Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this locking hitch pin padlock combination. So what this is gonna do, is you're gonna take this, comes with two keys, you can put it in your receiver here to lock up whatever accessory you have in there. Once it's lined up, you just run the pin through, add the padlock, it's all locked up. That way nobody can mess with any accessories you leave in your hitch. Let's check it out.

The lock's great for protecting those accessories, they're a good theft deterrent. Nothing's perfect but this will make sure that somebody can't just walk off of this when you're not around. So whether it's a bike rack that doesn't have an anti-rattle bolt or a draw bar like we have in here, a cargo carrier, there's a lot of options you can use this for to just make sure those accessories stay put. Let's go over some measurements real quick. So from end to end, that's gonna be end of this pin, the end of this padlock, it's gonna be six and three quarter inches.

And then you're gonna have a half inch diameter of the pin itself. And then on the flat portion of the pin to that padlock, is gonna be three and one eighth of an inch. Now it comes with two keys you can use. You can keep one on your key ring, you can keep one in your car, whatever you wanna do with that. You got a chrome plated pin, is gonna be nice, it's gonna hold up to the weather so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion.

It's made to be on the back of your car long term. Overall, I think it's definitely a good addition to your drawbar or your accessory that it'll work with. It never hurts to keep it locked up when you're not around that way nobody messes with it. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out.

I hope this helped..

  • Trailer Hitch and Hitch Adapter Recommendation for 2019 Buick Encore Carrying Kuat NV
Yes, you would want to use an anti-rattle for the 1-1/4 inch portion of the adapter. For that the Hitch part # C11257 would work well. It uses a U-bolt to hold the adapter tight to the hitch tube.

  • How to Lock Bike Rack With No Hitch Pin Lock Available
The HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # HE6001 has a 5/8" pin diameter and is designed for certain SportRack bike racks so it will not work for you. Hitch pin locks are designed for specific bike racks so if that's what you need it for, let me know what rack you have I can see if there is a lock that will work for you. Otherwise, if you have a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin that likely means you have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and we do have hitch locks with 1/2 inch...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Lock that Won't Turn All the Way to Release
I would recommend hitting the lock with some WD40 to try and get the lock core to release. Use the straw that comes with it to direct the lube into the core as much as possible. You may have to let it soak for a few minutes. Working the key in and out of the core several times can help it penetrate and free up the stuck portion of it.

  • Lock For Curt QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Coupler for 2 Inch Ball
There are a couple of different ways you can lock the Curt QuickPin No-Latch Trailer Coupler for 2" Ball, either with a standard coupler lock, or you can use a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin lock, since that is the same size as the pin and clip (though you should always use the pin and clip that come with the coupler when towing and not a lock). So to lock it you can use any of the following options, depending on what you prefer: - etrailer Trailer Coupler Lock for Flat Lip 1-7/8" and 2"...

  • Can Universal Locking Hitch Pin Be Used on Saris Cycle-On Hitch Mounted Bike Rack
Saris uses a threaded hitch pin because the bolt hole going through the shank is threaded. Due to the smaller diameter caused by the threads, a universal hitch lock like the # 5200 wouldn't work. Using the correct lock, part # SA3022 would be your best (albeit expensive) way to secure your bike rack to the vehicle. It might be possible to remove the threaded assembly from the shank of your Saris Cycle-On bike rack, but I don't recommend it for two reasons. 1) You'll lose the anti-rattle...

  • How Can I Carry More Camping Cargo With My 2010 Hyundai Elantra
I do have an option for you for extra storage but the owners manual on your 2010 Hyundai Elantra does not recommend using that vehicle for trailer towing. A lot of people still do it but it is not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and could lead to damage to the vehicle. Instead I recommend using a cargo carrier on your hitch. If you do not have a trailer hitch yet, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I hitch part # 24795 if you have a Sedan or the Draw-Tite Class I hitch part # 24844...

  • 1/2" Receiver Pin Lock for Bike Racks in Large 2" Receiver Hitch
With the bike rack only having a 1/2" diameter pin hole that will limit you to pins that are only designed for 1-1/4" receivers. Using a bolt with washer and nut is not a good idea as it is not near as strong as the receiver pins. The Curt Clevis Pin with Handle and Clip # C45805 is actually 3-5/8" from the collar to the cotter pin. The video will show you the measurements on the product. I recommend using the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 5200. It will allow you to lock the bike rack...

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter - 1-1/4" (Class II) to 2" # C45785 does not come with a hitch pin. If you are in need of a hitch pin for the 1-1/4" end of the receiver, that is the # 5200. For the 2" receiver end, that is the # e98880. Both of these are locking pins in order to protect your adapter as well as your hitch-mounted accessories.

  • Availability of 2 Inch Receiver Hitch for 2009 Toyota Matrix XRS
There are no 2 inch hitches available for a 2009 Toyota Matrix, however we do have a solution for you. We have 1-1/4 inch hitches for your Matrix and a nice adapter for making your 2 inch bike rack work with 1-1/4 inch receivers. First you will need a hitch. The Draw-Tite, part # 24812, has a high customer rating and would work just fine for a bike rack and includes a pin and clip. We even have a video of one of these hitches being installed on a 2009 Matrix, I have added a link to it. Since...

  • Class I Hitch Cargo Carrier with Rise in the Shank for Better Ground Clearance on 2012 Honda Fit
A hitch-mount cargo carrier with height rise in its shank is an excellent idea for use with your low-riding 2012 Honda Fit, and we do offer such compatible Class I carriers that will fit your hitch. The carrier I recommend is the Curt # C18110, which offers 3-3/4-inches of rise in its shank. This is the most rise available among all of our Class I carriers. Another benefit of this carrier is it's fairly light weight - about 30-lbs - which will still leave much of your Class I hitch's capacity...

  • How Do I Know What Size Trailer Hitch Pin Lock I Need
The correct size locking hitch pin you will need will be dependent on what size trailer hitch receiver you have. If the trailer hitch receiver has a 1-1/4" opening then you need a 1/2" pin, the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # 5200 but if the trailer hitch receiver has a 2" or 2-1/2" opening then you will need a 5/8" pin, the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # C23519.

However, if you are using the HTAD adapter, the tongue weight capacity is reduced by 50 percent to 100 pounds.
