Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

The Thule Hitching Post Pro is the ultimate bike rack for riders that take their hobby seriously but don't have a ton of money to spend pursuing it. This 4-bike carrier has room for a family of bikes, as well as anti-sway cradles, a tilting mast, folding arms, a hitch adapter and - best of all - a palatable price tag.

Thule Hitching Post Pro anti-sway cradles

Hold Fast anti-sway cradles - found on Thule's Vertex racks - set the Hitching Post Pro apart from other bike racks in this price range. These innovative cradles grip your bike frame at three different points - twice along the top bar and once along a downward bar, such as a seat post. This third point of contact that is created with Thule's No-Sway Cage prevents not only sway, but also front-to-back movement and bike-to-bike contact. The cushioned cradles include reinforced rubber straps to secure the bikes in place. The cradles also include advanced grooves that accommodate bike cables.

Thule Hitching Post Pro dual armsThule Hitching Post Pro dual arms folded down

The dual arms of the Hitching Post Pro provide your bikes with excellent support during transport. The arms provide plenty of space for you to slide and rotate the anti-sway cradles for perfect bike positioning, and they conveniently fold down for storage when not in use with the simple pull of a pin.

Thule Hitching Post Pro tilting mast

For easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area, the Hitching Post Pro mast tilts forward away from your vehicle. Simply pull a pin at the base to release the mast.

Thule Hitching Post Pro with 2" adapter sleeve on shank

An easy-to-use adapter sleeve is included to convert the 1-1/4" shank for use with 2" hitches. The rack also comes with an anti-rattle device incorporated into the shank to reduce vibration and noise in the hitch for a smooth, quiet ride - simply tighten the hitch bolt with a wrench.

A Snug-Tite hitch lock (THSTL2; sold separately) is available for locking the rack to your hitch. And you can lock your bikes to the rack using Thule's locking cable with a One Key System core so it can be keyed alike with your hitch lock - just purchase a two-pack of Thule lock cores.

The Hitching Post Pro includes an anti-sway strap to reduce movement of the handlebars and front wheels during transport.

Video Transcript for Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review

Today, we'll be reviewing the Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH934XTR. This bike rack can be used in both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches and the vehicle today that we'll be installing it on has a 2-inch hitch. We'll need to install the adapter sleeve. We'll slide the sleeve over the 1-1/4-inch hitch shank. We'll line up the small threaded hole and install our bolt. We can then tighten it down with an Allen wrench.

That readies our bike rack for a 2-inch hitch, so we'll go ahead and install it. Now, you're Hitching Post Pro comes with an anti-rattle bolt, flat washer and lock washer which we'll use to secure to the vehicle. Also included with the Hitching Post Pro is their multipurpose tool. We'll now slide the shank into the hitch. We can then line up the hitch pin hole and install our anti-rattle bolt.

We can then use the multipurpose tool to tighten down our anti-rattle bolt, and with a quick shake, you could see our bike is secured to the vehicle. If you would like to secure your bikes to the bike rack, you can use this islet which is our cable lock. Another great feature of this bike rack is the mast's ability to tilt out of the way to access the cargo area. To do this, we'll simply remove the lanyard, pull your pin, and the bike rack folds down, which gives us plenty of room to access our cargo area. After retrieving the items from our trunk, we'll simply fold it back up, reinstall our pin, and secure it with the lanyard.

Its arms will also fold down for storage when not in use. We'll go ahead and swing them up to load our bike. We'll again pull the lanyard here at the top of the mast, remove the pin, and swing the arms out. We can then reinstall our pin and secure it with the lanyard. The dual arm design offers an excellent bike support and minimizes the need for bike adapter bars.

Now, the cradles of this bike rack will hold the bike at three points to prevent sway in bike-to-bike contact. The soft rubber straps are what secure the bike to the bike rack. The anti-sway cradles will be the third attachment point and this bike rack does come with four no-sway cages that are removable. To remove them, you'll simply pull them in and pull them straight down. Now, we're ready to go ahead and load our bike. Now, we're going to go ahead and mount our bike on the outermost cradles for demonstration purposes only. We'll then place our bike into the cradles and make sure that our anti-sway cage meets the seat post. We can then strap down the top post and move to our anti-sway cage. Pull it tight, strapping it down. That will secure our bike to the bike rack. The grooves are molded into the cradle to help prevent your cables on your bicycles from getting crushed while sitting in the carrier. Thule also includes an anti-sway strap to help prevent movement of the bikes on the carrier. To install the strap, we'll simply wrap it around our bicycle, and with our strap around the bike, we can then go around the mast of the bike rack which will further secure your bike to the bike rack. We'll then take the excess strap and secure it back to itself to prevent it from blowing in the wind. Now that we've demonstrated our installation, our bike will go ahead and move it to the innermost cradles and take it on a drive. That will complete our review of the Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH934XTR.

Very happy with my Thule hitch-mounted, four-bike rack. I used to worry about hauling two bikes on my old strap-on rack, but no more! I've yet to use it with four bikes, but it's handled one, two, and three bikes with ease. It's easy enough to install and un-install for one person, and a breeze with two. I've taken several camping trips during which I get stuff out of and put stuff into the back of my Ford Escape. The rack folds down quickly and easily to make this possible-- getting it almost completely out of the way. The one area that could be better is security. There's no way to lock the rack to the hitch nor the bikes to the rack. 558365

There are several cable locks that are available that would help in getting the bikes locked to the bike rack, such as the # TH538XT
Thule Cable Lock w/ One Key System Lock - 6' Long
$39.95
. For locking the bike rack to the hitch you can use the Thule Snug Tite hitch lock # THSTL2
Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device
$59.95
. I do recommend using this Thule hitch lock since Thule does us propietary threads on their bike racks, so standard hitch pin locks would not work, and would not provide the tightening features.

