Question:
I need a hitch for my 2022 Subaru Ascent, but don't know which one to get. What's the difference between the available hitches? Which one should I choose? Thanks!

We offer two styles of hitches for your 2022 Subaru Ascent, a fully visible model such as the Curt # C13400 or the etrailer brand # e35ZR or the partially concealed Curt # C25VR and etrailer # e55ZR.
The # C13400 or # e35ZR mount to the underside of the frame members, and the entire hitch and receiver tube is fully visible from the rear of the vehicle. The receiver tube will sit just below the rear bumper.
The # C25VR and etrailer # e55ZR install behind the bumper cover, and will actually replace the bumper beam. When installed, the receiver will actually pass through the removable panel in the bumper, so it can be completely concealed when not being used. The installation is certainly more involved, but the install is much cleaner looking, and doesn't affect the vehicle's ground clearance.
If I had to personally choose between the options mentioned above, I'd choose the etrailer # e55ZR because I prefer the concealed appearance and I prefer the matte finish used on the etrailer hitches versus the glossy powder coat used on the Curt product.
If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll need a trailer wiring harness like # 118790 for a 4 pole connector or # 118290 for a 7-way. The ball mount you use will depend on which style of hitch you choose. If you go with the fully visible model, use the # D-28. For the concealed hitch, use # C45100. For either hitch, you'll need a # PC3 hitch pin, and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer ball.
