Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Hitch is exactly what should have come on any 2500 and especially 3500s.. GMT800 stock recievers are terrible and cant move real weight. For me, My 07 3500 Dually bent at the edge of the frame. Huge selling point for me is the brackets that go up the side of the fram with 2 additional attachment points. Bonus points also for the sleek gloss black look. LOVE IT

Replacement for the factory hitch that had rusted out. The installation had no issues. 1 year later the hitch is in good shape. Hitch has been used regularly. No rust!!!

by:
2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Heavy duty as expected, fairly easy to install on a 2006 Chevy crew cab dually 4-wheel drive diesel. Note this receiver puts the hitch pin exactly 1 1/2" higher than on the stock hitch which was used on the majority of G.M. trucks of this era, 1/2 , 3/4, & 1 ton. Really got here fast( 2 days) but hitch & box had some minor damage. Only reason for 4 stars is diff. in hitch height ( which I was informed of but didn't think it would be that much) & had to re-drill mount for Reese 85219 trailer connector.
Intend to order more stuff from etrailer as needed, quick delivery & decent price.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2 1/2 inch Titan Class V hitch is the biggest, baddest hitch I've ever seen and I've been trailering for 25 years! I was maxing out the weight limits on my factory installed hitch and this bad boy will handle anything my truck is capable of hauling. My truck is an '03 Chevy Silverado 3500 Crew Cab Dually with the Duramax diesel engine and it only came with a hitch that carries 7500 w/o weight bars and 12,000 with bars. The Titan carries 18,000 lbs!! Awesome! Install time was under an hour with no problems to speak of. Check out my pics. One has the hitch installed, the other is a side by side shot of the old hitch and the Titan.

Just installed this receiver on my 2003 Chevy 2500HD and it’s a beefy hitch. Install was about and hour but I pull 14k pounds 3 times. Huge upgrade from the factory hitch and I highly recommend it.

by:
2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Super fast shipping easy installation built beefy looks way better than stock and can handle the demands i need for towing

by:

I installed this myself in a couple of hours fit like a glove and will never have another factory hitch again! It pays to go strong or stay home!
Everything I have purchased through etrailer has been of the highest standards and the support of the staff is super! Go etrailer!

by:

Absolutely impressed with E-Trailer.com. Courteous, Helpful and easy to talk to staff made the ordering process comfortable for me. i would and have recommended them to anyone. The hitch was everything I hoped it would be, massive, strong and fit better than factory unit. Thank you E-Trailer!

by:

Installing was easy, a little heavy, but that’s what I expected with an 18k, 2 1/2” receiver hitch. Will tote all a one ton needs to pull, or should pull!

by:

Installing this hitch was easier than expected, I did have to do a little modification to the truck mounting holes but no biggie, anytime you install aftermarket hitches it seems that a little modification is to be done. Overall this was pretty straightforward, design is perfect for my application. 2006 Chevy HD 2500 4x4.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic

Excellent Quality. I ordered one of these from [online] initially and it showed up without a box and missing parts. Short of a Torklift hitch, I think this is the burliest hitch you can get for a Classic Silverado. Curt is good too but it hangs down quite a bit.

by:

This is the baddest hitches I have ever seen. The install was very simple and quick, make sure you have a friend help it is a little heavy. If you pull a trailer like I do every day this is a must have. Look at the photos posted below by another person and you can see the size difference in the hitches. You will be very pleased you upgraded.

Great fit. Bolted in place with little effort. Instructions could use a slight tune up. No missing parts.

The customer service was great ! The hitch is seriously stout !! Pretty easy to install and much more heavy duty than the factory hitch that came on my Chevy dually . Seems to be a good solid product . My only complaint was the instructions I found them to be less than great and the extra hardware made it a bit confusing .

  • 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch With Best Ground Clearance for a 2007 Chevy Silverado 3500 Classic
Ground clearance is generally not a problem on full size trucks like your 2007 Chevy Silverado 3500. With that said the 2-1/2 inch hitches for the truck do hang fairly low. The Draw-Tite hitches # DT45519 and # DT45517 fit a little tighter to the rear bumper than the other options but only just.

  • Recommended Heavy Duty Hitch for a 2006 GMC Sierra Short Bed
The Draw-Tite # DT45519 is designed to be used on the 8 foot bed models of the GMC Sierra and will not fit the short bed models. That being said, we do have Class V hitches with a 2 1/2 inch receiver options available for your short bed truck. The Draw-Tite # DT45517 is designed for short bed trucks and has a 13,000 pound towing capacity and 1,300 pound tongue weight capacity. This is upped to 17,000 pounds and 1,700 pounds, respectively, when a weight distribution system is used. The...

  • Distance Between Mounting Holes of Draw-Tite Hitch DT45519
By mounting hole dimensions I assume you are asking about the distance between them, and that distance is 39 inches for the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT45519. That is the same distance between the mounting holes as the similar hitch from Curt which also has a 2-1/2 inch receiver and fits a 2007 Chevy, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15703. I have added links below to the installation instructions of both hitches for you to check out.

  • Recommended 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch for 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 with Best Ground Clearance
We haven't had the chance to install the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15703 on the 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 so I don't have exactly how far beneath the bumper the receiver will sit, however I did go out to our warehouse to take a measurement that will help you determine this. From the front bracket where the hitch will attach to the frame rails of your Silverado to the bottom of the receiver there is a distance of 9-3/4 inches. You can take this measurement down from the bottom...

  • Hitch Extender to Tow a Trailer with a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 with Truck Bed Camper
First you will need to determine if the trailer hitch on your 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 is a 2 inch or 2-1/2 inch. Just measure the opening width to determine the size. I am assuming that the tailgate is down and/or the camper overhangs the back of the truck thus the need for an extension. I recommend an extension that is long enough to where the face of the receiver is flush with or a few inches recessed under the rear most part of the truck or camper, whichever extends out the furthest. I do have a solution for you; however, it will require some changes to the existing components on your truck. The Curt Hitch Extension # C45048 that you referenced does look to be your best option for getting the extension you need to tow a trailer with your Chevy Silverado and Lance Camper. As you mentioned, this does require you to have a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver on your truck. Also keep in mind that when used at its max 34 inch length it has a maximum trailer weight capacity of 4,500...

  • Hitch Extender to Tow a Trailer for 2011 Ford F-450 with 2017 Mammoth Camper in Bed
You might not need a hitch extender. It is possible that a long ball mount will have the length needed to provide clearance for towing the trailer. Ball mount # BM20 measures 13-1/4' inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It is rated for 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight and it has a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop. It fits a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver so if you have the factory 2-1/2 inch receiver you would also need to use a reducer sleeve such as # C45405. A...

It sounds like your Lance camper overhangs the truck bed so you need an extension of some kind. There are a couple of possible solutions. Many extensions will reduce the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch by 50 percent. However if you were to use a long ball mount, the capacity is not nearly as affected. Thanks for reaching out, Jon! To replace the factory hitch on your 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41944. For something a bit more heavy duty we have the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT45519, but this does with a larger 2-1/2" hitch receiver so it may not work with your current inventory of hitch accessories without an adapter like our Magnetic Reducer Sleeve # e28JR. The longest hitch extender for 2 inch hitches is 18 inches long, # C45796. If you use it with a long ball mount, # C45230, it would provide and overall extension of about 29 inches. Please note that the use of an extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent at least. If you were to use the ball mount only it would not reduce the tongue weight capacity. But by using an extender it does reduce the capacity.
