How to Control the Brakes When Moving a Trailer w/ a 12v Electric Tug

Question:
I have a 12v electric tug to move my camper around in our drive. The drive has a very little slop to it, a couple of degrees maybe. I would like to be able to lock the brakes up when I need to stop and walk to the back to check clearance. I thought if I added this receptacle with a toggle on the brake wire to my tug it would accomplish my need. Could I wire the negative from the 12v battery on the tug to receptacle ground terminal and then from the 12v battery positive to a toggle and then to the brake terminal on the receptacle? Then plug the camper in to the receptacle. Kinda of like a brake away switch but manual.

Yes, that does sound like it would work. Just wire in a power and ground to the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole item # PK12-707E and then add a switch that will activate the brakes.

Do you know if there would be any kind of damage done to the brakes by basically supplying a full 12v? I don’t want to “burn up” the brakes.
