Then the 7-way wire that comes off of the True Course will plug into the 7-way connector on your 2025 Tucson. Everything passes through the sway control module so you only need the one connector on your vehicle. What kind of trailer are you towing?

  • How to Mount the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control System
Hey Pamela, thanks for the picture and congrats on your new trailer. The Curt True Course item # C94VV has inertia sensors in it. You'll want to bolt it to the side of your coupler beneath that metal storage box for it to function correctly. Being mounted under the box would be a great place to put it. I have attached a picture below that will show you how to get it set up. If you have any additionally questions, go ahead and throw them into the comment box below and I'll be happy to...

  • Can Curt True Course be Used at Same Time As Autowbrake
Hey Jim, yes the Curt True Course # C94VV and the Autowbrake part # 3430001 can be used at the same time. The trick will be running the brake output circuit of your trailer 7-way to the same junction box terminal as what the Autowbrake runs to. This will allow the Autowbrake and the True Course to put 12 volts on the circuit that then runs to the trailer's brakes. For the junction box (if you don't have one already) you would need the part # 3430001-JBK as well.

Hey Tom, congratulations on the new vehicle and camper! This can get pretty confusing so I'll try to clear things up for you here. What you're hearing about a unibody is typically correct. Most of the time you do not want to use a weight distribution hitch, but it is not an absolute. The bigger issue here is that factory hitch. It is not rated for a WDH so we can go ahead and rule that out as an option. That 2,675 lbs I believe is the dry weight for your A214, so you're going to be even...

Hi Isabelle! You don't have to have a sway bar/sway control unless you think you need it. • Can You Use The Curt Echo And The Curt True Course At The Same Time?
Hello Bill, thanks for reaching out. It doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with your Curt Echo brake controller. It does sound like your brakes might need to be adjusted though. If the highest setting is not locking up the brakes, you can turn the adjuster screw to up the braking power. Ideally the brakes should be adjusted so that you can turn the wheel by hand, but it does not turn freely. As far as using the Echo with the True Course, they will both work simultaneously. The...

However, aftermarket hitches are not compatible with a weight distribution hitch so you won't be able to use one. The first thing you need to do is reach out to inTech and see if a WDH can be used on their trailers. Some manufacturers allow it, some do not, it really depends on the overall design of the trailer. • Does The Curt True Course Allow The User To Adjust Its Sensitivity?
I just checked with my contact at Curt. The Curt True Course # C94VV does not have a provision for the user to adjust its sensitivity. The True Course is more for emergency maneuvers, high winds, semi trucks passing and so on. It is not necessarily designed for minor sway situations that are typically handled by a weight distribution system. The True Course has a built-in motion sensor, so it does not activate until the sensor is moved enough to do so.

  • Does GMC Sierra 2500 Need Electric or Friction Sway Control
Hey Ed, either will offer benefits but an electric sway control unit like the Curt True Course part # C94VV is going to provide the best sway control for basically any truck and trailer since it proactively works to detect the slightest bit of sway and stop it before you notice it.