Hitch rack was really easy to install and super easy to use! I had a rack that hung off of the rear spoiler on the back of my SUV. My son opened it while the rack was attached and it was torn off. After having it fixed I looked for a different rack that would hold multiple bikes. I did not want to lift the bike onto the top of the car for our normal weekend rides out of town and for our longer family trips there is often a rooftop carrier up top. The rack sits far enough away from the lift gate but I will still have to be careful. I am going to get some pipe insulator and wrap it around the upright so that if my kids open the tailgate, I won't be crying!! 442987

We are very pleased with our bike rack and it gets a lot of use. The only reason for one less star is we can't open our rear gate all the way when the bike rack arm is lowered. Otherwise it would get 5 stars hands down. The service has also been excellent from etrailer. They really want to make sure you have the best product to serve your needs. If I ever need another rack, I wouldn't use any other company. Customer for life :-) 431325

This is a solid bike rack. We recently invested in a couple of really nice Trek bikes and I didn't feel comfortable strapping them to the back of my car with a $50 bike rack. I am very happy with the sturdiness and the quality of this rack. Fitting 4 bikes on it would be a tight squeeze, but probably doable. I've only had three on mine at any one time. One of the features that I like over this one is the ability for the arms to fold down. This allows me to be able to keep the rack on my car and it still fits in the garage. Definitely worth the extra $50, especially if you plan on keeping it mounted on your vehicle. Oh, and the upgrade in shipping was awesome as well. I received it in just a few days. I highly recommend. Get your's today! 51678

This Thule Hitching Post Pro is a very solid bike rack that fits my 2007 Jeep liberty perfectly. There is no jiggle movement, the bikes fit snug and secure for any length transport. The rack was easy to assemble with the instructions and folds down in a secure position when not in use. I would highly recomment for use with a vehicle that has the spare tire on the rear outside. 438912

I ordered the hitch and Thule bike rack for my 2013 Honda CRV and I couldn't be happier how fast I received the products and how easy it was to install. I was able to install the hitch to the car in two hours by myself by following the online video instructions. The one change I made was reinstalling my bottom plastic debris protector panel after I installed the hitch. I added slits to where the cutouts were located and reattached to the underbody of the car. Only one plastic locking fastener I could not re-install afterwards due to the interference of the hitch but was secure enough anyway without it. I hesitated in buying a hitch for the CRV because I thought it would be too expensive to buy and to install but etrailer.com changed that misconception for me. The bike rack was very easy to connect to the hitch and was very secure with no swaying on the hitch. Bikes were easy to load although don't expect the bikes to fit as intended by the manufacturer but I made it work. 276696

The bike hitch was very easy to assemble and install, and folds down to a convenient size when not in use. I’ve already used it to get my daughter’s bike from a friend’s house at night, and it was easy to load and unload. I am looking foreword to taking all our bikes to the trail and riding as a family. 574033

The Thule is a secure system for 4 bikes. Once I spaced the support blocks optimally (especially putting the outermost blocks as far apart as possible), it was not hard to mount all four bikes. The only downside is that the rack sticks out pretty far, and as a result it strikes the ground on speed bumps and sloped driveways. My setup is a Drawtite hitch mount on a Camry, so it must be a fairly common configuration. I even had a machine shop chop off two inches and tap a new hole, to use the available mount clearance and reduce how much it sticks out. I think the frequency of ground strikes is reduced, but it still happens. 212054

I'm very happy with this rack. I bought it strictly on the brand recognition and reputation of Thule. It's very sturdy and well built. It easily installs in my class III receiver and the anti-rattle bolt snugs it in very well. This rack is perfect for my frequency of riding (4-5 times per month). I also take out after each use. If you are a higher frequency rider or plan to leave the rack mounted for the entire season, I recommend a higher end rack. My only complaint (like many others) is the additional $50 fee to purchase a locking bolt for this rack. I still highly recommend this rack for my level of riding! 431731

The product seems quite sturdy. It was easy to install into the 2" hitch on my 2011 Honda CR-V. The cradles hold the bikes nice and snug, and the anti-sway arms provide added security. As others have mentioned, the anti-sway arms are not described in the installation instructions, so I had to figure those out from pictures. The folding arms and tilting mast made it quite easy to access the rear compartment of the vehicle. I was able to get 4 adult road bikes onto the rack, but it was extremely tight. With the weight of 4 bikes on it, the rack bounced up and down quite a bit while driving. I purchased the hitch lock to go with it, which added 50 bucks to my cost (that seems a bit steep!). But overall I am quite satisfied for the price. Great service and quick delivery from etrailer.com! 143862

Mounted on a DrawTite Class III hitch for a 2008 Outback. Assembly was VERY easy, and it seems pretty sturdy overall. I feel a little iffy on the sleeve that converts/fits it to a 2" hitch from a materials perspective - I wasn't expecting it to be plastic/nylon (not 100% sure what it is exactly so correct me if I'm wrong!) but I imagine it'll probably be fine. The small plastic bars that mount the anti-sway cages also seem like they could be subject to wear from the twisting motion to install them, so that's something I'll have to watch out for. Concerns aside, the test drives I did on suburban streets and a few miles of ~75 MPH interstate seemed to go pretty well with two 30-lb bikes on it. I will say that my wife's Salsa Marrakesh has a slightly compact enough geometry that it was a little bit of a challenge getting the top tube over the cradles, so I'd imagine anything smaller than that is going to be difficult to put on there as well, but my Cross Check fit on it just fine. 523278

Product is very sturdy and easy to assemble. Everything is secure, and we took it out with no issues. Plenty of safety measures to ensure everything stays in place. The one concern we have is that it doesn't give us enough clearance to open our CR-V back all the way. We can get it far enough so that it stays open by itself, so it isn't a big issue, but if you want to open it all the way you'll either need a hitch that is extended from beyond the bumper 6 inches to 1 foot, or you'll have to remove the rubber stop in this post so that it will recline the entire way. We haven't done that since we are ok with how far the back can open, so not sure how easy or possible that would even be, but would appear to be an option. We have only taken it out a couple times so far, but overall, this seems like a great product! 269396

