7 Pin Trailler ConnectorsI ordered the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End, and the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End to re-wire a Lance camper to vehicle connector.

I am going to adde the Vehicle End to the Lance camper and make a male-to-male pigtail that will plug into the vehicle and into the Lance camper.

The reason I am doing this is because I once forgot to unplug from the vehicle, and I ripped the wires out of the camper. The process to plug and unplug the wires is to back about 80% under the camper, plug in the connectors, then back the rest of the way under.

Once I rewire with the purchased connectors, I will be able to back all the way under the camper, preventing the problem of stopping at 80% both when loading and unloading.

The color coded Pollack connectors make the job of wiring easier.

I purchase all my trailer needs from eTrailer. Their service is always top notch.

by:

The trailer socket received was exactly the right replacement part. It arrived very promptly and in perfect condition. It was helpful to have the tracking link so we could anticipate its arrival.
Note: be sure to mount the wires in the correct alignment, otherwise a fuse will blow or you will experience an electrical arc between the socket pin and the trailer pin. The two alignment screws on each side of the socket hold the wire harness in position; the harness can inadvertantly be installed upside down if you are not careful to keep track of the correct wire alignment.

by:

Works great as an adapter. I used it to convert a truck camper electrical harness to a Lance camper receptacle.

by:

Hooked up only 12 volt for charging the battery on my dump trailer. Works fine.

by:

Exact replacement of what I was replacing. Wired in easily and works great

by:

Installed this on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, which never had one nor a kit to do it. I needed trailer lights, 12v power and brake control for a Coleman camper I pull. Has worked reliably for a year now.

  • How to Make an Adapter to Go from Semi Truck 7-Way Round to RV Style 7-Way Blade on Trailer
Either way is correct. It depends on if you want to keep the semi-style 7-Way (if you need to tow that type of trailer) or if you will never be towing a semi-trailer. If you need to keep the 7-Way semi active on the truck, then you would need to make an adapter to get it to work with an RV 7-Way. For that you would need a trailer side 7-Way round, # PK11702, a converter, # RM-732, and a vehicle side 7-Way RV style, # PK12-707E. A semi-7-Way has separate circuits for the brake lights and...

The Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness - Vehicle End # HM47210 can be connected directly to your trailer battery. You will run the Red wire to the positive terminal on your battery, but the white ground wire will connect to your trailer frame, just like the negative terminal of your battery does. You just want to make sure that connection to your frame is free of rust or corrosion for a bare metal to metal connection. That will give...

Hi Rick, I am aware of the Swivelwheel extenders, though not the Blue Ox ones, so I do have an idea of what you are attempting to achieve. It sounds like what you are looking to do should pose no problems at all and shouldn't be too difficult either, especially if you are familiar with wiring. You will, of course, need some butt connectors, wiring, and both trailer and vehicle side 7 Way connectors. I have a list of everything you would need listed out below, but I included two different...

The 7-way junction box part # HS381-9000 that you referenced is color coded for standard trailer wiring like what it installs on but most likely not the same colors as Dodge Ram trailer wiring. This installs on a trailer though and would not be the correct type of 7-way to install on a vehicle which requires a female 7-way socket like # PK12-707E. The junction box has all of the pin labelled inside of it with what function each pin/wire represents to make install as easy as possible.

To tow your trailer that uses an RV style 7-way blade style connector with your semi that has a 7-pin connector, you need to construct an adapter that will also combine the brake signal into the right and left directional signal pins. Your Ford F-150 might have relays related to the tow package wiring and not just fuses. Use the owners manual to find the locations of any relays (or fuses) related to the tow package wiring. The easiest way to see if a relay is bad is to use a known good one in place of a potential bad one. If all fuses and relays are good then the problem is somewhere between the trailer connector at the back of the truck and where it terminates at the front.
