When towing your vehicle with a tow bar, all 4 wheels are in contact with the ground. Certain vehicles - namely, those with front-wheel-drive automatic transmissions - require either a transmission lube pump system or a driveshaft disconnect when being flat towed. Using a tow dolly eliminates the need for those by lifting your vehicle's front wheels off the road. In addition, using a dolly eliminates the need for base plates that clutter the front of your towed car, difficult-to-install wiring, and a potentially expensive supplemental braking system. Also, if you want to tow multiple vehicles, this dolly is a great alternative to traditional flat towing because you don't have to purchase and install brackets and wiring for all of your cars.

Superior Design

Electric Brakes

The built-in electric brakes make it safe and easy to stop your vehicle while you're towing. This meets towing requirements, and also helps prevent the extra wear and tear on your RV's brakes that would otherwise occur because of the added towing weight. An electric brake controller (sold separately) must be purchased and mounted inside your RV to complete the installation. In addition, you will need a 6-way or 7-way trailer connector on the dolly so that it can receive the braking signal from your RV.

Universal Compatibility

The sliding ramps offer a 47" range of adjustment to ensure a precise fit for almost any vehicle you decide to tow. Also, the included wheel nets adjust to fit tires that are up to 30" outer diameter x 11" wide.

This Roadmaster tow dolly was manufactured extremely well. The welds and metal grade are traditional made in America high-quality. Putting it together at home will take two people and the right tools-plan for the day accordingly. I used heat shrink wrap, high quality electrical tape and zip ties to control the wiring better. Follow the assembly directions carefully. This is one heavy product delivery. I towed our Ford Focus and it tows beautifully. Backing up can be challenging. When loading your vehicle you may have to get your front tires very close to the tip of the rack to make the fulcrum effect work. Once again this is a great product and worth the extra $.

Added a spare tire carrier and wheel jack (also available from eTrailer). With attention to all fasteners and tire pressure, tow dolly performed well. First trip out of the box was 4000 miles rt to Yellowstone NP, no problems.

Dolly seems fine. Still putting it together. But there was never any any type of tracking information provided. Just a note it was received on the 1st. It said it was shipped on the 5th and then nothing until we got a call for delivery on the 14th. I generally get some sort of tracking information which I much prefer.

  • Does Roadmaster Tow Dolly have to be Licensed and Registered
The Roadmaster tow dolly # RM-2050-1 does have a license plate bracket but the rules for what needs to be licensed and registered is going to depend on the state you are in. You will need to call your local DMV to inquire. Most likely it will NOT have to be licensed and registered like a trailer.

  • Recommended Tow Dolly For Front Wheel Drive Buick Envision With Adaptive Cruise Control
Unfortunately at this point there is not a baseplate that will allow for the adaptive cruise control. I have a solution for you if it is a front wheel drive vehicle, but not if it is an all wheel drive vehicle. If it is front wheel drive, your owners manual states that you can tow it with the front wheels off the ground. I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes - 4,250 lbs # RM-2050-1. A tow dolly is really your only option, other than a trailer, so I hope you have...

  • Can a 2010 Honda Accord be Flat Towed Behind a RV
According to Honda, the 2010 Honda Accord cannot be flat towed with all 4 wheels on the ground. Your best option to tow your vehicle will be to use a tow dolly like the Roadmaster Tow Dolly w/ Electric Brakes, # RM-2050-1. The tow dolly will allow your Honda to ride with the front wheels off the ground which will guarantee that you will not damage the vehicle's transmission. I also recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154, for a lighting solution. The kit...

  • Tow Dolly Recommendation to Tow 2013 Chevy Spark Behind Motorhome
I did some checking and the only recommended way to tow a 2013 Chevy Spark behind a motorhome would be with a tow dolly like the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1. There isn't a transmission lube pump available for your vehicle to anyone's knowledge. The advantage to a tow dolly is it's about the same price as a flat towing setup, takes much less install time, and easily transferred to future vehicles as well.

I did some checking and it looks like the CVT transmission 2015 Honda Fits aren't recommended for flat towing with all 4 wheels down on the ground. • Availability of Base Plates to Flat Tow 2013 Nissan Rogue
According to my contacts at Blue Ox and Roadmaster, your Rogue isn't capable of being flat towed due it its CVT transmission. Attempting to flat tow the vehicle would damage the transmission, and there aren't any modifications that can be made that would allow the Rogue to be safely flat towed. You are correct, to install the replacement driver's side stop/turn signal # RM-300220-40 and replacement ID light # RM-300230-10 you will need to jack up your Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1 and remove the wheel on that side.