When ordering this product I was excited that id could accommodate two hitch receiver sizes. However, that is this carrier's weakness. The length of the arm is so long that my bicycles bounce severely. I can't use a stabilizing strap since my Toyota Highlander has a plastic spoiler that prevents me from using it. (Unfortunately eTrailer specifically recommended this hitch for my Highlander.) Also the 1 1/4 inch beam that fits into the 2" plastic adapter allows for quite a bit of torque. If you have a 2" hitch I highly recommend buying a bike rack designed for a 2" hitch. This carrier would probably be more solid sitting in a 1 1/4" hitch. By the way, the straps are adjustable. I had trouble attaching two adult and two kid bikes until I properly distributed the location of the straps. 470662

I have contacted Thule and the plastic adapter is made of a composite material with nylon to make it strong. It has been tested thoroughly for safety. If you would still prefer a metal adapter, I recommend part # 853-7489

As with EVERY purchase at etrailer.com, communication was great, product information was incredibly comprehensive - info, images, videos, and the product was delivered on time, as expected, packaged well. Coupled with the hidden hitch I also purchased from etrailer for our 2014 Buick Enclave, the installation of both took 30 minutes, look GREAT, and work like a charm. I wish all customer service experiences were like this!!! Little B gives it the full thumbs up! 141759

While searching for a good hitch bike rack for our 2013 Subaru Outback I was looking for something that would be secure in the hitch and provide good capacity for multiple bikes. I had been looking at the Yakima brand units and while they look great and are strong I learned that almost everything Yakima makes other than cargo boxes is made in China now. Thule however has made a great investmeent in USA by continuing to produce most of their products here (Odd that a USA company produces in China while a Swedish company produces in USA!). The Hitching Post Pro seems like an exclusive product for eTrailer.com as I could not find it anywhere else. Other retailers have a similar unit, but without the anti-sway. The units without the anti-sway were actually higher than the price I paid from eTrailer on the one with anti-sway. I had an issue with another rack without anti-sway where the pedals off my bike scratched our previous Honda CRV. The hitching Post Pro is based on the old style Thule hitch rack, i.e. still using pins for the dual fold down capability rather than the clicking/locking mechanisms and it also has the old style box style main post, but I love the price for what you get with this rack. One suggestion would be to include the locking hitch pin. Thule wants $45 for a locking hitch pin (crazy!) 76493

Product is great. No issues so far. One thing I wish it had were a lock pin

Thule packages the Hitching Post Pro with a non-locking anti-rattle bolt to keep the cost down, but they do offer a locking unit as an opiton. The locking anti-rattle bolt is part # THSTL2
Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device
$59.95
. It's still a threaded bolt that pulls the rack snug, but it is lockable. If you have other Thule racks, you can swap out the lock cores and make them all keyed alike.

After returning a rack to a local shop due its wobbly and difficult-to-load bikes, I went to good old etrailer.com where I have bought numerous items previously. Our Thule Hitching Post Pro showed up promptly and within 30 minutes I had it attached to my Suburban. The rack is strong, ridged and very well constructed but what stands out in this purchase was the customer service at E-trailer, especially Rebecca N. We bought the 4-bike rack to have for a planned trip and I had concerns about having it on time, but the Customer Service people stayed right on top of our order and we had it in plenty of time. Thanks Rebecca & associates in CS! 401674

etrailer is a good place to look for hitches, and provided quick and easy delivery. This new trailer hitch by Thule is an improvement over the last one I have because it allows you to easily fold down the bars if you do not have any bikes on them. Also, the entire hitch can easily fold down and out of the way if you need to get into your car trunk. This is the 3rd hitch we have in our family, and we all love our Thule Hitches. 216910

We love the hitch, its our 3rd one. It makes taking bikes out to the good cycling trails easy. Now, just need more time to ride!thanks for checking.

I bought this bike rack back in April but wanted to make sure I used it to give the best review. First I want to say I did a lot of research on bike racks and found this one to be the best one to fit my needs. The best price I found was on etrailer.com, at the time it was When I called the customer service to place my order, I spoke to Dan. He was very pleasant on the phone and took the time and listened to what I needed and understood my concerns. I ordered the bike rack and also ordered the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device and the Thule Cable Lock w/ One Key System Lock. Dan suggested I also get the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, which I never even thought of getting. Delivery was in about two business days, which was really fast and at the time of order they were running a special free delivery over $99. When I went to put it together I noticed I was missing the flat cap screw M6 x 16mm, part number #853-5787-02. I emailed Dan and within 24 hours received an email that the part was sent out and also in the email their was a link to track the order. After I received the part I did notice that the flat cap screw was actually in the 2 inch adaptor sleeve. The instructions were very easy to read, and it took me about 20 minutes to put together. I did have an issue when I positioned the stinger into the cradle, with the 8mm locking nut, it was not staying tight and when I took it off I noticed the threads inside were gone, so I ended up going out to Lowes and buying a new one and its holds perfectly fine. I also had a question about that part because it is not a locking part and was worried someone would try to steal the rack. I contacted etrailer.com to find if they make a locking device for this and they said no but I can contact Thule to double check, I'm still waiting for an answer back from Thule. The weather finally broke and we installed the rack onto my hitch, tightened it and it doesn't rattle. When I finally used the rack and put my bike on, it did sway a little but at 50 mph I was very happy with it. The trailer comes out just enough away from my car that I do not have to fold completely out and I can open my trunk with no issues. I am very happy with my purchase and had a great customer experience with Dan. Would highly recommend ordering from them to anyone. 529819

