Question:

What's the best trailer hitch option for a 2022 Subaru Ascent? I need the hitch for my Kuat bike rack, not for towing.

We currently offer several different hitches for the 2022 Subaru Ascent. Two that are concealed that will be hidden behind the removable panel on the bumper when not in use, and two that sit below the rear bumper and will be fully visible from the rear.

The Curt # C25VR and etrailer brand # e55ZR are completely identical except for the powder coat finish. The Curt uses a glossy powder coat, while the etrailer brand uses a matte finish. Since the hitch will be fully hidden behind the bumper unless it's in use, this is a moot point and I'd choose whichever is less expensive.

The fully visible hitches, Curt # C13400 and etrailer # e35ZR are also identical, except for the finish. The Curt uses a glossy powder coat, the etrailer brand uses a matte finish powder coat. In my opinion, the matte finish tends to 'disappear' under the vehicle better, so that's the one I'd choose if it were for my vehicle.

The concealed versions won't affect the ground clearance at the rear of the vehicle, which means that you won't need to worry about the bike rack or other hitch mounted accessory dragging when you're entering or leaving sloped driveways, they're also perfect for those that want the utility that a hitch provides but aren't thrilled about their appearance.
