2018 Ford Edge Flat towable?

I checked out the owner's manual for your 2018 Ford Edge and it looks like you can flat tow most variations of the Edge but if you have the 2.0L EcoBoost with an automatic transmission (6F35) then you need to tow it using a dolly or with all 4 wheels off the ground.
For the tow dolly option I recommend using the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1 which has electric brakes. To activate the brakes you will also need a 6-Way connector like part # PK11604 or a 7-Way connector like part # PK12706. Although the tow dolly has lights it is good practice to go ahead and install some magnetic lights, like part # TL21RK, to make sure people can see what you are doing.
To flat tow your Ford Edge then you need a basek plate kit like the Blue Ox # BX2667 and a compatible tow bar and safety cables like what comes with the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380. The base plate kit fits all models of the Edge excluding 2.0L EcoBoost.
For lighting I recommend the same magnetic towing lights # TL21RK. These are a great option because they easily install and don't require you to take apart your vehicle to add wiring.
Most states now require that a supplemental braking system be used for flat towing. We recommend going with one regardless because it makes your towing setup much more safe and puts less stress on your motorhome and towed vehicle. I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 because once it is installed you hardly know it is there. After connecting it to your motorhome it is a simple flip of a switch to activate the system.
Typically a high-low adapter needs to be used for a flat towing setup as well to ensure that your tow bar sits within the 3" safe range that is highlighted in the helpful article on choosing an adapter. I have also linked our selection of adapters for you to filter through in the case that you need one.
Be sure to follow any specific instructions highlighted in your owner's manual in regards to towing your Edge.