i am writing this review bit early. didn't have much time to actually go out and use it. shipping and packing was fine. nothing broke or bend and quick. looking for something good to fall in price range. not a heavy bike user. Ordered hitch receiver from etrailer also which worked great I think. I fit it my self. about this rack, it runs bit heavy.. weight itself is around 33 lbs. and hinge where it can be tilt down is less strong compared to rack itself... but hopefully will hold for few over 3-5 years. happy about rack quality though, it's really sturdy. now the hole for pin where it holds in receiver have some issues. I was worrying about dimensions and this is where I got hit. Rack specification didn't mension the size of diameter of hole where hitch pin fit neither it recommned anything. It comes with bolt but I was looking for something I can keep rack for kind of permanent with lock pin. So I started to shop arround to be precise hitch pin lock. Surprisingly the drilled hole in rack for hitch pin is off odd size. 11mm-12mm (12 on very tight fit) and nothing in market comes with that diameter size. checked everywhere and all carry standard 1/2 in and 5/8 diameter size. So I am now without locking hitch pin. probably will return or have to rely with 15' cable lock for all time which works both on rack and bike together. I will be calling etrailer for solution but not sure it will be helpfull, as they also carry standard size only. so wait till then...I will update once I found solution for this. By the way I did have recomondation from etrailer on three different rack. I picked this one. the representaive did answer for my question though. which were helpfull in certain ways. 246258

I recently ordered this bike rack this October. I first called etrailer to inquire about bike rack for trailer hitches and had no idea which one to go with. The salesman was very well informed and answered any question I had. This hitch for the value makes The most sense for me. I only use the hitch for two bikes, but being Thule has a lifetime warranty, I figured Id spend the extra 10 dollars and get the rack that can support the extra bikes for my future family. The bike rack came mostly assembled and is quite easy to use. The rack is not heavy and sits securely in the hitch. I bought the additional lock for the trailer hitch which is also great and made my Thule. The additional lock came with washers that help secure the hitch into place and make sure it does not move anywhere while driving. The hitch is threaded which also helps the hitch become very secure. I've used this rack quite frequently the past 2 weeks, including highway and city driving. I also had the hitch on the the bicycle mounted during a very windy storm. The hitch stayed secure and the bike was fine. I highly recommend this hitch. I would highly advise to spend the extra 50 dollars to purchase the lock as well, being these things are easy targets to be stolen. My only gripe with the hitch, is that you need an adaptor for any female bicycles. I found out the hard way. I was never made aware that I needed an adaptor and scratched my girlfriends bike all up tying to fit the bike in place. The adaptor cost 20 something bucks and I have not yet used it so I can't say how it works. Will review once I use it. Overall great hitch for the price. A great buy for bicycle enthusiast who travel frequently. 156734

Bike rack went together quickly and with no issues and mounted easily. Seems very solid and all fittings worked smoothly. They supplied wrench to tighten the security bolt in the hitch but didn't supply an allen wrench to remove the 2" receiver adapter portion. ( I have a 1-1/4" receiver in my hitch). That is a little strange since they supplied the other wrench but no big deal since I had a 5 mm allen wrench. Seems like a good value. 130965

This is my first bike rack purchase ever and I am very pleased with my choice. I was contemplating between Thule or Yakima, I decided to go with this Thule because it holds 4 bikes and the value and price was just hard to beat. The quality and build of this rack is very nice. After installing it onto the hitch and inserting the anti-rattle bolt, this piece of hardware is going nowhere. It feels very durable and sturdy. Driving with the rack on without any bikes mounted, I did not even notice or feel that there was a rack mounted behind my vehicle. Very low noise and pleasant to drive with. With the bikes mounted on the rack, it holds each bike very tightly with its straps. Still, a pretty quiet ride with the bikes on. Not much of a rattle but you do notice and hear it slightly especially for rear passengers. As the driver, I barely noticed anything until I looked into my rear view mirror. I highly recommend this bike rack, it's easy to install and worth the price. It feels like a quality rack that can last for many years. 367745

Just used this for the first time and I'm happy to report a total success! I installed it in 10 minutes and loaded up all 4 of our bikes very easily (2 adult and 2 kid). Prior to purchase, I read a review stating that you could not fit 4 bikes on the rack--as you can see from my photo that is totally false-- all 4 fit well. I definitely suggest the tilting version because otherwise you probably won't be able to open your hatch to load. On the road, it was stable, no bouncing and quiet-- no rattling. Highly recommend this model! And thanks to Wayne H at etrailer for the great and kind help! 143111

Thank you for posting pictures. I read the same comment about having trouble fitting 4 bikes, but those four bikes were all adult bikes which hardly compare to your two childrens bikes that are quite small. It would be good for the company to be more specific about what size bikes will fit if they say you can fit 4 bikes on a rack. I will have an adult bike and two kids bikes as well, but for older kids with bigger bikes. My sons being almost as big as mine, but your picture helped put that into perspective. My husband doesnt have a bike right now, but wanted the capability of the rack I purchase of holding 4 bikes if he decided to get one. Thanks for your picture!

Thanks for your comment Kristin. I have included a video link for you to view below where we demonstrated loading 4 adult bikes on a similar hitch mounted 4 bike rack. A few of helpful hints when you get to that point are: make sure that you load the bikes in an alternating fashion, adjust the pedals as needed, and use an adapter bar if needed. The Thule # TH982XT
Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes
$49.95
adapter bar is best used when loading women's, children's, or alternative frame bikes, it allows the bike to be carried a level position.

