Light changes how your Transit feels inside. Without it, the rear quarter stays dark and harder to use. This fixed rear quarter window swaps that solid section for glass, bringing in daylight and visibility without creating an open window.
This window replaces the solid metal panel in the driver-side rear quarter of your 148-inch standard wheelbase Ford Transit. Instead of a blank section along the back of the van, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without adding vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the side of the cargo area.
The glass is tempered and meets DOT and SAE standards for road use. Tempered construction allows it to handle normal vehicle movement and, if damaged, it fractures into small pieces rather than sharp shards.
The rear quarter panel sits at eye level from outside and creates a direct view into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the rear quarter panel is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the body panel and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the wall cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with the etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Van Windows Direct fixed rear quarter window, the driver's side of a 2015 through current year Ford Transit rear quarter. Again, this is going to be a 148 inch standard wheel base. This will not work with any of the Transit Connect. So again, double check that fit guide, make sure you're getting the right parts the very first time. So if you're going to be converting your Transit into maybe a camper, maybe an adventure van, maybe a mobile workspace, something of that nature, letting some natural lighting is going to do a big thing for making it feel larger inside, more spacious, and just not so enclosed.
And especially if you have like a bed or a seating area or something in the back, this would be a great option for you as well. You're going to be spending a lot of time, you probably want to see outside, see some of the world and not be so closed in. So looking from the inside out, you can see right through there, kind of like with a pair of shades or sunglasses on. And then from your angle now, from the outside in, you can see it's reflecting my studio lights really good. So it does a great job of keeping the light out where you really can't see inside too much, unless you're right up on it.
Now this glass features a 17% privacy tint. That's going to limit how much someone can see inside like we just mentioned. It's also going to keep out about 83% of those UV rays, so it's going to help keep that heat out as well. Obviously this is your tempered safety glass, so it's going to meet those DOT and SAE standards of safety. This will fit the contour and the OE frame of those vans, just like the image shows.
So what you're going to be doing, if you're going to install this yourself, you're going to be cutting out that little metal pop out right where this goes. You're going to want some automotive grade urethane, sold separately. I recommend on this one, the far right urethane for small windows. And if you don't already have a 26 to one ratio caulk down, I would pick that up as well and the primer and possibly the securing tape or the foam tape depending on what your needs are.
