Does Lippert True Course Sway Control Work with GM OEM Sway Control

Updated 08/26/2025 | Published 08/14/2025

Question:

I would like to know if the Lippert true course sway control system for trailers is compatible with the latest Chevy OEM trailer sway control system built into the Chevy pickups. I found one place that says the true course always differs to the tow vehicle but another place they say no list of tested vehicles can be provided.

Hey Marion, the Curt True Course part # C94VV and the sway control system built into the new GM truck essentially do the same thing so you really wouldn't need to run both at the same time. The two will work independently of each other and won't interfere but you just might get less subtle braking action when sway is noticed. Is the GM anti-sway not keeping up?

It kind of seems like they are fighting each other a bit but I’m not sure. Can’t turn pickup off. Sounds like I could the Lippert but not exactly sure as new to this trailer. Have not driven in extreme situation yet a don’t want to get in a situation that demonstrates they are incompatible.

@Marion What makes you think they are fighting each other? Can you unplug the True Course and just run the 7-way to your vehicle directly?

@JamesonC trailer constantly wiggled for 300 mile drive home. No wind. 55-65 mph road. Minimal traffic. If I ever can get connected to Lippert OneControl I might be able to turn off. Have not figured that out yet.

@Marion Do you have a smart phone? If so, the OneControl app is available as an app for Android and iPhone.