I purchased the Thule bike rack because of the high ratings and good user feedback. I was looking for a fairly simple 2-inch tube rack that would securely hold our family's 4 bikes. Assembly was simple and it's ease of use was great. My Audi Q7 trunk could also open with the hitch in place upright, but without the bikes on. When the bikes were on we were able to use the bottom angled hinge to quickly access the trunk, although it was a 2 person operation to ensure the bikes didn't fall off. We are a family of 4 and have 2 mountain bikes and 2 toddler bikes. I could see how other people have had issues fitting 4 adult sized bikes on the rack, although I can't say for sure that they wouldn't fit. The bar spacing allowed us to get the kids bikes on even though it wasn't super pretty. Once they upgrade to larger bikes it should make it a lot easier. Over all I am very satisfied with the purchase. If I were to offer any critiques I would say that the rack sticks out quite far from the back of my car. It would probably be perfect if I had a spare tire on the back of the car, but in my situation the bikes are pretty far from the car. I also see how people would like the option for a 2-inch OR 1-1/4-inch, but I would have preferred just a solid 2-inch connection. The rack was solid in place for the first hour long ride, but we will have to see over time if it stays rigid with the 2-inch adapter. 295496

First of all, I want to say the customer service was world-class. From product information and alternative choices to order handling, the service was fantastic. My wife and I had planned a trip to Santa Barbara for our 28th anniversary and wanted to bring our bikes. So I ordered the Thule Hitching Post Pro five days ahead of our departure date and selected UPS Priority 3-Day shipping, thinking I had 2 buffer days. Well, to no fault of e-trailer, UPS had a delay on their "guaranteed" delivery service and it was not going to get to me in time. So I called etrailer customer service and Shaii B. handled it perfectly. She created a new order with overnight shipping and got that going immediately. Then she provided me with a return label so when I got back from my trip, I could slap it on the box and send it right back. We received the bike rack the next day, in time for our trip. Assembly and installation was very easy on my 2014 Infiniti QX-80 SUV. I was able to install it completely by myself. A few tips: 1) layout all of the parts and review the assembly instructions first to get a feel for how everything connects. If you bought the hitch lock and key set, you will need to use those instructions when it comes time to attach the rack to the hitch receiver. 2) If you can't lift the rack yourself, get someone to help you. 3) Once you have it all setup, double check the tightness of the bolts holding the hitch to the rack to make sure they are tight enough. 4) When you get the bikes on the rack, you may need to use small pads or cloths and small bungie cords to keep parts of the bike frame, brake handles or pedals from rubbing against each other. This was the only ad-hoc adjustment I had to do. Some parts were not quite touching but close enough that if there were bumps or vibrations, I wanted to prevent them from scratching each other. 5) The anti-sway pieces may not line up exactly with the center post of your bikes but since the rubber strap is long and sturdy, it still secures the bikes and keeps them from swaying. Other than that, everything fit perfectly. On the road, the bikes were solid and secure. No rattling noises and held perfectly even over bumps and driveway entrances/exits. Granted the trip was only 2 1/2 hours each way but it was flawless. We did run into a little rain on the way back and realized I need to get some plastic covers for the seats to keep them dry in case of rain. All in all, a great value, easy setup, excellent customer service and perfect fit. I don't usually take the time to provide reviews but my experience was extraordinary and wanted to share it. 317445

Used our bike rack exactly twice before it broke. A very disappointing purchase. The first trip was to the beach. Held three bikes fine. The second ill-fated adventure was to Anza Borrego holding three bikes (two of them small kid's bikes). Everything was mounted properly and attached. By the time we returned home from our trip, the bolt connecting the rack to the mount sheared off (see picture). The only thing holding the rack in place was the now untethered rod inserted into the hitch mount. We were extremely lucky the rack did not fall off on our drive home where our bike mount problem would have potentially become other unwitting drivers's problem with an unexpected rack and attached bikes launched on the freeway. Really could have been a very big problem. The price per use on this product=not worth it. 460426

The bike rack works as advertised and has lasted well over the year I have owned it. It is easy to put on and take off each summer. The only thing I don't like (and this is my fault because I didn't do my own research into the options available) is the way it goes up and down in order for you to open your back trunk. I have a Honda CRV and I need to lift up the back in order to open it. Therefore, I need to lower and raise the bike rack every time I want to put my groceries in the back. For this rack, you need to pull out a pin, lower it open trunk and then finagle the pin back in when you raise it. It's not that bad; however, I have seen other Thule racks where you just press something and it lowers and raises. Looks like it would be less of a hassle, and that's what I would have purchased had I known about it. That's why I gave this one 4 stars. 400897

This is a great hitch rack. It's hard to find one that works with the Toyota RAV4 since the rear-mounted tire means a rack has to have a lot of clearance between the vehicle and the vertical part of the rack. This is an easy to use, stable rack that's been great for travel. It's easy to mount and doesn't take up a ton of space when we're not using it. We've used it for in town and out of town bike transport. It hasn't damaged anything on my bike including the paint. The reason it doesn't qualify for 5 stars, in my opinion, is it doesn't easily fit 4 full size bikes, especially those with alternate or woman-type frames. The only other concern I have (this doesn't affect star-rating in my opinion because it's more related to car style than the rack itself) is there is very little ground clearance when the rack is on because of the huge length of the shaft, again, necessary to clear the rear-mounted tire. We've bottomed out several times just driving around town even being very careful to avoid deep driveways etc. It wouldn't be great for any type of off-roading for that reason. I would definitely buy it again and feel this is a much better, more stable alternative to a tire-mounted rack. I put my bike on it so I pretty much trust it with my life :) 338699

I'm from a generation that's still very skeptical about making purchases online, sight unseen, without ever putting my hands on it. Yes, I'm that guy. I surfed around looking at different bike carriers for my Jeep with 17" wheels. I mention that because I wanted to use my trailer hitch for the carrier. I even went to a few brick and mortar stores so I could "touch" it. Couldn't find the right one so I went back to the web and found etrailer.com. It was the only site that I felt offered the best selection and had enough reviews to back them up. Still being a skeptic and missing that "touch" I put off the purchase for a few more weeks. Gave me time to look a little more at the brick and mortar shops for kicks. Finally I was ready. I came back etrailer.com and phoned in to order. Still wanted to have a human in the process. Times are changing and I'm changing with them, so when a woman answered the phone I had a momentary reaction that made me think that she wouldn't be able to help. Before I took another second to doubt, I just started with questions and she knew all the answers. The reviews were right and that was a pleasant surprise. She gave me some options but we both agreed that for what I wanted, my original selection was the best option. No pressure to upsell me, just the right equipment for the job. I paid for the carrier and she said I'd have it by the end of the week. I doubted that even though it was Monday evening. Thursday of that week my order arrived. Two bolts and it was attached to my Jeep. Just like that I was ready to go. Thanks to all the helpful folks at etrailer.com 290390

