First hitch receiver ive ever installed and it couldn't have been easier. The video walks you through the steps. I broke the 2 push snaps that are near the top of the wheel wells.

So easy to put on. Followed the instructions in the video and went from start to finish in roughly 30 minutes.

Easy install with the step-by-step video instructions. I’m very happy with the hitch receiver. We’ve used it with various hitch attachments for hauling bikes and other toys.

One year later and I’m still happy with the product. We’ve had zero issues using it to haul bicycles and other items.

Between my father and myself, we have put on a lot of hitches and receivers over the years him, especially and he made the statement. This was the easiest installation that he had ever had and I agreed. We put it on a 2025 Subaru ascent.

by:

Going on your years and it has been a trooper. Use it with a hitch mount cargo tray and hitch bike carrier and it is still solid as a rock.

Heck yeah, this hitch is solid. I love to hear that. Just out of curiosity, what bike rack are you using?

by:
2023 Subaru Ascent

Have not used it yet but think it will be great. Installation was relatively easy and probably would have taken me about an hour if I wasn’t also chasing after a toddler. The video is very helpful, but something to note that I am not sure I saw - for Touring trims, the mudflap had two screws you also have to remove from inside the wheel well and the piece needs to be taken off to reveal a hidden fastener for the main fascia.

by:
Subaru

Great hitch for my Subaru Ascent! Super easy to install without any crawling under the vehicle or drilling needed, although it was helpful having my 11 year old son with me to hold the bumper fascia steady when reinstalling it. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a hitch for their Ascent.

by:
2024 Subaru Ascent

Extremely easy to install using the provided instructional video. Thanks for the great product and lightning fast shipping!

by:

The hitch came in with the load tag on upside down. With a new hitch on a week old car etrailer offered zero options. All I wanted was a label.

by:
Subaru

Quality Curt construction once again— so you can imagine my surprise when something didn’t line up. It wasn’t on Curt’s end once I did some digging, so if you hit a snag, you’re one of the few unlucky Subaru drivers like me.
Thomas at eTrailer got me in touch with Curt and we worked it out fast and headache free.

Easy to install, no special tools required. Only inconvenience is the size of the holes the safety chains attach too.

by:
Subaru

We bought this in 2024 for my 2019 Subaru Ascent (Premium). We've used it for hauling mountain bikes around Utah. We started with a 4-bike rack and upgraded to a 7-bike VelociRax. It was easy for my spouse to install and it has held up well.

by:

The receiver was very easy to install and I love that it is hidden behind the bumper compartment out of sight. We have used it probably 30 times in the last year and it has performed great each and every time. Would highly recommend it to anyone who is in the market for one.

by:

Super easy installation. The video with directions was great. Took about 30 mins.

2024 Subaru Ascent

Fantastic product and the instructions were great. It took about an hour and a half start to finish, including wiring the trailer electrical connection. Shipping was very fast too.my local Subaru dealer wanted about $1200 to install a hitch and wiring. I did it in my driveway after work for less than $300. I am a very satisfied customer.

2021 Subaru Ascent

Well, it makes me feel less comfortable about how our vehicles are made these days. After watching the videos, I had the harness and bumper on in less than two hours. And I was taking my time because I wanted to make sure I didn't damage anything.

by:
Subaru

The instructions were easy to follow (they were daunting at first glance—lengthy with lots of steps, but each step was easy). They were also a perfect fit for the 2024 Subaru Ascent.

Easy install on 2020 Subaru Ascent and works great.

by:

I've bought Curt hitches from etrailer for every vehicle I owned and this was no different. This is the first time I've purchased and installed this newer style (as opposed to mounting it under the vehicle) and I would NEVER go back if I had the option. This was the easiest install of all time. Quite honestly, removing your bumper is the only part that requires any effort, and still, I had the bumper off, the hitch installed, and the bumper back on in less than an hour, including installing the wiring harness.

I bought it to be able to utilize the Ascent's 5000lb towing capacity, but right now, it's being used for the cargo carrier in my pictures. Couldn't be happier with how it all went. Also, I don't know how necessary it is, but I purchased a torque wrench for this install to be sure I was tightening to manufacturers specifications for peace of mind, which I'd recommend.

Bonus: This got to me in only a few days after ordering, and shipping was free. Can't beat that!

by:

Very easy to install, the videos helped a lot!

by:

Easy to install and worked perfectly.

by:

This could not have been easier. I’m so glad I didn’t pay someone to install this. Great quality product. The instructions were clear and made for a smooth install. The only thing I forgot was the electrical wiring but I called customer service and Joshua K was extremely helpful in directing me to the harness I would need.

  • Comparing Curt, etrailer, and EcoHitch Trailer Hitches for a 2022 Subaru Ascent
The difference between the Curt # C25VR and etrailer # e55ZR trailer hitches for your 2022 Subaru Ascent is that the etrailer hitch has a matte black finish that is a bit more robust than the Curt. The matte black finish does a better job at matching black trim on vehicle as well as hiding scratches that might happen from road debris hitting the hitch. Attached is an installation video of the etrailer hitch on a 2021 Ascent for you to check out. The installation will be the exact same...

  • Curt vs. etrailer Trailer Hitch For 2024 Subaru Ascent
There's only one difference between the Curt and etrailer trailer hitches for your 2024 Subaru Ascent, which is the finish. The etrailer hitch has a matte black finish, while the Curt hitch has a glossy black finish, so you can choose which you prefer. The hitches that fit your Ascent are the following part numbers: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C25VR - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e55ZR The matte black finish does hide those inevitable small scuffs a bit better than the glossy...

  • Comparing etrailer and Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2023 Subaru Ascent
The etrailer # e55ZR and Curt # C25VR for your 2023 Subaru Ascent are identical with the exception of the finish. The Curt has a glossy finish while the etrailer hitch has a matte black finish. I prefer the matte black since it gives it an OEM look. It also does a better job hiding inevitable dirt and dings on the hitch. If you don't have a preference on the appearance of the hitch then I would choose whichever has a lower price.

These hitches are all pretty similar as they all share the same 750lb tongue weight rating and 5,000lb trailer weight rating, and will all install with the crosstube hidden so only the receiver itself will be visible. • Comparing EcoHitch and OEM Hitch to Curt and etrailer Hitches on 2022 Subaru Ascent
I'll start with the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7381. The price on any EcoHitch comes from the material used in the construction of the hitch. It uses a special alloy made of recycled materials and combines aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. You are right about the OEM hitch too, a lot of times they come with a wiring harness. On some vehicles if you get it with the OEM hitch the bumper may also be different to allow for an OEM look. For your 2022 Subaru Ascent that...

To install a 7-Way harness on your 2023 Subaru Ascent, without the towing package, you will need two separate wiring harnesses because they don't make just one that'll do the job. The first harness you'll need is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56040. First off, the Draw-Tite has a ground clearance of 23-5/8 inches from the ground to the top inside tube of the receiver while the Curt has a 24 inch clearance. Also, the Curt hitch is manufactured in the U.S.A. while the Draw-Tite is manufactured overseas.
