Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Great hitch receiver, fairly simple install. Definitely need two people. I watched the install video before starting and that was really helpful

2018 Ford Escape

This is a very high-quality product. I’m very glad I bought it. I had it installed this morning and everything went smoothly.
My new bike rack fit perfectly with it. I would highly recommend using this company as they were very communicative with me during my selection of the product and shipping etc. they truly have wonderful customer service.

by:

Very happy with my order. It took a bit of know-how to install, but the instructions were plenty clear. Works great.

by:

It was the wrong hitch kit. Didn’t fit my vehicle. I didn’t make an effort to have it replaced.

by:

Great product, install was a challenge for me being alone because of the weight and laying under the car. Instructions were great and the quantity of the hitch and fasteners was excellent. e
trailer has been my go to for hitches, I've three and if I need another one I'll buy it here.

by:

This hitch is great. It's constructed well and appears to made of heavy duty steel. Also it was easy enough with the kit supplied for my wife and I to install it on our vehicle. And did I mention it was priced reasonable.

by:

Great product, way cheaper price than the garages will charge you for same product, will always buy from etrailer

by:

Well made. Heavy duty. Looked up the installation video and it was clear and easy to follow. Haven't installed yet. Planning to soon.

by:
2016 Ford Escape

Had it for a year now, I love it, I use it all the time for attaching my MTB rack to my 2019 ford escape.

by:
2017 Ford Escape

You guys have a quality product! Instructions are easy to understand and my daughter and I installed it in a couple of hours. I made a couple of mistakes which made it longer. If I need anything else I will definitely use your company. Thank you.

by:

The hitch was a perfect fit and looks totally factory. Works fine.

by:

I did by myself which wasn't easy. I recommend 2 people.

by:
2017 Ford Escape

Haven’t installed yet but looks straight forward. My only complaint so far is I had to touch up spots on the hitch with paint as it poked through the box in 3 places. Not your fault it happened in shipping I’m sure. But I would suggest putting extra cardboard in the places that have potential to poke through the box.

by:

Excellent product, promptly shipped. Clear and concise installation instructions. Still working well after a year of service.

by:

Works great on my 2019 Ford Escape. Install was easy, but a car lift is a must.

by:
2018 Ford Escape

Although the instructions were a bit fuzzy, the receiver fit very well, seems to be very beefy, and the installation went okay, although it did take over 2 hours.

by:

Hitch is exactly as advertised. Installation was smooth. Nice product.

by:

I purchased the Class III hitch and harness for my 2017 Ford Escape. First thing I noticed was the quality of the product. I love supporting American businesses that take pride in their product. I watched the online installation videos that were very helpful. I installed the hitch and harness without issue. You will need an extra set of hands though, installation is a bit awkward for one person.

by:

Works great . Easy to install instructions simple to Reed.

by:
2013 Ford Escape

It's a nice trailer hitch.Decent price. It installs pretty easy.I installed it on my 2013 Ford escape.A couple suggestions though, have a buddy help lift it into place and just remove the muffler, after you remove the exhaust hangers it's just two more bolts to slide the exhaust pipe out then you have all the room you need.

by:

did get the receiver on date that i was told.
box had holes in it that were the size of a softball , not the fault of etrailer. little paint missing.
i was happy they put the wiring in bigger box, so it did not fall out.
i think it was my 3 hitch off them.
one thing i figured out, put hitch on escape ,put the front in first and rolled it up in.
40-45 mins done, once i thought to roll it in.
wiring little bit longer, but all done.

by:

Kate was excellent through the whole process and straightening out my order and it came a day early. I couldn’t be more happier. Thank you.
All ready for Saturday’s install.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring for Towing Trailer With 2017 Ford Escape Titanium
There won't be an issue installing a hitch and wiring on your 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. As long as the trailer does not exceed the capacity of the hitch or your vehicle you will be fine. For a hitch I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866. This hitch features a matte black powder coat finish which provides more of an OEM look. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs. For the most reliable wiring harness, I recommend the T-One...

  • Will the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium
Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98866 is a fit for a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. It offers a bolt-on fit without any drilling and provides a 2" opening which is great for towing or hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. It also has a hidden design so all that you'll see is the receiver which makes for the best overall appearance.

  • Hitch e98886 Not Wide Enough For 2014 Ford Escape
Thank you for your purchase of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 for your 2014 Ford Escape. The issue you are seeing with the hitch not appearing wide enough is called "flexing" and can be an unfortunate byproduct of the what happens during the shipping process. What happens is the mounting brackets get bent inward a bit during shipping, and while it doesn't affect the integrity of the hitch, it can make it seem like the hitch doesn't fit. So you will need to bend the brackets...

  • Trailer Hitch, Wiring and Ball Mount Recommendation for 2019 Ford Escape
We have everything you'll need to tow your pop up with your 2019 Ford Escape. You need a hitch like the Class III # e98866 which is a confirmed fit for your vehicle, has plenty of towing capacity, and is mostly hidden as well. You will need trailer wiring as well to activate the blinkers, turn signals, and running lights of your vehicle as well which we offer that as # 118802. I attached install videos for both of these on similar Ford Escapes. Since you wanted to do some towing you might...

The 3 trailer hitches with the most hidden receivers for your 2019 Ford Escape are the Curt # C13186, the Draw-Tite # 75782, and the etrailer.com # e98866. Since they all have the same profile it really boils down to what style suits you best. If you plan on towing then I recommend the Draw-Tite because it has an integrated wiring mounting bracket that really gives you a clean looking installation. The trailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required. It has a matte black powder coat finish which is over a protective base coat that offers a superior rust resistance. It is not a requirement to have your 2018 Ford Escape elevated in order to install the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866. It can help but it is certainly not required; most people do not elevate their vehicles during the installation of a hitch. I have added a link to a video install of this hitch on a 2018 Escape, as well as the directions, which should also be helpful. Just adding a Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866, Wiring # 118715 and a Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 will not automatically allow you to tow a 3,500lb trailer with your 2017 Ford Escape. In comparing a Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 for a 2017 Ford Escape with one that fits a 2008 Ford Escape # e56AR the mounting points are very different. For this reason you will not be able to bolt on the hitch from your 2017 to the 2008. Currently I do not see a hidden hitch available for your 2008 Escape. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118551 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This is the common connector used on smaller trailers and can also be used with Auxiliary Lights # C53201.