Ordered the Draw-Tite 24763 for my 2015 Honda Civic Sedan, and was very satisfied at the speed and detail of not only the correspondence and email between etrailer.com but also the shipping speed and condition of packaging. I received this in six days from start to finish of order. I did not spring for faster shipping and was satisfied with this type of time frame considering the size and weight of packaging. I also got the Thule Hitching Post TH934XTR four bike rack and THSTL2 hitch lock anti-rattle device. I had planned ahead by watching all of the great videos on etrailer and printed out some instructions from the site. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised with their attention to detail that this was unnecessary as they included a copy of the same instructions I printed in the box. The install went exactly like the instructions/videos said it would and if I hadn't been interested in getting the beauty plastic underbody piece back on I could have been done in fifteen minutes with a lift and another set of hands. All in all a very easy kit to install, and thanks to etrailer for the speed, quality, and including all the necessary hardware and instructions. 5/5 would definitely do business with again and recommend. 269805

I had purchased this Thule Bike Rack which holds 4 bikes from etrailer.com and am very pleased with this product. I purchased on 6/12/16 and requested 3-5 business day delivery and it was delivered promptly on 6/17/16 to our home. the package arrived safe and sound with no damage in a bog box. I easily assembled it and put it easily into the class III hitch that I also bought from etrailer. I have our local mechanic shop install the hitch for me and they offered to help me put the bike rack together as well and put is on my car. I have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The bike rack has pins in the top and bottom and you take the one out as well as the hook that goes over the pin to lock into place and then you can fold down the bike rack to gain access to your trunk. On the top, there is a pin that you remove as well as the hook that locks the pin in place and you then can lift the arm to place your bikes. You use the rubber straps that come with the bike to hook onto the arms. I also use bungee cords and put them through the spokes of the bikes to keep the wheels from moving. I would definitely recommend the bike rack. 262550

Ordered both the Draw Tite Class 3 hitch receiver (75235) and the Thule Hitching Post Pro (TH934XTR) for my 2013 Rav4. Both items arrived quickly, at the same time and in good shape though the hitch was sticking outside of the box in two spots. I did a little sanding and spray painted a couple of chips (with Rustoleum) that took all of 10 minutes. The only real issue (and I'm sure this is pretty standard) was getting the bolts started with the rusty in-frame nuts that most vehicles have. Once I got that done (3 of the 5 nuts), it was all a piece of cake. I did not get a wiring kit for the hitch but may in the future. Thanks to etrailer for giving me a real reason not to use another online retailer! 385326

This is a good sturdy bike rack. Well made and fits the 2 inch hitch with no troubles and fits my wife's 2008 Highlander great. My only warning is what kind of bikes do you have? My son's bike was 24 in, wife's bike was a girls bike with a deep center bar not like a mountain bike that is straight across. My son's bike did not fit and I needed to get a special bar that we take on and off that goes across for my wife's bike. My son needed a new bike anyway but I did not think about this when I got the rack. We have used it now several times and love it. It took a bit to figure out how to get the bikes on and off but this is a great product. Just look at what bikes you have before you get a rack to see if what you have fits. I won't ding this product for my poor observation skills and would recommend it. 136928

I have had many Vehicles and Bike racks over the years. I bought this one based on reviews. I doubted they were all true but went with it. To my surprise they were all true. I got the regular shipping and was worried it wouldn't come in time for my vacation. I received it the Wednesday before it started and only took 5 days for delivery. it was amazingly easy to use and all the bikes stayed secured going down some pretty rough roads. I was confident driving on highways and didn't have to spend my time worrying about the bikes coming loose. Best bike rack I have bought. I didn't buy their safety lock pin. found a cheaper one as good. 428635

I purchased a trailer hitch for my 2013 Nissan Rogue and a Thule TH934XTR Bike Rack. I was worried initially about the trailer hitch installation due to the age of my car. Once I got started with the install I realized I would need to utilize all of the tricks shown on the website for cleaning out the bolt holes. So I purchased the battery terminal cleaner for 4 dollars from a local car parts store and made my own tap from an existing bolt that I removed from the underside of the car prior to attempting to install the hitch. The homemade tap worked awesome and took care of three heavily rusted holes. I made sure that the bolts would hand tighten all the way prior to starting the installation of the hitch. I did use quite a bit of WD-40. The hitch installation then took about 5 minutes once the holes were cleaned out. It looks great and fit perfectly. The bike rack took about 5 minutes to assemble and install and I pre-fitted my three bikes on the rack so that once we need to use it, it will be all set to load up. The rack works well for my bikes. I was very happy with the standard shipping as it only took 3 days to be delivered. I would recommend both the hitch and the rack for anyone interested in purchasing one. 269910

This requires minimal assembly (one nut and bolt) to get it ready to fix to the vehicle. It is fairly heavy so it does help to have two people affix it. Fitting it to the vehicle is also very simple with one nut to retain the rack in position. From opening the box to having the rack attached to my Jeep it took less than 20 minutes. The product is very robust and well made, the rubber straps are really easy to use and keep the bikes very securely in place. Our first trip we took 4 adult bikes and the bike rack made it all so easy, you do not have any worries whilst driving about the security of the load. This bike rack does exactly what you want it to do and gives peace of mind to drive without constantly looking in the mirrors (been there with other inferior bike racks!). We will typically have only 2 bikes on this rack for 70% of trips but when the kids decide they are coming ...... 4 bikes go on the rack no problem. You can also use the rack to do bike tune up from as the height is perfect......useful bonus! I have no problem recommending this product. 333344

