Light changes how your ProMaster feels inside. Without it, the middle section stays dark and harder to use. This fixed side panel window replaces that solid section with glass, so you get more daylight and a clear view outside.
This window replaces the solid metal panel in the passenger-side middle position of your Ram ProMaster 159-inch standard or extended wheelbase van. Instead of a blank section along the center of the cargo area, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without introducing vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the side of the van.
When you drive over bumps or uneven pavement, the body of your van moves slightly. The glass in this panel moves with the surrounding metal, which helps reduce stress at the edges and lowers the chance of cracking. To handle that movement, this window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT and SAE standards for road use.
The middle side panel sits at eye level from outside and creates a clear sightline into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the middle side panel is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW74ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the body panel and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the wall cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at our Van Windows Direct middle side panel window on the passenger side. Folks, this is for a 2014 through 2026, our current year, ProMaster with 159 inch standard or extended wheel base. And I'll throw an image up of basically where this would go on that van. So if you are converting a cargo van into a camper, maybe a mobile workspace, or just something you want to spend more time inside of while you're outdoors, the biggest difference you can do is add a natural light, right So a lot of these vans came with just solid metal walls, as you probably already know. And if you add a window or two, that's going to let in a lot of natural light, it's going to give you more visible feeling, which will make that inside feel larger, right So it's the same concept as mirrors in a house, really, and windows.
They open up stuff, right So this is a fixed window. So there's no slides, there's no pop-ups or anything like that as far as venting air in or out. But that's not something you need in this particular instance anyways, right And this is going to do a great job of keeping out glare. So if I tilt it down, you can see the reflection of my studio lights. So that's what it's going to be doing with the sun.
The sun's going to reflect back off. This tint will actually block about 83% of UV rays, and that's going to help keep the inside cool. It's also going to help reduce the sun exposure. Now this is also a tempered safety glass, so obviously it meets all DOT and SAE standards. It has been formed to follow the stamping of that ProMaster.
Now, if you're going to tackle the install yourself, obviously you're going to be cutting through the metal panel on the van. You're going to need to clean that up. So you're going to need some sandpaper. You're going to need some other stuff as well. I'll put some different items here on the screen.
This would probably be considered a large window. So you want to use that top left urethane for the large windows. That way you get two tubes of that urethane. There's primer, there's caulk gun, securing tape, there's even insulation foam tape. We sell applicators, all kinds of stuff sold separately. That being said, you don't want to tackle this, like, heck no, Steven. I'm not cutting the side of my van. You crazy No problem. I have all the confidence you probably could do it yourself, honestly, if you just took your time. But I get it. Sometimes we don't want to do stuff that's maybe out of our wheelhouse, right So scroll down. There should be an info locator link below on the page. Click on that link. Based on your zip code, we can help pair you up and find local installers that we're affiliated with in your area. And you can do the install there. Now this is the reverse side. So if you we inchesre inside the van looking out, this is what the glass would look like. Again, it's reflecting light back inside. You can still see me through but it does a great job of not letting too much light through and inside. And as you can see, I'm handling this pretty easily. They're not really heavy. Again, they're tempered glass. So obviously be careful. But also you don't have to be afraid of it either. Because it is safety glass, if it we inchesre to shatter, God forbid, it would spread into little bit of pieces instead of sharp, jagged, dangerous things like that. So rest assured you'll be fine.
