Roadmaster Flat Tow Wiring Harness - RM-732

  • Tail Light Converter
  • Splices into Vehicle Wiring
  • Roadmaster
  • Universal Fit

Tow safely and legally with this tail light wiring converter. Ensures that the brake and turn signals from your motorhome with a separate lighting system appear correctly on your towed car with a combined lighting system.

Features:

  • Ensures the brake and turn signals on your towed vehicle match the signals on your RV
    • Converts the 3-wire signal from your motorhome to a 2-wire signal for your towed car
  • Pairs with your tail light diode kit (sold separately) to carry signals from RV to towed car
  • Brightens car's turn and brake signals to prevent rear-end collisions
  • Prevents overheating with heavy-duty aluminum

Specs:

  • Application:
    • Tow vehicles with separate brake and turn signals
    • Towed vehicles with combined brake and turn signals

Notes:

  • Cannot be installed backward for use with a 2-wire tow vehicle and a 3-wire towed.
  • If you have a 4-way trailer connector, it most likely has a 3-to-2-wire converter already built in.

Combined Lighting System vs Separate Lighting System

Combined vs Seperate Lighting System

A combined lighting system (also known as a 2-wire system) uses the same light bulb to signal both braking and turning. (In other words, the car signals a turn by flashing the brake light.)

A separate lighting system (also known as a 3-wire system) has the brake signal and the turn signal light up independently of each other. Typically, the turn signal is amber.

In order to use these two together, you need a converter that can accurately translate the signals from the motorhome to the towed vehicle.

The Brake-Lite converter fixed the problem and it arrived in a few days! excellent service, thank you.

by:

I had delivery of your product in 2 days and installed the Brite-Lite the next day. It works just fine. Thanks-

by:

Shipping was within a week. Buick Enclave Videos are a great help for installing the tow brackets and wiring.

by:

I actually bought this converter for my motorcycle hitch wiring kit. Had it installed to fix my trailer light problem and it works great!

by:

Product arrive reasonably fast. I installed it the same night it arrived and took me about 2 hours total (I like to work slow). So a bit of the back story:

I am customizing a 1992 Softail Custom. I basically chopped both fenders and deleted the center tail light. After some rewiring, I adapted the turn signals to run as tail lights as well. Nothing fancy, I simply ran an additional wire, socket and 140 size bulb to the turn signal assembly, seems crude but hey... it works, and the light housing is big enough to accommodate both bulbs. So now I had tail lights and turn signals but..... no brake lights.

The dilemma was that my brake light was wired to the center tail light which I deleted (It used a dual-filament bulb). Therefore, in order to make the turn signals work as brake lights as well I used the RM-732 to pull the brake light signal into the same bulb as the turn signals. The wiring is straight forward and the unit fits neatly on top of the battery under the seat. It's almost like they designed it for this bike. I'm very pleased with this purchase and I feel safer riding my bike now that my brake lights actually come on when I apply the brakes. Thank you e-trailer!

by:

I had never wired a vehicle for flat tow before. So I called both Roadmaster and eTrailer several times about the issue of 7-pin RV to 6-pin towed vehicle. The confusing issue was that my Tiffin Allegro RED Class A motorhome has the yellow turn signal lights separate. But I learned through this process that the 7 pin is already set up NOT to need your Brit Lite Converter. So, it sits on a work bench in my barn, un-used. What was it? about $[XX]?

by:

Previous one I purchased only lasts a year and a half

by:

Excellent product. Awesome help by e-trailer. Mounted the converted to frame under Freightliner bed and spliced into existing j-box. Works great. Perfect fit and should last a long time.

Thanks,

Jason

by:

So far it's working as advertised

by:

Product arrived on time. Works great!

by:

I will tell you what I like about this wiring converter. IT just plain WORKS exactly as it is supposed to.
I used quality crimp connectors that seal with heat and the installation was easy and after more than a year and all kinds of weather there have been no issues.
I am not surprised as I have bought from etrailer before and have never had a problem with an order or quality.

by:

Works as advertised and easy to use! 2003 Winnebago journey/2014 Jeep Wrangler as the toad!

by:

Works as expected, with no problems. I am happy with etrailer and their customer interactions. I installed a Roadmaster tow bar and brakes on my Honda CRV two years ago. I had a problem and they helped me solve it with a new brake light relay kit. All parts of the install on the toad and motorhome are functioning perfectly.

