Tow Dolly Trailers for easy car hauling
Hook up a car behind your RV with tow dolly trailers for straightforward towing. Expect some assembly and setup; choose wheel straps that match your tire size, seat the grommet-mount tail lights fully, and remember that backing up can be challenging. For storage and security, some fold to fit tight spots, and you can lock a 2" ball coupler and add a wheel lock to deter theft.
Use a coupler lock sized for a 2" ball coupler; it can be used while engaged or disengaged. For tougher protection, choose a heavy-duty lock for a flat-lip 2" coupler and pair it with an adjustable wheel lock for 10" to 18" wheels. A heavy chain around the axle and a fixed object can add another layer.
Fully seat the lights in the rubber grommets during install. Give each light a firm tug test and make sure the grommet is evenly captured. Route and secure the wiring so bumps don't pull on the light. If a light comes loose, check grommet fit and reinsert carefully to help prevent a repeat.
Any electric brake controller will work with a tow dolly that uses electric brakes. You'll also need the correct wiring adapter for your vehicle. Have your year, make, and model ready to confirm harness compatibility before installing.
Assembly is generally straightforward with basic tools. The yoke assembly can take time because electrical connections may get in the way; use cable ties to keep the connector up and away from the pivot bolt hole. Tail lights can be tricky—take time to seat them fully in the mounting grommets. If the dolly has brakes, a power bleeder can make bleeding easy.
Use wheel straps that match your tire size. Small-tire straps on larger tires can work loose and come off. Confirm the strap size before your first trip, then stop after a short distance to recheck fit and tension. Swap to larger straps if the supplied ones don't hold your tires securely.