Assembly: Arrived promptly and assembled easily, though there were a few issues with the instructions: 1. The anti-sway braces were not shown or addressed in the instructions. 2. There were two different types of rubber hold-down straps provided, but no instructions as to where the different designs should be used. 3. There is more play in the rack than I anticipated, based on the video. It seems to be due to the "adapter" that allows use on either 1.25 or 2.0 in hitches. I would think the fit would be more snug with less play if there was no adapter. Use: 1.I was able to fit three bikes on the rack, but am not sure there is sufficient room for a fourth, which is the primary reason I purchased this rack. If there are constraints on the size of the bikes that can be accommodated to fulfill the "up to 4 bikes" claim, that should be specified. 2. There is no easy way to lock the bikes to the rack - it would be nice to have the "u-shaped" loop higher up on the vertical stem, so that a lock/cable could attach. 3. There is no restraint on the two cradle arms when folded down to the vertical position, other than gravity. It would seem to make the arms subject to "flopping" around while the arms are down. 81283

Great product, arrived undamaged. Easy to put together. We tried putting 3 adult bikes and 1 kids bike but couldn't make it work so we just threw an adult bike in another truck. If we pulled the pedals and seats off I'm sure it would've worked but we had the truck option and went with that instead. Drove 150 miles with a few bumps along the way and had no issues with anything coming loose. The straps and anti sway features worked great and we used the extra strap included for backup. The only thing I was concerned with was a weird looking weld job right where it connects to the hitch receiver. I included a picture but after 300 miles I guess it's a non issue. Overall great product! Thanks etrailer! 428873

The Thule Hitching Post Pro 4-bike rack is a beast--very solid and sturdy and the bikes do not budge when racked into it on my 2013 Honda Pilot. Assembly was fast and installation made sense. The rack is heavy but was no problem for an athletic woman (presumably one that rides her bike) to install. However, I don't like leaving the rack on my Pilot when I'm not using it, so I wish it had an easier hitch latch with a lock-pin rather than a bolt that requires screwing in every time I want to hitch the rack. Other than that, its intuitive to use, the bikes fit securely with the included straps and stabilizers, and I have no worries that the rack or bikes will budge at all when driving. The rack can theoretically hold 4-bikes, but that seems crowded given the heavy frames of some of the bikes in my household. Overall, I give the Thule rack a very good rating for ease of attaching bikes, its sturdiness, and good price point. 379404

Just arrived at Acadia National Park with our bikes. A 400 mile drive from home. Not a problem -- didn't even think about them. Fit well in the hitch (which we also got from etrailer). This product has stood up very, very well. It is difficult to get four bikes on any rack but we have managed to do it a few times with wiggling here and there. I should note these are all adult-sized bikes, too, not little kid bikes. We have driven from SE Michigan to Madeline Island in Wisconsin and back with this hitch and had no problems whatsoever. That was a 12-hour trip each way. We also drove across the state of MI to the Muskegon area recently with all four bikes on the rack. Before any big trip, we check to make sure nothing is loose. So far, it has worked out really well for us. The best way to get them on is to kind of tilt them and wobble them back and forth, slowly rotating the frames back onto the rack. We are very happy with the product. It's true we cannot open the back of our RAV4 with the rack up but we've discovered it's not such a big deal to lower part of the rack (with built-in pin) if we really need to access the back of the car. We do take the rack off during winter as there doesn't seem much point in having it on during that season. 277860

Great product. Very well made with heavy gauge metal. All pieces/parts came in the package. The video at etrailer.com shows one bike being placed on the outermost carrying position. There's a reason for that. It's the easiest place to put a bike. I'm sure the video was made for demonstration purposes. However, trying to place 4 bikes (1 road bike, 2 mountain bikes w/no active suspension and 1 mountain bike with front/rear suspension) was a real challenge. It took my wife and me about an hour trying all different scenarios ie, what bike first, second, third...we finally found one that worked! Will it fit 4 bikes? Yes. Is it a challenge? Yes. Like one reviewer said "good to know beforehand what styles of bikes you have". I want to buy a trailer mount bike adaptor for the fully suspended bike. That'll make mounting much easier. Good news, etrailer has one! All in all, I'll give this product two thumbs up! Also, etrailer.com's customer service is the very best I've ever come across. From the online order placement to the bike rack landing at my doorstep was 4 days! Because I was a returning customer, they processed and shipped my order on day one! I'll use etrailer.com for any future needs!! 147380

I've only used this rack one time for a 180 mile trip, and it performed WONDERFULLY. Why Thule discontinued it is beyond me. It took me a while to figure out how to mount the bikes since I'd never used a bike rack. But once I got it all figured out, the rack performed amazing well!. When I would look into the rear view mirror I saw NO shaking of the bikes. I bought the Thule receiver lock - don't know why it has to be so expensive. The straps and anti-sway mounts work really well. I selected this rack because my 2006 Honda CR-V has the spare tire mounted on the back and I was concerned about clearance. No problem. I have about 4-6" of clearance. Buy one while etrailer still has them. 146477

Great price, install was super easy. There was a plastic cap that was cracked, but it is pure cosmetic and eTrailer sent me another cap immediately. That is great customer service! Received the product today with two major flaws. First, the Stinger was missing the whole for the pivot Bolt. There was basically a hole in each end of the Stinger but none at the bend where the horizontal and vertical tubes meet. I called customer service and explain the problem. The CS rep was not well educated and after giving him the part number for the 4th time, he finally pulled up the correct schematic. He informed me that I would need to return the entire track for warranty. That is not going to happen. I drilled the hole myself and continued. Then I found that the bike rack would not tilt fully because one of the plastic inserts on the horizontal tube of the Stinger was in the way. No way to fully extend or Tilt The Bike Rack unless I removed part of the plastic cap in the end of the horizontal tinger. After cutting Away part of the cap, the bike rack tilted to its full capacity. Haven't used it yet but based on what I've seen thus far, I am disappointed in the quality and would hesitate to buy another. 576650

Due to the spoiler at the top of your rear hatch, the only trunk mount bike rack options that are available are the Over-the-Top Bike Racks, 2-bike # HRF2 and 3-bike # HRF2-3. I have attached a review video of these bike racks for you to check out. We also offer the SeaSucker Hornet, part # 298-BH1302. This is a single bike carrier that uses vacuum cups...

