Hi everyone, I'm with etrailer.com. Today we have the Yakima HighRoad on our 2018 Chevrolet Impala. So this high road is going to be ideal for your higher end bikes. It has no frame contact, which is fantastic. It does have a pretty unique design. It clamps down on your front wheel, you get it nice and sturdy into place.
And it has a cam buckle type strap in the back. It's not that difficult to get this thing off. It is kind of a little high, but we can manage. So let's go ahead and do that together.Always keep a hand on your bike whenever you undo this, but be sure to undo this cam buckle strap first, you just pressing the tab and it comes right out. But now with this one, hold your bike.
As you screw this counter-clockwise and it's going to move this arm. The one on our right is going to be in a fixed position. So that one will not move. What we're going to do is loosen it up enough to allow this, to fold all the way down like so, and we can go ahead and get this bike off our rack.So with this all the way collapsed, we can then fold this back down to get it nice and condensed into place. And back here, this will be able to slide.
So it's going to accommodate for all your different size bikes. If you have two of these and you plan on bringing your daughter or your son out for a ride, those smaller wheelbase bikes will be able to fit on here as well. As far as how this straps to our bars, we are going to have a little tab right here, which we can put some locking cores that are sold separately. We're going to slide this back and this is going to come out like so, and then that is all that holds that to it. And you don't have to worry because underneath here we do have a nice rubber texture, so it's not going to scratch our bars.So to put it back in, you just slide it up like so, get these in the little slots there, close it down and slide this and that's going to lock that cap into place.
That's just about it. It does have a cable lock integrated in the back, which is very nice. So it's going to go around and you can wrap it around your wheel, your frame, and it's going to click back into itself, like so.Honestly you can't really even tell it's there. It stows away pretty nicely. It's definitely a nice feature, and it is always nice buying products knowing you don't have to go back online and buy more products. But that just about does it for a look at the Yakima HighRoad on our 2018 Chevrolet Impala. Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. And finally we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot garage or driveway..
