Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. They do a good job at supporting the the rear end of my F250 for towing my travel trailer. More affordable and simpler to install than air bags. I also installed the EZ lift springs. They work great together.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Excellent product. Delivered on time. Very easy install. My '16 F250 squatted slightly with my camper on, sunk 2" at the factory jounce bumpers, and slightly swayed on curves. Problem solved. You may only need to slightly lift the truck by putting a car jack under the hitch, as I did. I only needed to raise mine 3-4" and no need to remove wheels. Also, it is easy to reattach the factory bumpers to a harmless location under the frame. So, if you sell your truck in the future you can easily find and reinstall the originals....and keep the Sumos for your next truck....if they fit.

Installation took about half an hour. The fifth wheel with a gvw of 15000# used to sink the truck box significantly. After installing the Sumo Springs there is a minimal sinking of the truck. I highly recommend!

Ford F-250 Super Duty

Fast customer service. I easily install them on the rear of my two thousand five F-250 4x4 with factory overload springs. Since installing it is a much smoother ride when unloaded and now only squats about 1 1/2 inches when pulling 7500+ pound camper. The hardest part about installing these was removing the factory bump stops.

2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This is probably the best thing I could have done for my truck. The install was easy. Without these, the truck would drop 3 1/2 inches in the back with the RV on. Now only one inch. The truck is a 2015 F-250.

After a year of use, Im very happy with the Sumo springs. Much better ride and nobody flashes their hi beams at me anymore because the truck rides nearly level even with the weight of the 5th wheel on.

Instructions were adequate. installer has to contribute to the outcome with bolt cleaning, match marking axle saddle and finding out "u" bolt torque value. I think the mount should be radiused where the "u" bolt contacts it as opposed to the square edge. Was unnecessary to jack up truck to get clearance to screw on spring, I put a wood between frame and leaf and raised the box 1/2" with a wedge. I got the ride height I was looking for, the blue springs are very close to offsetting trailer tounge weight allowing for a bit of takeup with my Andersen hitch. Barely noticeable change in unloaded rear end stiffness.

Couldn’t have been a simpler install! Total time was less than 15 minutes which included digging the floor jack out, blocking the tires and cleanup. Makes a heck of a difference in keeping the nose of the truck up when towing trailer or hauling 16 golf cart batteries.

Still awesome. A year later, have hauled up to 16 golf cart batteries with no issues due to the weight. A real help in getting the work done without the fear of bottoming out.

We pull an off-road teardrop camper with our 2013 Toyota Tacoma and were looking for a little help with the rear end sag when we have that hitched plus putting some weight in the back of the truck (firewood, water, etc). Our Tacoma is lifted (2.5") but the lift kept the stock springs with an added Deaver leaf to help with the notoriously soft Toyota springs. However, with the shell and ~300 pounds of weight in the back, it still sagged, especially with another 250 lbs of tongue weight from the trailer. The Sumos have eliminated that sag, even with bigger loads in the bed, eliminated body roll (also notoriously bad with Tacomas) and didn't destroy the ride for day to day driving. There might be a slight bit more stiffness when hitting speed bumps, but definitely not bad at all. If anything, I would say it IMPROVED the ride and handling. The springs themselves were simple to install, less than half an hour start to finish. Some reviews have said they were bumping the frame after installing but we had about 1/2" gap on both sides. The only "specialty" tool would be a torque wrench capable of 90 lbs to get it to spec. We considered Firestone air bags but after talking with the reps at e-trailer, we decided on these and couldn't be happier. Reasonably priced (half the price of air bags), no maintenance, great customer service...can't argue with anything at all.

One year and working better than I imagined it would. Carrying loads in my Tacoma is no longer an exercise in fear and my shocks are way happier happier with a little help!

We love our Sumos. They are easy to install and they helped with our sway and jouncing. Unfortunately, we just added a new rear suspension package which lifted the rear about 2 inches. Now the Sumos don’t touch the axle and won’t provide much sway damping. They act now more like a very fancy jounce bumper. Still good to know that the rear Sumos will give us extra protection should we hit a wicked pothole. Front sumos still snug against the axle and helping with sway and crosswinds

2018 silverado z71 crew cab 6'6 bed Replaced air bags with 1000# sumo springs. Do a lot of offroading and bags limited travel. With these I can use my suspension and stay level on the trip with all my gear. Nicer ride unloaded and even sweeter when loaded. Easy 40 min install if you're use to working on your own stuff. A definite upgrade.

Not driven under load, but think it is the answer. I may have to remove the spacer. I had to have them installed, not as easy /smooth as their video portrays. The instructions do not advise as what it suppose to look like (for F350 SRW) . IE: barely touching the axel? Above the axle? The 2800 load was recommended, I will follow up after my RV trip. I want it to set level, but not ride stiff W/O a load.

You are going to want at least 1 inch of space between the bottom of the spring and the axle otherwise it will create a rough ride. I do recommend removing the spacer.

I found these springs while researching a towing question. I was more than impressed with portrayal of part, adequate info and glowing reviews. I was further delighted by speed of arrival and impressed with branding of the packaging. Top notch. Front and back installed in about an hour. Instructions are clear. I did find it easier to pre-assemble the stop to the bracket in order to determine if I was going to use the spacer or not. (I did). Note on this RV chassis, the bracket mount stud had to also clear an additional harness bracket. There was adequate threads for locknut

I would have give it a 5star but the bolts are 1/4” I think it should be at least minimum of 3/8” or1/2” bolts to hold the sumo springs. I like them toed the camper handles very well. Wishi got these a long time ago worth getting. With out camper can tell that it’s there but rides ok. I wanted the same ride it not quite. I ask what the how high they are said 5” with bracket but it’s actually 6” with bracket see picture. I would recommend getting the sumo springs ssr-610-47.

took about 45 mins to a hour to install mostly because of bolt up other wise probably 30 min install if bolt up was not in such a tight location. I did leave out the spacers which left me with about a 1 inch gap where as I had about 3 before install with OEM bump stops. I have not loaded a trailer on my truck yet but I did load around a 1000lb bail of hay right after install into the bed and you could not really see a drop in the back. Moment of truth will be when I load my travel travel which is the main reason I bought these due to sag. 2014 Ram 1500 4x4

The installation was a bit slower as this was a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 and the bump stop did not have the bolt in the hollow opening. Instead, the bump stop and cup came off by removing a nut between the bracket and frame. Access to that bolt is more difficult but doable with an open end wrench. Then use the provided spacer and in my case one washer, and the provided nut and bolt to secure the spacer. The Sumo spring then simply screws on. Both fit very well leaving a gap between the spring and Axle. This installation was on a quadrasteer Denali. Very pleased with etrailer's written instructions (although a video for this vintage truck would have been great) and their delivery time.
