Question:
I am looking for a trailer plug adapter. Both sides are the 7 way flat, but the wiring configuration is different. I have a 1999 dodge truck with the stock wiring and all my trailers are set up to work on it. It has what I would consider the standard configuration. I just bought a 2016 dodge durango with the tow package. The trailer plug has a different layout. There might be a new standard. Do you have an adapter that will go from new to old style wiring?

Hello Brian,
I have a fix for you, but it is going to take a little work on your part as you will need to build your own adapter.
This is what you will need:
- 12 Gauge 7 Conductor Jacketed Wire - Per Foot # DW04914-1 sold by the foot, you can do it in one foot, you don't want it to be too long anyway.
- 7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer Side # A7WCB you will need to wire this end to how your Durango is wired.
- Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End # PK12-707E this end will need to be wired the way your trailers are.
You can use a Performance Tool W2973C 6/12V Circuit Tester 'n Probe Light for Cars, Trucks, Tractors & RVs # PT72PJ to figure out how your functions are on your Durango so you can match them to the # A7WCB connector.
This is the best option for you, unless you are able to rewire the functions on the back on the Durango to match the functions to your trailer connectors.
Let me know what route you ended up going with.