Not sure at the moment. Covid took a toll on our travels. Except for a brief trip of three days, we did not travel in 2020. However, I will note that all products worked as designed and lived up to all expectations on our three day mid summer trip.

by:

As advertised

Works great

Thank you for the quick ship!!!

Installed the Brite-Lite RM-732 wiring converter on a 2006 Volvo semi truck in order to convert the trailer wiring circuit from three wire to two wire for towing smaller trailers for various construction equipment. The device works as described. Instead of only having one brake light wire and L/R turn I now have brake lights combined with the L/R turn signals. Very well constructed converter and helpful sales staff.

by:

Using this on a dump truck. Second one I’ve had to put on this truck. Both have eventually failed. They appear to be sealed units. Brake lights have gone out on trailer side as well as one side blinker. Converting trailer to use the factory round pin.

by:

For those of you that pull trailers with electric brakes behind both pick-ups and semi tractors this the converter that you will need to make the brake lights work when you are pulling with a semi. If the semi tractor needs to pull a mix of trailers you want to leave it with the 7 pin round and if the trailers with the 7 flat RV style plug needs to be used when a pick-up pulls it. With this converter and one each of the opposite plugs, you can build a adapter to use to get your brake lights working when pulling the lighter duty electric brake trailers with your semi tractor. Reasonably priced and high quality.

by:

Received the product in a timely manor and installed it. Every time I hooked the toad all the lights worked the proper way. I only towed with the Motorhome on several trips and I am looking forward to another traveling season.
Thanks ETRAILER.

by:

Wired up exactly as directions stated. Worked perfect on my single axle semi. Wire this converter inline to my gooseneck trailer plug on semi. Everything works perfect.

by:

The C56196 Works flawlessly with LED lights on my trailer. I used the roadmaster 690 diode on each input wire. How ever I returned the RM-732 as it was a 3 to 2 wire and not a 2 to 3 wire.

by:

I have it installed but havent used it yet. Im sure it will meet my needs
Love their shipping speed

after a year it is still going strong

by:

The product was used on a sports car that was made with a separate turn light bulb then changed to a tail lights with one bulb for everything. This converter did the job so I now have tail, stop and turn lights on a duel filament bulb. Just installed it so do not know how long it will work. Delivery was on time. Tried one other brand prior to this which did not work. The packaging gives a phone number if there are any problems which good.

This was just what I needed to go with the wiring package that came with my towing bracket. Your website made it very clear; what was needed and how to install it. Thanks!

  • Recommended Wiring for a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport w/ Park Sense
Thanks for all of the information Brent! You have done your home work extremely well. Let me reassure you that as long as your Newmar Dutch Star has a fully functional 7-way connector you won't need to address anything on your RV as far as wiring goes. We'll handle that with parts for the Jeep. The fact you were able to successfully tow a 2015 Jeep without any issues means the 4-way and 7-way are already combining the signals leaving the item # RM-732 as a redundant part you won't need....

  • How Can 5-Way Trailer Harness of Motorcycle Connect to Trailer 4-Way
Hey Thomas, what you need is a signal converter to take your motorcycle taillights that have the stop lights and the turn signals on separate circuits to be combined to match the taillight setup of your trailer. For that you'd want the part # RM-732. You can install this on the motorcycle wiring or the trailer wiring.

Hey Shawn, this is a great question but no the Custer 7-way round to 7-way blade adapter does not have a converter in it so that the separate signal circuits are combined. Basically this adapter is designed to just convert the styles of 7-way but not actually go from the semi truck style to RV style of wiring. To convert the signals you would need an converter like the part # RM-732 which you could splice into this adapter if you wanted. Sometimes in situations like this you can wire...

Either way is correct. It depends on if you want to keep the semi-style 7-Way (if you need to tow that type of trailer) or if you will never be towing a semi-trailer. If you need to keep the 7-Way semi active on the truck, then you would need to make an adapter to get it to work with an RV 7-Way.
