Light changes how your Sprinter feels inside. Without it, the passenger-side sliding door section stays dark and harder to use. This fixed side panel window replaces that solid section with glass, so you get more daylight and a clear view outside.
This window replaces the solid panel in the passenger-side sliding door of your 2007-2009 Dodge Sprinter, 2007-2021 Freightliner Sprinter, or 2010-2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, any wheelbase. Instead of a blank section along the side of the van, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without introducing vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the side of the van.
When you drive over bumps or uneven pavement, the body of the van moves slightly. The glass in this panel moves with the surrounding metal, which helps reduce stress at the edges and lowers the chance of cracking. To handle that movement, this window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT and SAE standards for road use.
The sliding door window sits at eye level from outside and creates a direct sightline into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the sliding door is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door frame. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW74ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the door and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the door cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Van Windows Direct Fixed Windows for the Driver's Side Forward Panel Sliding Door or the Passenger Side Forward Panel Sliding Door. And, folks, this is a custom fit. This, of course, is the driver's side one that I have out. We do carry the passenger side.
It's literally the same thing, just a mirror image more or less. Obviously the curve's gonna be mirrored as well. So I just want to do one video for both of them. These fit a 2007 through '09 Dodge Sprinter, any wheelbase, an '07 through 2021 Freightliner Sprinter any wheelbase, and a 2010 through current year Mercedes-Benz Sprinter any wheelbase. I went ahead and put both item numbers on the screen for you, the driver's side VW64VR.
Or if you're looking for the passenger side, it's item number VW56VR. Make sure you're on the right page for the product you're wanting. So if you're starting with a cargo van, you'd know that solid section behind the driver can make the inside feel dark, closed off, or behind the passenger side. Replacing it with a nice piece of glass does a lot of things. It's gonna let light in.
It's gonna make the inside feel bigger. You're gonna be able to see outside. You're gonna feel like you're in a bigger space. And it's just gonna give you a more good feeling, if you will, inside because of those two things. And especially if you're in a camper conversion, maybe you have a kitchen, seating area, workspace, something like that, this will again basically sit eye level.
So you're gonna have a nice view outward. So you can see it does a great job of reflecting light. It is a 17% privacy tint. That's gonna limit how much someone can see inside and out. To me, it's like having a pair of sunglasses or shades on, really. That's about the color, the tint that you're going with. You can still see behind it, but you can't see a whole lot. It is a safety glass. It meets all DOT and SAE standards, and it's gonna block out about 83% of those UV rays. Now coming from the side, again, this is the driver's side. The passenger one again would be the mirrored image, but you can kind of see it curve so it matches that metal frame on the van. That being said, if you want to tackle this yourself, you're gonna be cutting through that metal obviously. Make sure you have the right tools for that. You're also gonna need some automotive-grade black urethane. That not only helps bond this and hold it in place, but it also is the actual weather seal when it cures that keeps out water, debris, moisture, and those kind of things as well. You may also need primer and a caulk gun and some securing tape or foam tape as well. We carry all that separately. All that to say, if you don't want to tackle it yourself, no worries. We do have an install locator link below the product. You can scroll down a little bit, you can find that install locator link. Click on that link and based on your zip code, we can help pair you up with etrailer-associated installation places around the nation, and they can do that installation for you as well. So once again, folks, we're looking today at the driver's side, but if you want the passenger side, item number VW56VR, make sure you're on the right page for the right part. I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching, and have a great day.

the window is not correctly sized. It still fits, but the back at front edges have a 2mm deviation from top to bottom, with the top and bottom perfectly aligned. Disappointed.

Sorry to hear about the window not fitting properly, Joe. This is designed to fit a Sprinter Van from 2007 to 2026 with the 144" or 170" wheel base and either the Low Roof or High Roof, so I am surprised it isn't 100% correct. Is there any way you could send a couple pictures to [email protected]? I will bring it up with the manufacturer to see if maybe there was a defect in the one you got.
