Question:

Will the Curt True Course work with Autobrake controller?

Hey Jim, yes the Curt True Course # C94VV and the Autowbrake part # 3430001 can be used at the same time. The trick will be running the brake output circuit of your trailer 7-way to the same junction box terminal as what the Autowbrake runs to. This will allow the Autowbrake and the True Course to put 12 volts on the circuit that then runs to the trailer's brakes.

For the junction box (if you don't have one already) you would need the part # 3430001-JBK as well.

Hello: Thank you for fielding questions. I have a CURT Echo brake controll which was simple to set up and seems to work well. The nice folks at CURT told me that you would never operate it at 100% because it could lock up the brakes. However, 100% over 25mph does not lock up the brakes. Sesensitivity is set at "5", but since it stopes perfectly, I am not sure that this unit could ever lock up the brakes on a 3000 pound trailer on any sensitivity setting that might initiate rapid brake deployment. 1) Question: Is there likely something off about this particular Echo braking umit that might keep it from allowing me to to force it into 100% braking? 2) Question: I have the CURT Echo brake controller, and I want to use the CURT anti-Sway True Course unit, but the folks at CURT said that the Echo will interfere with the True Course, and therefore these two units cannot be used together. Does this mean that the True Course is also the main brake controller, too? It seems illogical that Curt would be forcing consumers to use different compnies' brake controllers The company seems to mean well but sending mixed signals about their prdoducts' compadibilities. Do you have any thoughts/answers? Thank you, Kind regards Bill .

@Bill Usually if a brake controller isn't locking brakes up at the max brake setting the issue is not the brake controller but is instead an issue with the wiring of the brake output circuit on the trailer or there is a mechanical issue with the assemblies like they are out of adjustment or grease is on the pads from a blown seal. Typically you want at least 10 gauge wire for the output circuit which we offer with the part # 10-1-1. Did they specify how the two would interfere with each other? I get they are both styles that plug into a 7-way but aside from that there's no reason this wouldn't work with a Curt brake controller.

@Jameson: Thank you for the reply. The trailer is new, and the wiring is an appropriate "10". A "seal leaking" would seem unlikely, and I would expect that to be more asymetric. There is no unequal braking pull, here. Nevertheless, it is certainly worth checking. The truck 7-pin is also new; so, that connection is not suspect. The Curt Echo does actuate the brakes and is adjustable. That makes the power to the trailer brakes and the 7-pin pon wiring likely okay. Q).However, do you think that the power from the tow vehicle could be sub-par and not able to completely actuate the trailer brakes? Q: If the power was inadequate, don't you think that the brakes would not actuate at all? The CURT Echo indicates, via the app, that the braking is 100%, even though it is not. The lower percentages also feel like correct braking.... just not able to force a lockup. It would seem that the CURT Echo is behaving correctly. It is a quandary. On the other "interference" issue, as told by the representative from the manufacturing company, the Echo and True Course could have real issues together. Yet, their app illustrations seem to show those two units, and their remote tire pressure unit in the same app, at once. Since the Echo and the True Course would only possibly interfere when using set-up in the app, you would think that setting them up separately on the app would solve any issues. The manufacturer's representative also seemed to indicate that the True Course would also act as the main brake controller, but it is not apparently true. Your ideas are welcomed. Thank you. Kind regards, Bill

@Bill are the brakes manual adjust or self adjusting? have you done any initial brake adjustments or burnished the brakes at all?