  • Can you Open the Trunk when the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier is Installed on a Mazda CX-5
  • If you need truck access often, I have a solution for you, but bike rack manufacturers do not recommend opening the rear hatch or trunk with a bike rack installed. The door hinges are not designed to hold the extra weight and the rear door could come down on whoever is underneath. There is also a chance that the bike rack could fall off and scratch the paint. If you need to access the trunk often, I suggest a hitch mounted bike rack which can fold down, giving you access to open the...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2013 Honda CR-V
  • I will be more than happy to make some bike rack recommendations for you. I can give you my top picks that fit the criteria that you have provided but there are some other important factors you will need to consider. Then I can provide a more specific recommendation. The year, make, and model of the vehicle, the size trailer hitch, and the type of bikes is all important. A 2013 Honda CR-V like yours could have a Class I, II or III hitch with either a 1-1/4 inch or 2 inch receiver so...

  • Thule Bike Rack Recommendations for a BMW X5 SUV
  • Thule and other bike rack manufacturers offer 2- and 3-bike trunk-mount racks that are a fit for the BMW X5, for both the M-version and not. For example, if your X5 is a 2013 model year you can use any of the carriers shown on the link provided, and these include options from Thule, Yakima and Hollywood Racks. At the top of the page you can select your version, M or not, to see all racks and then use the filters at the left hand side of the page to narrow the results to those carriers...

  • Trunk Mounted and Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Options for 2009 Honda CR-V
  • If you care to go with the trunk mounted bike rack, I would recommend the Yakima FullBack Trunk Mount Bike Rack which is available for 2 bikes # Y02634 or 3 bikes # Y02633. I really like this rack because of its 4 strap design, which is easier to install than traditional 6 strap designs. If the bike rack is something you are planning on using only occasionally, a strap mounted rack is a great choice. If you are a frequent rider, despite the greater expense you will be much happier using...

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes With a 2016 Toyota RAV4
  • We have several 3-bike racks for your 2016 Toyota RAV4. If you have a trailer hitch, I recommend looking at the Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 Bike Rack, # TH934XTR. This is the most popular hitch mount bike rack among our RAV4 customers and using a 4-bike rack will give you plenty of room to load three bikes, especially if any of them have larger frames. Another option is to use a trunk mount bike rack like the Thule Archway XT 3-Bike Rack, # TH9010XT. I have attached a review video of...

  • Compare Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a 2014 Toyota Highlander
  • I would be happy to compare these trailer hitch options for your 2014 Toyota Highlander XLE. As you mentioned you have options, Curt # C13200 and Draw-Tite # 75896. These are Class III trailer hitches with a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 900 lbs. The difference in non-trailer loads does not effect the 2014 Highlander. Curt will require the use of a stabilizing strap for non-trailer loads on their Class I, Class II and some Class III trailer hitches, but...

  • Recommendation For Hitch and Bike Rack on 2012 Honda Odyssey With 2 Adult Bikes and 1 Kids Bike
  • The hitch I would recommend for your 2012 Honda Odyssey is the Draw-Tite Class III 2-Inch Hitch, part # 75270. This hitch is a 2-inch hitch with a 675-lb tongue weight capacity and a 4,500-lb towing weight capacity. This hitch will accept a 4-bike rack with no problems. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Draw-Tite hitch. The Thule Parkway 4 Bike rack, part # TH956, you have referenced will work on the 2-inch hitch, but I would also recommend to look at the...

  • Trailer Hitch for a Bike Rack on a 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid
  • Yes, you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75225 on your 2017 Acura MDX hybrid. The hitch will fit with a full-size spare if the spare is the 18 inch but not if the spare is the available 19 or 20 inch. If you have a 19 or 20 inch full size spare in that area (which being a hybrid I am not sure if the spare is in the same place as gas models) then the spare would have to be relocated if it interferes with the hitch installation. I don't know how many bikes you want to carry or if you...

  • Can I Purchase The 2 Inch Adapter Sleeve For Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR Separately
  • We have the sleeve adapter that you will need for your Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 Bike Carrier # TH934XTR. You will need the Thule Replacement 2 Inch Shank Adapter, part # 853-7489, which will allow you to mount the bike rack in a 2 inch receiver. If you are also missing the hitch pin, I would recommend a locking hitch pin like the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock, part # THSTL2. This lock is also an anti-rattle device that will reduce movement and noise when your bike rack is attached to...

  • Comparing the Thule Vertex 5 and Hitching Post 4 Bike Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Racks
  • On the Thule Vertex, # TH9030XT, the first benefit is that the two arms are arced which allows for the best in spacing the bikes and allows you to mount the bikes at different heights. The # TH934XTR has straight arms so the you will not have as much mounting freedom. The main obvious difference is the amount of bikes they can carry. The Vertex can carry 5 bikes and the Hitching Post can only carry 4 bikes. The cradles on the Vertex are the newest type offered by Thule. They include...

  • Comparing the Thule Parkway and Hitching Post Pro Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Racks
  • I am not entirely sure what you mean. There is only 1 Thule Parkway 4 bike rack and it is # TH956. Sometimes you might here it referred to as a carrier but it is still the same part. There is the Hitching Post Pro, # TH934XTR, which is very similar to the Parkway. The Hitching Post Pro has a few more features than the Parkway including anti-sway cradles, arms that fold, and it can fit 1-1/4 or 2 inch trailer hitches. The Parkway does not have anti-sway cradles, arms that fold, and only...
