Video Transcript for Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter w/ Handle Review

Today we're going to be reviewing part number CAM55168. This is the Camco PowerGrip RV Power Cord Adapter. It's going to feature a 50 amp female end and 15 amp male end. The 125 volt power cord adapter is going to let you convert your RV's plug, that way it'll work with the electrical hookup at an RV park. The 50 amp female end is going to connect to your 50 amp power plug on your RV and then the 15 amp male end is going to plug into a 15 amp receptacle. On the female connector, it's going to feature a built in handle that's going to make unplugging very simple and easy. The connectors, both the female and the male end, are a nice bright yellow color, so they're going to be very easy to see even in low-light conditions.

If we take a look at the overall length, measuring from end to end, it's going to give us a measurement of about 13 and one-quarter of inch. Then the actually wires are going to be protected by this black casing here. It is flexible, so that way you do have a little bit of flexibility with this adapter and that is weather resistant, so the wires are going to be fully protected inside that casing. That's going to do it for our review of part number CAM55168. This is the Camco PowerGrip RV Power Cord Adapter. .

  • Can You Run a 50 Amp RV on 30 Amp or 110 Power?
Hey Jason, thanks for reaching out. So an adapter like part # CAM55168 will physically let you plug in, but there’s a limitation to be aware of. On a 50 amp RV, stepping down to 30 amp or 110 doesn’t give you full power. With a 50-30 adapter, you’ll still only be feeding part of the system, and with a 50-15 (house outlet), you’re down to very limited power. It’s fine for basics like lights or charging, but you won’t be able to run larger appliances or everything at once. So yes, they’ll...

  • Can 120 Volt Extension Cord Plug Into Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter # CAM55168
One end of the Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter # CAM55168 plugs into the 50 amp plug on the RV. The other end plugs into a 15 amp receptacle. If your extension has a 15 amp receptacle then yes, it could plug into this adapter. The 15 amp is a standard 3-prong outlet type of plug.

  • 15 Amp Male Connector to 50 Amp Female Connector Recommendation
For an adapter that has just the 50 amp female connector plus a 15 amp make connector you would want the part # CAM55168. This would be what you would want to use while at your house without access to a 30 amp power source. The part # CAM55025 would be used only if you have access to both a 30 amp and 15 amp source.

  • Recommended 50 Amp to 15 Amp Power Adapter for 50 Amp Trailer
The Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter part # CAM55168 is what you'll need to hook up a 50 amp trailer to a standard 15 amp outlet. That said, this would only provide the bare minimum to the trailer so you won't be able to use most of your major applications like the rooftop air conditioners. If it's just for storage then you should be fine just keep the above in mind.
