Airflow through the sliding door changes how your Sprinter feels inside. Instead of a sealed glass panel, this rear-opening half-slider adds a screened vent in the main entry door so you can move air through your van without leaving the door open.
This SER-Series sliding window replaces the fixed glass in the passenger side sliding door of your Sprinter. Instead of a sealed panel in the main entry door, the rear-opening glass section slides back to create a vent along the center of the van. When you're parked, cooking inside, or sleeping overnight, that opening lets air move through the sliding door instead of leaving it closed off.
When the glass is slid open, the integrated mesh screen stays in place to block insects from entering through the door opening. The spring-loaded latch holds the panel where you set it so the glass remains positioned while you're driving or parked.
The sliding door is one of the largest glass sections on the Sprinter and sits at eye level from outside. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see into the van while still allowing visibility out. It also reduces UV exposure through that door glass.
Cutting into the sliding door panel is permanent. The frame has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the door skin. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the window is set into place, that urethane bonds the frame to the door and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the interior cavity. This bond holds the window in place and creates the weather barrier so you can vent the van through the sliding door without letting water into the interior.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at our Van Windows Direct SER series sliding window for the driver's side or passenger side sliding door. Now folks, this fits a 2007 to 2009 Dodge Sprinter, any wheelbase, the '07 to 2021 Freightliner Sprinters, any wheel base, and the 2010 through current year Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, any wheel base. So again, if you want the driver's side, that's item number VW84F or 84VR. And the passenger side we're looking at today in person is the VW96VR.
So again folks, today, I have the passenger side. They are literally the same thing, just a mirrored image. As you can see, you do have the sliding window, you got a screen, and you got this half sliding glass. So if you're camping, cooking, or just spending a whole lot of time inside your Sprinter, maybe you want to turn it into a van, maybe it's a workplace, you need some fresh air, some light, this is a great option for you. So instead of having a sealed window, which we also offer separately, if you don't want a sliding one, you can use this half slider and simply open it up.
Now I can have some fresh air, bring some light inside of the dingy van, hot workspace. Now it's gonna be able to cool off and I'm gonna be able to enjoy the inside of my van. So zooming in here a little bit, you can see how this half slider works. Simply pull the latch, open or close. I can even open the screen if I really wanna let more air and stuff in, but the screen keeps the bugs out.
And as you can see, I've got a nice lip all the way around this. And it does have a nice tint on it as well. It's about a 17% privacy tint. It's gonna block out about 83% of all those UV rays. It's gonna keep people from seeing really what's going on inside your van, but it's also gonna keep that light out.
As you can see, it's reflecting really good. It's bouncing overhead lights from the studio here often away. As far as installation, pretty simple. All you gotta do is cut a hole in the side of your van and use some automotive grade urethane, and install this in place. Now, I know a lot of you are like, "Steven, I don't wanna do that. I don't know how to do that," no problem. All these products are sold separately if you do wanna tackle yourself. If not, we do have an install locator link below on the product page. Scroll down and find that link, click on it, type in your zip code. And based on your location, we can help pair you up with trusted etrailer locations in your area or trusted etrailer location installation places, rather, in your area that we're affiliated with. And they can take care of that install for you. So once again, folks, if you want the driver's side, that's item number VW84VR, make sure you're on the driver's side page if that's the one you're intending to buy. Or if you're looking for the passenger side, make sure you're on VW96VR page, and verify all that before you make the purchase. That's gonna wrap up our quick look together, folks. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
