Airflow makes or breaks how your Transit feels inside. Without it, the space can feel closed in and stuffy. Adding this awning window turns that solid panel into a screened, tinted opening that tilts outward to bring in air while staying protected.
This awning window replaces the fixed glass in the passenger side sliding door of your Ford Transit. The glass is hinged at the top and tilts outward from the bottom on struts, turning that large door panel into a controlled vent. When you're parked, cooking inside, or sleeping in the van, that opening lets air move through the center of the Transit instead of leaving the sliding door sealed shut.
With the glass tilted out, the mesh screen keeps insects from entering through the sliding door opening so you can vent the van overnight. The pleated shade gives you a way to cover that door window when you're sleeping inside or leaving gear in the cargo area. You can use the screen and shade together, separately, or retract both for a clear view.
The sliding door is one of the largest glass sections on the Transit and sits at eye level from outside. The 15% gray tint limits how much someone can see into the van while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 85% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that door glass.
Cutting into the sliding door panel is permanent. The frame has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door skin. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the window is set into place, that urethane bonds the frame to the door panel and becomes the seal that keeps water from entering the interior cavity. This bond holds the window in place and creates the weather barrier so you can vent the van through the sliding door without letting water into the interior.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at this Van Windows Direct Premium Awning Style window for the passenger side sliding door of your Ford Transit. Folks, this fits a 2015 through current year Ford Transit, any wheelbase, but it does not work with the Transit Connect, so make sure you're double checking the fit guide over here at etrailer.com. Enter things like your make and model, make sure you're checking out everything to be sure you're getting the right parts the very first time. Now this is gonna be great because it's gonna be an OE quality and then some.
It has a 15% gray solar tint. And as you can see, that has a reduction of glare on the inside, so it's reflecting the light really good on the outside, keeping it out. It's gonna limit visibility from the inside, or from the outside in, which is what you want, but it's also going to allow you to see out from the inside out and it's gonna block 85% of those UV rays. And as you can see, this is formed. It's gonna be following the factory contour of those Transit passenger side sliding doors and give you an OE look and an OE fit.
Now installation's pretty straightforward. It's a urethane bonded installation. So you will need automotive urethane and that's gonna secure the window and create the primary weather seal as well. I'll put some stuff on the screen that you might want to get separately if you don't have it already. Otherwise, if you don't want to tackle the install yourself, we've got you covered.
Just scroll down and use our install locator link below, enter your zip code and we can help find trusted etrailer installation places in your area. I do want to carefully spin this around a little bit here and show you the side angle. So again, this is an awning style window. I can move four latches and now I can literally just push and I can have this window vented and there's two gas struts, one on each side. Those are gonna hold it open and hold it at any angle that I want.
There's some adjustment knobs on those that you can't see from your angle, but you can also make that tighter or looser, depending on what you want. Now, another other cool feature, on the inside, you have a bottom pull-up screen, and this black one's gonna be just like your standard screen. You can kind of still see my hand through there and stuff. So this would keep bugs out. There is a magnetic strip all the way across there along with the top one. So the top one pulls down and now I have a basically total blackout, if you will. It's white colored, but you can't see anything through there. It's gonna limit light and everything. And then the bottom one, if you had the window open, you can keep rain out, but also keep bugs out. And as I mentioned before, they are magnetic, so you can keep them together, open one or the other at the same time or separate them. And then you have four latches, two on the bottom, two on the sides, to secure that window whenever you're not using it. So folks, again, this is a great option for you if you're adding some ventilation, natural light, privacy, while also maintaining that OE style and look of your passenger van. Now these do come wrapped up really good. There's foam all the way around them and they're inside of another plastic baggie and some other protection as well, along with the box. So you can rest assured it's gonna get to you in good condition. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap up our look together at this Van Windows Direct Premium Awning Style door for the passenger side of your sliding door on those Ford Transits we talked about. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching. Have a good one.
