Light changes how your Sprinter feels inside. Without it, the rear quarter side panel section stays dark and harder to use. This fixed side panel window replaces that solid section with glass, so you get more daylight and a clear view outside.
This window replaces the solid metal panel in the rear quarter position on the driver side of your 2007-2009 Dodge Sprinter, 2007-2021 Freightliner Sprinter, or 2010-2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a 144-inch wheelbase. Instead of a blank section along the rear portion of the cargo area, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without introducing vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the side of the van.
When you drive over bumps or uneven pavement, the body of the van moves slightly. The glass in this panel moves with the surrounding metal, which helps reduce stress at the edges and lowers the chance of cracking. To handle that movement, this window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT and SAE standards for road use.
The rear quarter side panel window sits at eye level from outside and creates a direct sightline into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the rear quarter side panel is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the body panel and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the wall cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi, everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at this large Van Windows Direct Rear-Quarter Side Panel for the driver's side of a 2007 to 2009 Dodge Sprinter with the 144 inch wheel base, a 2007 to 2021 Freightliner Sprinter with 144 inch wheel base, or a 2010 through 2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a 144 inch wheel base. Again, folks, this is the quarter, rear-quarter panel, for the driver's side. So folks, I apologize, you're not gonna be able to see me much on this video, because the glass is gonna be blocking me. You get the picture, right So obviously, you can see the tint, very nice, large, painted glass. This is an OE style fit.
So once you cut out the metal portion where it is kinda pressed into that rear-quarter panel, you would then put this in place using a automotive-style urethane that you would purchase separately. If you don't already have some, either here or locally, we got you covered either way. Now, if you're gonna be using this to turn that sprinter into a camper, a venture van, or a mobile workspace, this solid rear panel is gonna make the inside feel. Though the solid panel you have now makes it feel dark and closed off, with this glass, you can now see through both ways. About the same tint as like a pair of shades, It's a 17% tint, it's gonna block about 83% of all UV rays, so it's gonna keep it cool inside, not let too much heat in, but allow you to have the outside look from the inside.
So it's gonna open up that space. Just like mirrors, windows and mirrors make everything look a lot bigger, right So it's gonna open up that space inside the van. And this is a fixed window, so you're not gonna be rolling it down or anything like that, it just gives you the visibility inside. I mentioned the urethane sold separately, we got you covered on that. This is a tempered safety glass that meets all DOT and SAE standards.
And it's shaped to follow the contours of those vans. So you can see it has a slight curve to it. That is going to be what follows the contour of that van line, the metal back there. And then, again, that urethane is not only going to give it a weathertight seal, but it's actually what bonds it to the metal. And on the inside, it literally basically looks the same as the outside, except if you're looking out, so the tint's a little bit different.
People from the outside looking in aren't gonna be able to see as much as you looking outside will be able to. Obviously, if you don't wanna tackle the install yourself, we got you covered. There's an install locator link below, just scroll down on the page, so you find it. Should be right below the photos and videos normally. And based on your zip code, when you click that link, we can help pair you up with trusted etrailer location, places around the nation. That's gonna wrap up our time together, folks. I'm Steven, thanks so much for watching, have great day.
